TESS VALMORE

Halloween night was good to Front Street as its members swept the card, winning all six fights.

Perry, the most famous of all the Front Street delegation, had a match that was positively a joke. McPhee had won only one fight in her entire career. It took Perry about seven minutes to dispose of McPhee, which was four minutes longer than it should have.

In the only other “big girl” bout Swan took care of Larter with a sixth round KO. The Swan win was expected, but her older opponent was a lot more dangerous than Perry’s

While there are a couple of title holders in Front Street’s lightweight organization, it’s the smaller members where Front Street is shining

In a flyweight bout, McCurdy took six rounds to dispose of Paquin to nobodies surprise

Levy, who is in a contest with Winter for the front of the flyweight bench, didn’t have much competition in Snow and she took care of business with a five round KO. Levy needs to step up in competition. A couple of wins over better opponents could get her into a title shot

The bantams are by far the strongest of the Front Street’s contingent and it was the bantams, who had the two most dangerous bouts of the night.

Dennings had to face Beckinsale, who while being 45, has a lot of support in the FCBA. It’s a fight Dennings could have lost, but she flattened Beckinsale in eight in what was a really good fight. Dennings win just might convince Beckinsale any dreams of top ten or another championship are gone. Will she now retire?

To me, the star of the night was Reinhart, For a fighter of her experience ,she faced to toughest opponent and had the best chance of losing. She managed to beat Spiridakos in seven. Her development is very encouraging and sends a signal to Bennet and Dennings who are both in the top ten, that they better be looking over their shoulder for there another bantam aiming for the front of the bench

In the post fight conference there was some comment about Perry being the best fighter is the stable. She’s famous, she’s big and has won a title. There’s another fighter I think is better. She’s not as famous, not as big but has also won a title. For the best fighter in the stable, I have to go with Bennet and remember, I am partial to lightweights
