Vanessa Hudgens vs Camila Cabello [Flyweights] Result: Lookout/Words: simgrrl

Tale of the Tape
Vanessa Hudgens, Lookout! Boxing (31yo, 5'2",111#, 73W-37L, 66 KOs, 90.4%)
Camila Cabello, Empire Boxing (23yo, 5'2",107#, 9W-10L, 9KOs, 100%)

Before: The two hard-hitting flyweights are on their way to the ring. Vanessa - a four time fly belt holder - has been knocking out girls at a 90.4% rate her whole career while the younger, less experienced, Camila can brag about her KO power - "I've knocked out every woman I've beaten. Only one of them lasted past the fifth round." But the huge difference between them is because Hudgens has won two-thirds of 110 bouts while Cabello has won less than half of just 19 fights!

This will be Camila's first exposure to "the Lookout! method" - as one wag in the media referred to the way the women of Lookout approach their chosen way of earning a living. They're "take no prisoners" approach has drawn criticism from several the other stables and Charlize Theron, of Chimera, has on several occasions been critical of their tactics.

Of course, "the GOAT" has lost three of four to the 'face' of Lookout (Yvonne Strahovski) and she's been embarrassed more than once by Lookout's own "Golden Girl" (Kate Upton). Even bantam Evangeline Lilly took Theron to the cleaners in an event Charlize once "owned" - the Victoria's Secret Body Saddle bout! So it may just be sour grapes or a bit of jealousy about the success of Lookout's younger superstars. Theron had no trouble making it all about "her" as she confidently predicted a Cabello win. "Early," was her one word answer when asked how Camila could pull off an upset.

The 'word on the street' is that if Cabello can't stop Hudgens inside five rounds, her odds go way up. She's only won once after the fifth - in the sixth against Elle Goulding after Goulding appeared to be ready to put Camila away just before the Cuban landed a Hail Mary ("Ave Maria" in Cuban) for a win.

In all ten of her losses Cabello was knocked out (KO6, TKO7, KO6, KO5, KO4, KO5, KO7, KO6, KO5 & KO6). Her nine wins were also by stoppage (KO5, KO3, KO4, KO4, KO5, KO6, KO4, KO4, & KO3) but her record shows Camila's inconsistent. On nights when she's "up" she's dangerous and a threat to any flyweight in the FCBA. But she's still struggling with defense and her record shows she's vulnerable to the kind of right hand Hudgens has shown throughout her career.

Lately, Cabello's been hitting the gym hard and her body showed it at the weigh-in. She's added five or six pounds of muscle, raising her weight above the 105 lb., mark that had been her previous ceiling and it shows in her upper body development.

Lookout Boxing's paid mouthpiece and "maven of the mic", Michelle Trachtenberg, heard spouting the company line...that Hudgens took this fight as a "tune-up" and charity - "to let the Cuban earn a few bucks."

Needless to say, Empire and Camila Cabello don't see it that way. When asked for a comment, Cabello bristled and referred the reporter to her social media account where she'd posted, "We don't have a communications director or someone we pay to talk so we do our talking with our fists in the ring."

Vanessa's wearing her favorite black sports bra - the one with 'Princess' in gold across the front - black shorts with gold stripe down the legs and black gloves with white striking surfaces. Her dark hair is pulled back in a flirty fighting ponytail which seems to be the current fashion in the flyweight division. Lookout's Head Trainer, Nicole Kidman, accompanies Vanessa to the ring accompanied by Elisha Cuthbert and Jenna Louise Coleman. As usual, Michelle Trachtenberg walks with them, talking into her cellphone; recording her thoughts for her blog (link available on the stable website).

The 'Cuban Cutie' is next, flaunting her assets in a crimson sports bra and matching trunks with "Harmony" in gold letters on the front of the waistband. She's also wearing red shoes with gold trim, red gloves and her hair is tied into a messy ponytail with a gold ribbon! Trainer and "Face of the Stable" Kate Beckinsale walks beside Camila - her presence showing how important this fight is to Empire - leaving seconds Jaime Pressly and Cameron Diaz to follow in her wake.

