TESS VALMORE

Hunter King continues to be brought along slowly. She won her sixth fight in a row at the November Asylum. Her opponent, however, was weak and that is an understatement. Just how good is Hunter King? That answer will have to await a much stronger opponent than she has faced thus far.

Levy continues to be impressive. Her opponent, while being up in years (36), did have a decent record in the FCBA and BBU.   Levy took less than minute to send Spearritt into dream land. I think she sent a notice to the much babied Kristen Stewart that her days at the front of the flyweight bench are at an end

Mack needed to win her bout with Glau. Glau is on her last legs and now has lost seven straight. She is among a number of fighters who should be considering retiring. For Mack, the win still leaves her recent record below Front Street standards. She is not quite as far along as Glau, but she is getting there

Katy Perry was the beneficiary of Miss Ginny’s style of mismanagement. The 49 year old Ryan has now lost four of her last five and if you include JMDD, she has lost seven of her last eight. Is she being treated like another Academy lightweight, by being given bouts that she shouldn’t win? She lasted less than three rounds against Perry. That should send a signal. It’s time to go.

This was McKinney’s second bout under the Front Street banner and her second win. I have been saying for two years that it is time for Bloodgood to retire, but she is still around and now has lost six straight. She can hit so it was not a total cinch fight for McKinney but she came through with a KO win.

On another subject, I know the Commissioner has “suggested” stables get rid of members who are not active. I fully support this move. I would have gone farther and “suggested” fighters with long losing records removed from the roster. There is precedent for a move like that as the previous Commissioner did it several times. We have too many fighters who are being used for nothing more than an easy win
