Sarah Brandner vs Danielle Miller
(Black Eagle Boxing vs PageThrees)
(3-0, 3 KO vs 1-5, 1 KO)
Results: BBU; Story: Vassago

BEFORE: Despite the emergence of Toni Garrn, the Bavarian beauty Sarah Brandner still believes she's actually the top German prospect north side of 130 lbs. BBU TV's Georgie Thompson suggests the two of them should battle it out to settle the lingering dispute however Black Eagle Boxing owner/trainer Gina Wild has other ideas for her new signing for the time being. Brandner's elite prospects require proper match-making and the ever popular PageThrees brigade is simply perfect to boost the blonde's stock before she truly enters the big picture.

Danielle Miller's BBU career has seen few highs and plenty of lows but she's game enough to travel to Hamburg where she hopes to score the mother of all upsets tonight. Gina Wild has mishandled the match-making proccess several times before but Georgie Thompson reckons she might have finally spotted the light at the end of that particular tunnel. This being said Miller looks pretty mean during pre-fight introductions and vows to spoil the German party right here and right now.

Sarah Brandner wears a light blue bikini top, black hotpants and white gloves. Long blonde hair loose & straight. Danielle Miller wears a red bikini top, black hotpants and red gloves. Long black hair straight. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.

Round 1:
Sarah's quick to pounce on the older model but she fails to establish a dominant position and Danielle responds in quality fashion jabbing her way through on target which mutes the local support for a while. However Sarah's not to be denied as she ups the work rate and outworks her foe on the long run even though Miller shows no signs of cracking under pressure so early. She whips several good shots to move the blonde around and despite her mediocre record, she sells herself really well during this opening period and Brandner thinks better off it. She steps back to lure the Brit into a mid-range dispute but the action slows down thereafter and Kate Abdo calls that a mild surprise.

Round 2:
Maybe too much was expected from a Brandner here but Danielle took the current ACB welter champion Jesinta Campbell through nine rounds so she can soak up a punch or two and when the blonde struggles to connect with the early swing, she gets bullied back to the ropes with Miller stepping up with a solid left/right assault. It's basic stuff from the Londoner but it works and the German team looks a bit shocked when Sarah's the one who gets bullied around here. She tags the older model's brow ridge but lacks a proper connection and soaks up a midsection blast with Danielle just working her over in confident fashion. Brandner has to clinch her rival to earn a quick respite but the Hamburg audience is stunned to see their fave struggling so much thus far.

Round 3:
Sarah finally manages to land some crisp punches in close range but Danielle whips her over the top herself and maintains the offensive groove which leads into an extended point-blank range dispute during the opening minute. However the precision of these attacks drops significantly or simply the defense improves as both women waste several chances to score a breakthrough. They think better off it again but Sarah begins to bark in discomfort as she can't quite really sink the British tourist with one of her powerful slams and the crowd doesn't like it either. Coach Gina Wild breaths very heavily in the Eagles corner but Kate Abdo thinks she's about to explode as Danielle teases the local starlet with some explicit vocabulary just before the bell.

Round 4:
Brandner tries to follow through on some early jabbing but keeps bouncing off the Brit's guard and this is a very stubborn performance from the underdog who keeps frustrating the Hamburg audience. Coach Gina Wild still remains calm but that stone cold look on her face isn't exactly the best indication of her expectations as Sarah struggles to enforce her presence all night thus far. Miller clinches her to extend the awkward feeling around the building and actually sticks additional juice to the body with Sarah unable to break free. She gets some help from the ref but misfires badly come the final minute with Danielle showing some nifty footwork to avoid trouble.

Round 5:
More quickfire assault early in the fifth and Brandner finally tags her foe on a repeated basis here which immediately increases the crowd volume. Miller for once trips over her own feet and sinks on her heels which allows the blonde to slam some easy shots up the middle but the Brit's resistance earns her justified praise from Kate Abdo in the booth. Sarah launches a head-hunting tirade in the second minute and makes the older woman seek respite in mid-range thereafter. The truly punishing punches are still absent but at least the German has changed the tune of this bout and runs it from the front now. Alas it's only the artistic impression value that receives a welcomed boost and Danielle issues another vocal swing at her counterparts immediately after the bell.

