TESS VALMORE

I didn’t do well on my predictions going 2-3 That’s OK for the present as it appears that the bouts are becoming more competitive.

I missed the Johansson/Rickards bout. I thought Johansson was a terrible representative for the US. She had lost four straight and then lost two more after the schedule was made. I picked Rickards to win with the option of changing my mind on what happened in the two fights yet to come. Well the outcomes of those two fights didn’t change my mind. Rickards was going to win. She didn’t. Instead she got KOed in the sixth round.

The Olsen/Min-Hee bout to me was all about experience. Olsen had it and Min- Hee didn’t. Min-Hee was undefeated in six conventional bouts, but when it came to fighting an experienced opponent who was good, it was the experience that paid off.

The Refaeli/Alexander bout was another where on fighter had the experience and the other had by far a better record. Once again the fight went to the fighter with experience fighting good opponents. I picked Alexander to win because Smackey had her ranked way above Refaeli. Do you think he is going to hear about. Oh yes, as far as he is concerned, the storm is coming.

The Brook/Patton bout was between two welters ranked in the top twenty. The only reason they are in the top twenty is they are welters. If they fit into any other division. with their records, they probably either already been gone or way down in the rankings. There was no surprise here Brook won.

In the Winstead/Kerr I violated one of my beliefs. I voted for the fighter with the least amount of fights but the best record by far. over a top fighter with experience. Both are in lightweight top ten, I predicted Kerr would win, but said I hoped I was wrong. I was. Winstead won a tough bout by a KO8.
