Nadine Coyle vs Jade Ewen

BEFORE: Girls Aloud and Sugababes are no longer topping the UK charts but Nadine Coyle can still sell out any boxing arena around the city of Belfast. Former stablemate Cheryl Cole only gets better in the ring as years pass by and the Derry native was always extremely jealous she never quite reached the same level of marketing exposure as her Geordie ex-bandmate. Meanwhile Jade Ewen still remains bitter that she wasn't included on the Contenders Six tournament earlier this season. She tells Denise van Outen: "I know Samia Ghadie gets all the attention but just because she couldn't make it into the line-up, just why on Earth was I ignored? I'm like the true Beevers flyweight leader and they chose some bimbo from Kazakhstan or something? They couldn't handle Heidi Range and me in the same room or what?"

Jade suffers from criminal lack of exposure lately and is forced to showcase her forgotten skills in Nadine's backyard tonight. However she's 4-0 against the Lioness Club members and Denise van Outen wonders whether Mel B. smoked the same stuff that affected former coach Gina Wild's match-making ideas before? The Lioness head trainer responds that: "Nobody beats Lioness flyweights five times in a row and Nadine still wants that big win to steal any kind of headlines from the current champion Cheryl Cole. This is the same girl that fought Miley frickin' Cyrus on her BBU debut. She was better than Roxanne Pallett who's now ranked Top 15 in the world! Tell me that she cannot beat the crap out of Jade Ewen tonight?" Well, let's find out then!

Nadine Coyle wears a neon green bikini top, black knickers and white gloves. Long dyed blonde hair in loose waves. Jade Ewen wears a red bikini set and black gloves. Long dark brown hair loose & straight. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the flyweight division.

Round 1:
Nadine is four inches taller than her opponent but she struggles to match Jade's intensity during the opening tangle. The younger singer closes right up to punish the Irish tummy and drills it so hard that Nadine begins to moan in discomfort within seconds of the bell but it only gets worse afterwards when Jade cracks a left hook on the jaw that spins the older girl back to the ropes. She then pounces on the stunned foe alas Nadine channels the escape route even though that only frustrates the partisan audience. Jade's superior footwork allows her to maintain the high-tempo prowl while Coyle's response from behind the guard is downright miserable and she can't avoid getting trapped on the ropes come the final minute anymore. She eats more cruel blows to the body and slumps into a disappointing clinch with Jade seething in her ear to underline her dominance.

Round 2:
Nadine tries to keep the smaller girl at bay but her jabbing efforts fail to match another high-tempo attack and Denise van Outen reckons the former Sugababe truly wants to make a statement here tonight as she outworks the Irish blonde in close range and begins to stack up punches into her face again. Coyle's head snaps back repeatedly as she wilts under the barrage but she gets stuck on her heels and can only soak up more abuse with Ewen refusing to let go; she doubles with a hooking cross on the nose and bends the Derry native sideways when she slips below her elbows to target the liver area. Nadine has to yield real estate but trips back to the ropes where she finds some luck when Jade flies over her shoulder and gets clinched instead. The ref is slow to separate them and Nads manages to clip the fellow singer's rack and even smack her across the mouth thereafter which briefly halts the Ewen charge before another extended stalemate runs the clock down.

Round 3:
Beevers' coach Denise Lewis tells Jade not to lose her focus despite Nadine's woeful execution so far; she appears to follow that advice but Coyle lands a good hooking combo early in the third to finally ignite some support from the Belfast audience. Both singers trade aerial bombs in the middle of the ring but Nadine's reach allows her to be more effective and she tags Ewen's rack again to keep her at bay. The younger girl becomes a little too focused on the head-hunting efforts down the stretch which enables Nads to flick promising jabs from mid-range but she doesn't really display impressive power here and Jade threatens to clobber her back to the ropes come the final minute before another clinch neutralizes those plans.