Round 6:
Sarah finds more success splitting Danielle's guard early in the sixth but she still lacks the really big punch and the British tourist survives the initial tangle before looping a promising overhand response. Both women refuse to engage in a proper slugging war of attrition which the Hamburg audience perhaps expected but at least the Bavarian girl remains more effective than the Londoner who reverts back to defensive circles when she fails to find her mark. Kate Abdo reckons Miller should be ahead on points but the half-hearted performance shown in this round won't win her many friends among the judges. She needs to do a little more than just avoid the blonde's attack even though a single punch can turn things around in this division.

Round 7:
Perhaps Brandner believes she can't be beaten by a decision on home soil as she prefers to stalk the tourist with single assault early in the seventh but Samantha Fox in the PageThrees corner remains more animated than her German counterpart Gina Wild. Both girls tease each other with the front arm dropped really low but neither is punished and Kate Abdo is genuinely surprised how this bout has unfolded thus far. The waiting game continues deep into the final minute and the Hamburg audience begins to lose their patience when Danielle snaps a left cross on the nose and catches the blonde napping. Another wild swing catches the local starlet on the mouth and wobbles her backwards however clock expires before Miller can really add to her sudden advantage.

Round 8:
Gina Wild has finally lost her temper and orders a full-scale attack that Miller neutralizes thanks to some fancy footwork. It's never been a trademark PageThrees value but Brandner gets caught out in a desperate push for glory and eats a steady overhand reply instead with the Londoner suddenly upping the pressure and cashing in with clean shots up the middle. She glues the Bavarian to the spot before launching a flurry of additional head shots and Brandner caves in behind a high earmuff which triggers a loud jeering response from the crowd. She tries to smack herself back into contention late on as she delivers several punches from behind the guard but Danielle refuses to buckle and keeps her trapped on the ropes for remainder of the round.

Round 9:
Time's running out for Sarah to really make her mark here and Danielle simply refuses to go away; both women engage in a steady hooking assault but the tourist could regret missing some clear shots as she gets wobbled onto her heels with the blonde blasting her on the double; she then lays it into the tummy and bends the older girl forward but more importantly stays on top of the exchange and eventually sends Miller backing into the ropes. The Hamburg audience maintains the loud support and Brandner really takes her frustration out as she pummels more tummy and leaves Danielle yelping in pain. As impressive as the tourist was here tonight, she has to clinch the blonde in order to survive this onslaught. Coach Sam Fox yells out "Just one more, one more!" and Kate Abdo wonders if the PageThrees veteran can really hang on here?

Round 10:
Brandner's all over Miller from the bell and begins to stack up some juice upstairs. It's almost a case of mind over matter but Danielle has seemingly run out of steam after a larger-than-life performance all night. She gets thumped to her heels but still loops a noteworthy response over the top only for the Bavarian to completely ignore her in a hectic pursuit of victory. It's then all coming upstairs from Sarah who nails the tourist on both temples but just can't force her down until she switches to the body in the final stretch. She harpoons the liver area and traps Miller in the corner but her frantic efforts come up short and Danielle survives this onslaught with another blatant clinch. Gina Wild doesn't like it, the Hamburg crowd doesn't like it but the bell sounds for the last time and we'll go to the scorecards. Oh boy, this will be close even though Kate Abdo thinks it won't be the case at all...

After ten rounds of boxing we go to the scorecards...

Judges score the bout 97-94 Brandner, 97-96 Miller and 97-95 for your winner through a SPLIT decision... Sarah Brandner!!!

AFTER: "We got ROBBED!!!!", coach Sam Fox is extremely furious when she learns about the final verdict while Danielle just stares at the ref as if she couldn't believe her arm wasn't raised here. Meanwhile Sarah looks almost embarrassed out there according to Kate Abdo but then winks back to coach Wild which perhaps indicates otherwise. However this remains a major controversy and Kate Abdo is convinced the Bavarian blonde wouldn't have nicked it on points if the fight was held outside Germany. She looked all out of sorts at times and lost her intimidating factor which perhaps speaks more about Danielle's resistance in first place. PageThrees have suffered many defeats before but they didn't deserve this one and have every reason to feel hard done by tonight. Moreover the UK press will probably be very harsh on Brandner's elite ambitions and only time will tell whether this was a one-off bad day at the office for her or a sign of looming problems to come.

Final result: Sarah Brandner def. Danielle Miller - Split Decision.
