Katheryn: 42 YO, 5’4 (1.63 m), 26-10-0, 26 KO since 2017, The Dollhouse

Before: “This is a fight between two pretty athletic fighters,” says Shay, “and I welcome that. I may have a couple of inches in height on Katheryn and I am younger, but I have seen how dangerous she can be. I am not taking this fight at all lightly. I will have to be at the top of my game to beat her.”

“Nice words, Shay,” Katheryn says, “shows you are smart enough not to provoke me by mentioning I’ve lost 4 of my last 5 fights. I do not like losing and the fact that you are young and taller is no excuse for my not winning. So you are right to think you will need to be at the top of your game, but it won’t be enough to keep from ending this drought here and now. See you in the ring.”

With those curt words, Katheryn exits the stage. Shay looks bewildered, but then shrugs and says: “I’ll see you, too, Katheryn.” And makes her own exit.

Shay comes to the ring in a black hi-cut one piece swimsuit with white gloves and boots (black laces). Dark hair pulled back in a braid. Katheryn in white sports bra with black trim, short white trunks with black trim, black boots with white laces, white and black gloves. Blonde hair in a simple ponytail. Ring instructions proceed smoothly. Both fighters looking quietly eager to get this going. Tap of the gloves and they go to their corners. The bell rings.

R1: Katheryn attacks with vigor driving Shay back onto her heels with a shifting barrage of head and body shots. Katheryn showing a lot of footwork that seems to be giving Shay a lot of trouble as she tries to counter. Then Katheryn lands a couple of solid uppercuts to the chin an Shay is covering up her head, but this gives Katheryn the chance to swab Shay belly and robs with swabbing rights and lefts. Shay soon all hunched up, still protecting her head, but getting worked over to the flanks as the round draws to a close. Round goes wide to Katheryn Winnick/

R2: Katheryn resumes her attack to the body in this round, but Shay is landing better counters to Katheryn’s body this round. Katheryn not having as much luck faking Shay out now, but she is still landing solid hooks to the brunette’s body. Shay grimacing at the blows, but she is giving it right back to Katheryn’s breasts and stomach. Two circle and duel at point blank range. Then Katheryn sneaks an overhand right that clips Shay on the jaw. Shay shudders and Katheryn pumps more hooks into Shay’s body. Shay is answers, but is still being back up as the round ends. Katheryn takes the round, but Shay made a lot closer this time.

R3: New round gets going, but Shay Mitchell out more quickly this time and cracks a right hard to Katheryn’s jaw to get things started. The blow rocks the smaller blonde, though she tries to shake it off as Shay follows up with hard punching to the sides and the head. Katheryn looking wobbly as she ducks away to regroup, but Shay is quick to follow. Brisk exchange of head shots follows, but Katheryn seems to get the worst of it. The blonde is again wobbling and has her mitts up around her face. Shay pumping leather into Katheryn’s belly and ribs, backing her up and apparently looking to get the blonde on the ropes. Katheryn steadying behind her jab manages to stay off the strands to the bell. However Shay Mitchell has won her first round by a wide margin.

R4: Katheryn attempting to attack early in the new round, but Shay is ready with quick firing jabs to the face that stall the blonde’s attack. Then Shay comes back with fast hooks into the belly to tip Katheryn forward, then brings rising punches into Katheryn’s overhanging upper body and face. Katheryn is being over hard and she tries to back away. Shay keeping up the pressure. Katheryn begins to get her jab going late in the round and gives Shay a couple of stingers to the breasts, but Shay keeps coming, working Katheryn’s head until time runs out on the round. Shay wins another round wide.

R5: Shay right back at Katheryn after the opening bell, but Katheryn battles back. Sharp exchange of head swiveling head shots that cause both fighters to momentarily pause before returning to action. This time they go to the body and at point-blank range with start hammering away at each other from breast to rib cage to stomach. It seems even for much of the round, but then Katheryn seems to dig in with her feet and gets extra power into her body punching. Shay being pushed back by the smaller woman and it is enough to put the round into Katheryn’s side of the judges’ cards after the bell.

R6: Katheryn seems eager to pick up where she left off as R6 gets started. Katheryn moving in close, but Shay is using her superior reach to try to keep the blonde at a distance. Katheryn trying to working her way in under Shay’s long range punch and seems about to come popping up in close. Unfortunately, Shay sees her coming and Katheryn comes out of her crouch she takes a big clouting left to the jaw and then a big clouting right to the opposite side of the jaw. Katheryn staggered and then Shay unleashes a ripping right uppercut to the chin. Katheryn’s head snaps back and suddenly her legs give way! Katheryn crashes onto her side and lies there stunned. Shay hastens to the neutral corner. Referee moves in to count. Katheryn trying to stand up, but her legs not coopersating. She keeps struggling, but can’t get her body to obey.

“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!...YER OUT!”

THE WINNER SHAY MITCHELL DEFEATS KATHERYN WINNICK (KO6!)

After: “She gave me a lot of trouble,” Shay admits to press after the fight, “I hope I can hit like that when I am her age. I was fortunate to be able to knock her out. It was a very satisfying win for me.”

“Of course I am disappointed,” Katheryn says later, “I was keeping up with Shay—most of the time—but I gave her an opening and she used it to win. I don’t want to dwell on it too much. I have a losing streak to break so I need to focus on my next fight.”

A very competitive bout with Katheryn Winnick getting off to a good early start, but then being overtaken by Shay Mitchell, Katheryn did seem to rally in the 5th, but tried to get in close with Shay waiting to lower the boom on the effort. It was a good win for Shay Mitchell. Surely a disappointment for Katheryn Winnick, but with the hope better results will come soon. In summary, entertaining bout for FCBA fans.