Round 4:
Nadine would like to dominate the action in front of her home fans but the equally leggy Jade is simply much faster across the canvas and enforces another close-range tussle where she connects with the exposed Irish ribcage again, This is where Nads seems to be vulnerable and she bends awkwardly to the side when Ewen lands three quick harpoons in succession. The overhand response bounces off the top of Jade's forehead and the former Sugababes starlet rips through with a left hook on the jaw that makes Nadine gasp for air... uh-oh! COYLE IS HURT... she stumbles back to the ropes and almost goes down on her backside; her gloves drop by her waist and Jade's too quick not to take advantage... she flies in with a left/right cross on the mouth before another cruel uppercut tags the Irish singer on the chin AND DROPS HER ONTO THE CANVAS!!! Immediate jeers and whistles from the audience mark Jade's breakthrough and she teases with this hostile response so that the referee has to escort her to her corner which gives Nads extra time to recover. She's up at seven but looking a little teary-eyed here and can only backpedal in avoidance when Ewen resumes her pounces. She fails to connect with another big punch to finish Coyle off but she has the older singer spooked and Denise Lewis' huge smile indicates the Beevers are well in their comfort zone now.

Round 5:
Nadine tries to mount a comeback here but simply can't work around Jade's speed advantage and gets wrapped in another bruising head-hunting tussle that seems to fuel the former Sugababe's aggression. Jade eats a couple of shots on the lips but remains committed to taking Coyle's head off so much that the Irish lass groans in her ducking efforts alone. Ewen is all over the local favorite but wastes too much time in the fruitless pursuit of this haymaker finish and Nads stuns her with a right hook followed by a left on the temple. Jade wobbles to her heels for the first time tonight and then gets BLASTED with a left hook on the ear that half-spins her to the side. She tries to leap forward and slug Coyle back on the spot but for once the Irish blonde is faster and she WHACKS the smaller opponent on the nose which cripples her into spasms. Another hook finds the chin AND JADE DROPS TO HER KNEES!!! Uh-oh! That's what the Belfast wanted to see all night here from the former Girl Aloud and coach Denise Lewis is absolutely fuming over in the Beevers' corner! So much work undone by a stupid mistake! Denise van Outen reckons Jade got beaten by her own tactics as Nads found a slugging succeess against the odds but the battle is by no means over. Ewen gets up at seven and thinks better off it, she circles back to invite Nadine into a pouncing drill but the speed advantage remains with the West Ham resident so Coyle only cuts thin air as she can't lay a finger on the retreating foe anymore. And now she verbally taunts the other girl which probably means we're in for a proper grudgefest next!

Round 6:
Jade storms out of her corner to tackle Nadine to the body and this is one area that Denise Lewis told her to focus on. Nadine is vulnerable when getting punched downstairs and she loses her momentum from the fifth when the smaller girl drills her from both flanks. Ugh! Nads gets glued to the spot and can't stretch her elbows while Ewen just harpoons her in merciless fashion before a quick hook on the chin drops the Irish singer back. Coyle tries to unload another overhand response but Jade beats her for the punch and clobbers on the mouth; she adds another hook on the nose and Nads yelps in pain but the gets whacked on the boobs as well and trips back to the ropes... those Irish mitts are slow to get up and Ewen hauls in a left/right combo followed by a piercing shot on the solar plexus which finally breaks Coyle's resistance again. She bellows out onto the ropes with a loud whimper and gets lifted off her feet when Jade smashes her jaw with a brutal uppercut. NADINE GOES DOWN!!! The proud Irish singer ends up face down at Jade's feet and she can only recover to all fours when the count reaches ten! KO6 Jade Ewen!!!

AFTER: This was a very enjoyable fight worthy of a BBU PPV spot any given Sunday and Nadine threatened to steal the victory from jaws of defeat before Jade finished her off at the second time of asking to keep her perfect record vs Lioness Club opposition alive. She dominated the action from the start but got a little careless when she had Nadine wounded in the fourth. The SSE Arena almost witnessed an improbable turnaround in the fifth but then again Jade is supposedly a genuine elite contender despite being overlooked by her peers in the last couple of years.

Lioness coach Mel B. gets involved in a heated shouting match with the victorious fellow singer which leaves Denise Lewis amused while Jade admits she wouldn't be surprised if Nadine suffered a cracked jaw because "she really deserved it". The unfortunate former Girl Aloud literally crawls back to her corner and doesn't seem to acknowledge further verbal abuse aimed at her by the Beevers' camp. Even Mel B. has had enough of this and shoves Jade back but the West Ham girl keeps her cool and vows to target bigger fish in the BBU pond next: "Tell that Irish cow she's a fuckin' jobber! U know that already, don't you?"

The Beevers' tandem leaves the arena to the tune of defeaning jeers and angry shots but Jade seems to be focused on her rise up to the top of the division again anyway while it's almost back to the draw board time for Nadine instead. Can Christine Bleakley save the Ulster pride next?