During Rd 1: After the instructions, the bell. Cabello springs right to the attack in typical Cuban style, fighting lefty keeping her right jab in Hudgens face as Vanessa got off to a slow start. Camila perfected a couple of lefty moves during "The Runaways" when she played a lefty and she and Elle Fanning "played around" between takes sparring. It's a tactic Camila tries to confuse opponents early. 'Nessa wasn't bothered because Lookout has a "book" on Cabello from her fight with Beer and analysis of her two fights with Grande (both wins) and her upset of Goulding.
Cabello switches easily back to righty and started to land her left hook to 'Nessa's body while her overhand right rocked the Lookout fighter several times as Hudgens appeared to have more trouble with Camila as a righty after her switch. A left hook hurts Vanessa midway thru the round and Camila takes advantage, piling on with hard rights and lefts, driving Hudgens back into the Empire corner where Camila is able to body up, pinning her on the turnbuckles as she works up and down both flanks, drilling the older brunette with body shots. 'Nessa's in trouble as the referee leans in to check!
Hudgens moving her head, arms up protecting her head, giving Cabello free reign of her body. 'Nessa, staggered by a left hook-right uppercut, sits down on the turnbuckles as the Cuban batters her torso to the left and then to the right with whip-lashing criss-cross punches to the bell. As Camila whirls away, she raises her hands and salsa dances around the ring to the cheers of her fans and waits as Nicole Kidman and her second come to pull Hudgens butt out of the Empire corner and haul her back to Lookout's lair. Cabello finally into her corner to be greeted with hi-fives all 'round. She takes the first round...wide!

Rd 2: Vanessa not yet fully recovered as the second stanza gets underway and the veteran does her best to keep away from the eager Cuban, but when she can't avoid contact, Hudgens quick to clinch; bogging down Cabello and slowing the action. Empire fans - and fans of wild, uninhibited action, voicing their displeasure at 'Nessa's tactics as Cabello's frustration mounts. Camila landing hard body shots when she can corner Hudgens and the leggy Cuban giving her older opponent a rough time in the clinches, digging into Hudgens' flat abs with stinging lefts and rights; but it's rare she's able to land telling shots to Vanessa's head. But when she does, the effect is visible as Hudgens is rocked and even wobbly-kneed on several occasions.
'Nessa's experience showing, however, as she's able to weather the storm getting in just enough of her own to avoid the referee warning her for her delaying tactics. Cabello begins stepping back, slipping out of Vanessa's grasp as she tries to initiate clinches; giving Camila openings to land long-range bombs that stagger Hudgens twice in the first two minutes of the round but Vanessa starts mounting a counterattack, taking advantage of Cabello's reckless attempts to end the fight this round.
Camila with a left hook, right cross combination; the left high on 'Nessa's head sending her left into the path of the Cuban's right hand. But Hudgens, somehow, avoids the right and lands a right of her own to Cabello's jaw. DOWN GOES CAMILA! Cabello swept off her feet by the quick reaction right and sits down blinking up at the grinning Hudgens - who (honestly) looks almost as surprised as Camila!
The Cuban to one knee at five, smartly waits to rise at nine, gaining a few more seconds as the ref wipes off her gloves. Vanessa rushes onto the attack, landing a glancing left and a solid right hand that staggers the still dazed Cuban. Cabello with her back on the ropes, ducking, bobbing and moving her head side-to-side but can't get out from in front of Hudgens who puts her should under Camila's chin and bludgeons the younger woman's lithe body with a flurry of breath-stealing blows. At the bell, Cabello hanging on around Vanessa's shoulders, her cheek on 'Nessa's shoulder as Hudgens drives right hands up under Camila's breasts. Referee jumps in to part them and this time it's Vanessa Hudgens walking back with her arms raised as Camila sits on the middle rope bent over sucking oxygen.
Hudgens, thanks to the knockdown in minute two, wins the round wide with the one-sided beating she dished out for the rest of the round.

Rd 3: Back and forth action continues into the third with Vanessa in control from the start in a complete reversal of round two, with Hudgens now the aggressor and Cabello tying 'Nessa up to give herself a chance to catch her second wind. Camila not as accomplished at stalling as Hudgens who lands several combinations that hurt the young Cuban early.
Camila's conditioning - and a 9 year age difference in their ages - eventually allows Cabello to work her way back into the round. By the bell, Camila's getting the better of their exchanges and has pretty much evened things up on the cards. Only Hudgens early advantage, was enough to earn her the points though Camila's late charge made it much closer than it would have otherwise been.

