Ann-Kathrin Brommel vs Elyse Levesque
(Black Eagle Boxing vs Team Canada)
(3-3, 3 KO vs 2-0, 2 KO)
Results: BBU; Story: Vassago

BEFORE: Because Ann-Kathrin's significant other Mario Goetze wasn't selected to play at the World Cup, the blonde model can showcase her boxing talents tonight instead of cheering for the national team back in Russia. She's supposed to lead the Black Eagles lightweight challenge but has played second fiddle to Indira Weis so far and even a recent victory over Instagram free agent Tatiana Dieteman hasn't won her too many favors with the BBU press. She vows to further strengthen her case against Canadian redhead Elyse Levesque who's racked up a couple of wins to date herself including one over another German model Micaela Schaefer last year.

It's a tricky match-up for Brommel and coach Gina Wild but Kate Abdo thinks it's a good match-up to light up some elite fire under the blonde's hood! Meanwhile the Canucks entourage led by head trainer Amanda Tapping and assistant Kari Matchett enjoys the spotlight here in Hamburg but let's hope they realize Brommel is actually a much tougher test than Schaefer was twelve months ago!

Ann-Kathrin Brommel wears a black bikini set with golden trim and red gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a high ponytail. Elyse Levesque wears a white bikini set with red trim and blue gloves. Reddish brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Ann-Kathrin wants to make an early statement but her initial jabbing charge bounces off the Canadian guard and Elyse quickly channels her superior mobility to stay away from the blonde's hectic assault. The leggy model struggles to match this footwork display and it looks like coach Tapping has come up with a great plan to neutralize the German power-punching ideas. Kate Abdo doesn't think that high of Brommel's raw strenght though but Levesque leaves the local favorite frustrated before mounting a counter-response that picks off the younger woman and results in a loud reaction from coach Gina Wild. However Elyse delivers the close range assault on target and stuns Brommel with a late flurry upstairs pretty much against the odds.

Round 2:
More of the same in the second, Ann-Kathrin dominates the opening exchange but fails to split the redhead's guard on a repeated basis and visibly struggles to match the footwork display that allows Levesque to find respite in mid-range. The Canadian tourist goes back & forth in closing the space around the model's striking range while delivering more frustrating hooks from both flanks. She lands her best shot on the blonde's lips just past the two minute mark and then camps into her cleavage with a half-uppercut drive that reels Brommel onto the ropes. Ugh! That's not what the Hamburg audience anticipated here but Elyse cleans out shop and drills more juice into the breadbasket thereafter which earns her a jeering response all around the arena!

Round 3:
Brommel needs to up the tempo here but she relies on the head-hunting plan too much according to Kate Abdo and she's not getting past the stubborn Canadian defense which leads into a really chaotic action during the third. Levesque's a wiley if underrated veteran of the Canadian boxing curcuit and she stays clear of the German's attack before looping that familiar counter-punching response to dent more holes in the model's confidence. Ann-Kathrin begins to lose her temper when she finds more high guard instead of Elyse's flesh and gets caught out with a looping hook on the liver area that sinks her into more trouble. She manages to clinch the lively redhead to avoid outright disaster but it's Levesque who steals all the headlines in the ring thus far and coach Gina Wild isn't holding anything back during the break.

Round 4:
The Canadians stick to their patient tactics but Ann-Kathrin remains a power-punching threat and she finally splits the redhead's mitts early in the fourth which allows her to trap the actress in a close range war of attrition she subsequently dominates. Elyse gets whacked across the lips and soaks up a hooking double on the brow ridge that wobbles her on the heels where Brommel finally launches a body-busting drive and pounds the pesky opponent back to the ropes. She beats her with another quick overhand and tags the jaw before a vicious hook from the left bends the redhead sideways and forces her to seek immediate clinch. However Brommel stays on top of her and rocks her head back with a jabbing set-up that's quickly followed with a nasty hook on the brow ridge. Ugh! Elyse disappears behind a tight earmuff and defaults the final stretch as the German rattles her from both flanks and yells out in delight at the bell.

Round 5:
Elyse backs out of another close range tangle and forces Ann-Kathrin to chase her around for majority of the round. This isn't a great boxing display here but apparently Amanda Tapping is satisfied with the result since she remains very calm during this German prowl that ultimately fails to reach it's goal. Kate Abdo doesn't like it but sometimes tactics prevails over outright power and one can't blame Levesque from taking her foot off the gas in such a dramatic fashion. Brommel still looks much slower of the two across the canvas and Elyse should be marginally ahead on the cards at half-distance while the German blitz krieg has been neutralized wholesale and leaves both Ann-Kathrin and her coach arguing with each other during the interval.

Round 6:
Brommel launches another head-hunting assault and clips the redhead's temples but then eats a brutal hook on the boobs and suffers from breathing issues for the next few seconds. And this is when the Canadian pounces on her blasting through the high guard and rocking the blonde ponytail backwards. Ugh! Ann-Kathrin loses her balance and fails to escape the point-blank range heat that makes her yelp in clear discomfort. Elyse cranks it up thereafter and pounds the hapless foe onto the ropes where she slips low to punish the ribcage and keep the blonde well under wraps. Uh-oh! Brommel bends awkwardly underneath the assault and eats punches like skittles with Levesque carving bruises all over those otherwise toned ab muscles. Even coach Wild's angry screams can't turn the local fortunes around and Ann-Kathrin looks in some pain come the bell hugging her midsection and shaking her head while talking to her entourage.

Round 7:
Levesque moves onto the front (left) leg and abandons the defensive tactics to punish Brommel through the middle but more importantly she hacks the younger woman below the elbows as well to take full advantage of the stranded demeanour of her opponent. Ann-Kathrin simply can't escape the heat here and gets spiked on target that leans her into a desperate clinch but the redhead still finds the all important strike and DROPS BROMMEL TO HER KNEES after a textbook liver shot! Ugh! The German model can't embrace the pain anymore and bends her head against the boards while hugging the wounded area but you don't recover from these kind of punches inside the count! The Hamburg audience is stunned and coach Gina Wild slumps against the turnbuckle when the fight is called off! KO7 Elyse Levesque!!!

AFTER: That's a real disaster for the hosts which indefinitely postpones Ann-Kathrin's elite ambitions. Guess she won't be having a much better summer than her husband after all! Meanwhile it's all smiles for Elyse and Amanda in Team Canada corner as the redhead improves her overall record and should be regarded as the stable's new lightweight leader according to Kate Abdo. Alaina Huffman has gotten a little long in the tooth and while Elyse's not exactly a spring chicken herself, she just schooled a very dangerous opponent through a very wise tactical approach that must win her immediate praise. You can find a winning way when letting the other girl do all the stalking and that's not a common display in BBU but Levesque truly emerged as a serious contender tonight and it will be fascinating to see where she goes from here.

Final result: Elyse Levesque def. Ann-Kathrin Brommel KO7.
