TESS VALMORE
The November PPV was a huge 33 fight card that featured four title matches. For once, no title changed hands. I had predicted the bantam title would change and I am happy that I was wrong. Bennet is a friend of mine, but I didn’t think she could beat the more experienced Michalka. Bennet had been behind the whole fight, but pulled it out with a come from behind KO in the eighth Fox and Kendall Jenner won as expected. Kloss gave Ferguson a better fight than I thought, but not good enough and Ferguson left her out cold
Upton and Regan put on quite a fight with Upton coming out on top. It was only the second fight of the year for Regan. I think she is a fighter who needs to be much more active to be a title threat.
Rhoda solidified her position in the top three welters with a win over the tough Freeman.
Why do managers insist retired members fight again? Garner had done OK when matched with opponents her age, but they put her in with a fighter 24 years younger, who had won all three of her fights against nobodies. The result was humiliation for Garner although Garner showed what a classy person she is post fight. Let’s hope management doesn’t make the same mistake again
One of the highlights of the night for me was seeing Nolin getting pounded like a worn out rug by Michelle Ryan. To quote an old cliche, her manager thinks she is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Well, she is a whole lot on the stale side now. Actually I wouldn’t mind seeing her beat up again
There will be changes in the welter rankings with Michelle Ryan’s win and Freeman’s loss, not to mention Krsmanovic’s win coupled with her win over Ryan in the October PPV
There should be some changes in the lightweight rankings. Winstead with her big win over Swan could well move into the title challenge slot. Lawrence. the only real fighter remaining in the Academy, could move into the top ten with her win over the disappointing Peregrym. Ren, on the other hand met disaster at the hands of Sagra, whoever she is
I have never been sold on Swift as a fighter, but she beat Kim Kardashian. The question I have is, Why is Kardashian still around? She’s 37 and has lost 77% of her fights. Among the many talents she doesn’t have, fighting is one
Among the bantams, Scodelario scored big with a TKO win over Danes. Kosarin should also move up with her win over Mitchell Of course, Smackey, not me, does the bantam rankings. Speaking of Smackey, I expect Robbie got his attention with her first round knockout of Chung
Frege lost. Can you believe that? She even lost to Lovato I have the same question about Frege as we did about Kardashian. Why is she still around? She is 35 and lost 80% of her fights. I think the handwriting on the wall says she isn’t going anywhere. Is she all the Latin Union has to offer? She seems to be the go to girl
One third of the bouts on the PPV were at flyweight. which with the exception of my BFF the fine Cassie Scerbo, is a division not overly interesting to me. I prefer the bigger girls since “I is one, you know 6’ 145” For the most part the bouts went as expected. There was one fight that ended in a big upset and that was Cyrus/Cheryl Cole Cole was number two in the last Boxing World rankings. Cyrus came in at 31 and that was probably generous. Cyrus’s KO win won’t get her into the top ten, but it sure will cause Cole to drop. Hudgens scored a big win over Sienna Miller, while Hough, Danielle Campbell, Henstridge and Lowndes came through with expected wins. I mention Lowndes to keep on the good side of Mr V.
Speaking of mentions, I noted a while ago that OddManOut made some comment about me not mentioning his fighters. Well, I paid attention this card. I think there were 33 bouts. He has 17 fighters. How many were on this card? I believe Nada, Zilch, None
Lastly, I had been waiting weeks for this. Avril, honey. I warned you about your language and name calling. You didn’t pay attention and Collins shut your mouth big time. I hope you learned your lesson. If not it will happen again and again. And by the way, you certainly didn’t win any friends in the crowd. Don’t bother to call me. I know I can be a…what’s that word you like to use? b*tch?