Rd 4: Camila puts a stop to Vanessa's offensive from the bell and retakes control of the fight in the first minute, though 'Nessa's veteran wiles give her enough chances as she does a good job of countering Cabello's power-punching with quick inside counters that, while they lack the oomph of the Cuban's punches, still make enough of an impression on Cabello to make her wary.
Hudgens generating something of a threat of her own midway, briefly buckling Camila's legs with a right hand. She follows up with a combination that forces Cabello to back up for the first time in the round. Just when it looks like Vanessa's onto something, the stubborn Cuban sits Vanessa Hudgens down with a straight right hand!
Hudgens sprawling, rolling onto her back, feet bicycling in the air as Cabello leans over her glaring and shaking her fists at the stunned older brunette. For the second time in the fight a fighter has to struggle to rise to her feet and once more the referee has to wipe off her gloves before waving her opponent back in. Like Camila in the second, Vanessa uses the extra seconds to collect herself and makes a stubborn withdrawal as Cabello surges forward to attack. Camila's quick hands find openings as 'Nessa tries to fend off punches with her open hands, slapping aside punches then grabbing to hug Hudgens. Referee earning his pay breaking them apart with Cabello leaping right back in to land a punch or two before Vanessa can grab and hang on to slow things down. Cabello had a slender early advantage, then she took control after the knockdown and dominated Hudgens to the bell.

Rd 5: Camila, keeping her foot on the pedal, continues her domination of 'Nessa to open the fifth. Hudgens looking cranky; slow off the mark; Cammy takes advantage of her youth and enthusiasm and quits headhunting to start softening up Vanessa's suddenly-old-looking body. Cabello showing uncharacteristic restraint early in the round, setting her feet and leaning in, putting all of her 100+ pounds into each riveting body shot. Hudgens body wilting under the unrelenting barrage of torso-testing blows.
As Vanessa reaches out to clinch, Camila steps in and digs rights and lefts behind and below Hudgens' elbows. The Cuban's knee-buckling body assault continues with little offense coming back from the older brunette. The round winds to a conclusion with Vanessa Hudgens doubled over, her butt stuffed in the ropes as Cabello finally eases up on her body punching and starts to go for the finishing knockout, but Hudgens is saved by the bell and the referee jumps in, cradles her, wraps her up and guides the body-shocked brunette back to Lookout's corner where trainer Nicole Kidman and both seconds grab her and begin to do damage control. Cabello stands watching for a moment before turning and bouncing back to her corner after easily winning the round on points, wide.

Rd 6: Camila, picking up where she left off in the fifth, continues to dominate and Vanessa can't get her butt off the ropes for most of the first minute of the round. Cabello having her way with 'Nessa who, during one clinch, looked over at Kidman in her corner and shook her head as if unable to believe what was happening to her.
Midway, nothing has changed with Camila starting to headhunt, looking to end this in her favor. Hudgens tying Camila up in clinches, but the Cuban managing to work one hand free to continue to slug. A left hook staggers Hudgens who is sent reeling back into the ropes.
As Cabello surges forward with her right drawn back, 'Nessa springs off the ropes to beat her to the punch with a huge right of her own! Camila stopped in her tracks, her knees buckling, then she flings her arms around Vanessa's waist and buries her face in the shallow canyon of 'Nessa's bosom as she hugs her and hangs on.
Vanessa presses her left forearm in Camila's face to lever it back, then slugs her in the left cheek with her right. She's about to hit her again when the referee wraps her up and pulls her back; giving her a simguy worthy finger-wagging warning before checking Camila, who nods she's OK, then waves them back together.
Cabello again trying to tie up Vanessa, but Hudgens has the scent of victory in her nostrils and won't be denied. She pounds a left-right combo off Camilla's face, then comes back with a big right uppercut unhinges the Cuban's legs and Camila drops like a puppet with the strings cut, landing on her butt, then rolling onto her back with her feet bicycling in the air!
There's still a minute left as Camila, writhing around like a flipped turtle, manages to struggle to her knees shaking to clear it. But as she tries to rise, she pitches forward onto her face at Hudgens' feet as the referee tolls "TEN!" Vanessa Hudgens has snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with a "miracle" comeback KO6!

After: Vanessa stands over Camila, her right foot on the back of Cabello's head as the referee raises her hand. Heaving a relived sigh, Hudgens' grabs Camila under the arms and yanks her roughly to her feet and, holding her with both arms around her chest, Cabello's arms hanging limp at her sides, 'Nessa drags the semi-conscious Cuban cutey over to Lookout's corner where she stuffs Camila's firm butt between the middle and lower turnbuckles.

Kidman stands on the apron leaning on the top rope, speaking to Vanessa and shaking her head as she does. Hudgens snaps angrily at her trainer, her mouthguard flying out and hitting Kidman in the chest. At ringside, Michelle Trachtenberg is yapping at Cuthbert who is (apparently) supporting Kidman, but Michelle and Jenna Louise Coleman are agreeing with Hudgens, because Coleman is heard to scream, "We've got to send a message to the rest of the flyweights not to..." the rest was lost in the roar of the crowd who had seen Kate Beckinsale, Jamie Pressly and Cameron Diaz climb into the ring in the Empire corner, duck through the ropes and were stalking across the ring toward the Lookout corner where Hudgens and Lookout were oblivious to the approaching storm!

Beckinsale grabbed Hudgens by the shoulder, spun her around and shoved her at Pressly who caught the little brunette and bear-hugged her, lifting her off her feet, then tossing her several feet onto the canvas. Nicole had reached over the top rope trying to grab Hudgens to protect her, but she was too late. Beckinsale grabbed Nicole's arm and a handful of hair and started to drag the screaming redhead over the ropes into the ring while Pressly and Diaz scooped up Cabello and started back to their corner with the dazed Cuban between them.

Once Kate got Nicole inside the ring, she pushed her back against the ropes, holding her by the hair as she wound up and belly punched her, knocking the breath out of the redheaded trainer. Kate was drawing back for a second one when she got jumped by Trachtenberg and Cuthbert. Jenna Louise was still climbing into the ring when Pressly and Diaz turned back to help Beckinsale after dropping Cabello on the canvas in her corner.

Pressly and Cuthbert squared off and circled with clenched fists raised but Cam Diaz just grabbed Trachtenberg by the hair and started swinging her around in a circle. Kidman took advantage of Beckinsale having turned her back on her when she was forced to deal with Elisha and Michelle's sneak attack. Nicole wrapped both arms around Kate's head and put her in a Sleeper Hold, pulling her down with her as she sat down and wrapped her wiry legs around Beckinsale, trapping one of her arms inside her legs. As Kate pawed at Nicole's arms, Jenna Coleman arrived just in time to kick Beckinsale in the chest, knocking the breath out of her. Jenna didn't hang around, however, since Trachtenberg needed her help as well in dealing with Diaz.

As Cuthbert and Pressly traded right hands with little thought of defense, Coleman and Trachtenberg managed to wrestle Cam Diaz off her feet and as they squirmed and wriggled in a tangle of arms and legs on the mat, another figure entered the ring bent on 'sending a message' of her own!

Emma Roberts hitched up her skirt as she clambered up the steps in the Empire corner where Cabello was sitting up holding her head. Roberts stepped over Camila and made a beeline for Vanessa Hudgens who was standing up holding onto the ropes while she tried to get her balance after being swung around by Diaz eight or ten times.

Emma kidney punched 'Nessa, knocking her down, then mounted her and began to slap her with flurry of two-hand slaps, each landing with a loud CRACK that got the attention of fans standing on that side of the ring craning their necks to see the action involving the other women in the ring. Emma and 'Nessa had developed quite the heated rivalry in the last couple of years - thanks in part to the cruel way Roberts dealt with Vanessa's sister, Stella, in 2018. Since then, Emma and 'Nessa have taken turns humiliating each other - both inside the ring and in social media. Now it looks like Emma has the upper hand once more...

Emma straddled Vanessa's chest, pinning her gloved hands with her knees, then began to slowly slap Hudgens face, pausing after each SMACK to make some kind of clever remark - or insult, depending on which woman you were a fan of.

While Emma was taking advantage of Vanessa's being vulnerable and unprotected by the stable, Kate, Jamie and Cameron were (pretty much) being taken to the woodshed by Nicole, Elisha and the duo of Michelle and Jenna Louise - who despite their 2:1 advantage, still had their hands full with scrappy ol' Cam Diaz!

There's no way of knowing what may have finally happened - all the battles were far from resolved when the FCBA's crack team of three low-paid, part-time, security guards showed up and "rock, paper, scissored" to see who got to pull Nicole and Kate apart and which one tried to keep Pressly and Cuthbert apart. (The loser would have to deal with Diaz, Trachtenberg and Coleman on his own).

That left Roberts with a clear field to continue to show Hudgens "who's the boss" but just when it looked like that show was going to slip into NSFW territory - and someone in the FCBA-TV truck was looking for simguy's old copy of "Swan Lake" - Stella Hudgens arrived to rescue her older sister, 'Nessa!

Roberts took one look Stella's face...and at the three women with Stella... and decided discretion was the better part of valor. "You haven't seen the last of me..." she snarled over her shoulder as she scampered across the ring and slid out under the bottom rope as Stella and her posse arrived just after the nick of time.

We haven't seen the last of this rivalry, that's for sure!
