Intro: Final bout of the quarter final round, Elsa Hosk and Cara Delevingne both want to get a step closer to the European Cup here in Ireland's 3Arena, which one will take that step?
Going off their first round fights Elsa disposed of her opponent Clara Alonso easier then Cara did with Sara Sampaio, Cara has prior experience in a tournament format though with her run in the New Blood Tournament several years ago to the final.
As Alicia Atout heads into Hosk's locker room, she sees the Swede shadow boxing to warm up, she nods to Alicia but doesn't really look like she wants to be disrupt.
When she finishes up Elsa turns to Alicia, telling her "look Alicia I don't have that much to say, you know as everyone else in this tournament I want the cup, I have more seemingly to prove though then any other fighter in here" bouncing on her toes to keep ticking over.
"Getting cut from Emilia's stable just shows I need to work harder to prove myself, when I win this tournament I expect an apology from them for cutting me before the biggest event of my life, maybe I'll answer the phone to them" continues Elsa before she waves Alicia to leave so she can talk to her coach.
Alicia gets a more friendly reception from Cara, who is talking to her coach as her best friend Suki Waterhouse is telling her she has this sewn up tonight.
The English lass tells Alicia "hey, so here we are, finally the big event is here and I am so ready for this, Suzi has been working out beside me throughout this, my coach has been helping me out so much, this is my time to take the spotlight here in the FCBA" smiling as she looks excited.
Asked about Elsa, Cara admits "she is a good fighter, very underrated like myself because our records don't show how good we are, I won't take her lightly"
Suzi jumps in to say "yeah but Cara is going to batter that dumb bytch, Elsa won't know what has hit her till she is back in her locker room" laughing to herself as Cara just grins and nods, Alicia getting a fist bump from Cara before she goes.
Fighting time; out comes Elsa with her coach behind her, she is wearing a blue satin robe, heading down the aisle with a hard look on her face, the chip on her shoulder clear to see.
As Elsa steps into the ring, the robe comes off to reveal a yellow bikini with blue trim, blue gloves, while her hair is tied back into a fighting ponytail.
Cara now heads out with her coach in tow, she waves to the fans who still seem mixed on her, especially with her wearing a white robe with the iconic three lions on the back.
Taking the robe off before she gets into the ring, Cara is wearing a St. George's cross style bikini top with white bottoms, red gloves, while her hair is in a ponytail too.
Heading to the center of the ring, both women bounce on their toes as they stare into the others eyes, the referee finishes up their instructions.
Bumping their gloves into their opponent's with a crack of leather, not much love here as both fighters jog back to their corners, ready to start 10 rounds of lightweight action.
Round 1: Circling flicking out jabs to start, neither rushing out with big shots, a mistake right away could be massive for their tournament future then just this fight.
Elsa switches the script after the opening minute, feinting with her jab to fire an overhand right to the cheek of Cara, who maybe got too comfortable with the slow pace, Delevingne eating a left across her jaw to follow.
Taking the center of the ring, Elsa controls the pace of the round, taking some jabs and straights to her cheeks, she is landing the bigger punches as cross punches keep making Cara retreat back.
A straight buries itself between the gloves of Cara, knocking the English lass near the ropes, where she eats two more punches into her cheeks before she clinches up.
The bell rings to end the round not that long after, Elsa smirking as she returns to her corner, drinking as she sits, Elsa getting the thumbs up from her coach for that strong start.
Round 2: Looking to build off the first row, Elsa comes out trying to press forwards on the front foot, landing some crisp punches to the face of Cara as she does.
But she misses with a right cross as Cara leans out the way, instead an uppercut lands to her chin, an overhand left smacks Hosk across her face to follow up.
Both land several combos to the others face, Cara dips under a left hook to slam in two rights to the ribs of Elsa, the overhand left again landing flush.
That punch seems to be giving Elsa some real trouble during the round, she is able to land a good two or three punch combo, her momentum is then stopped by that pesky overhand left.
With Cara able to muscle Elsa to the ropes after drilling her with a left/right straight into the Swede's breadbasket, driving back Hosk with two overhand punches to force her behind her gloves.
Where Elsa stays for the remaining thirty seconds of the round, she looks annoyed as she returns to her corner, slapping the top turnbuckle with her right, her coach reminding her she had a strong first round.
Across the ring Cara gets a nod from her coach, she looks a little more relaxed, maybe trying to save her energy more of the two fighters, risky if she loses her of course then it was a waste of time.
Round 3: Bashing straight punches into each others cheeks to kick off the round, they circle at the center, moving their upper bodies more when they realise maybe not the smartest to slug it out just yet.
Cara slips a straight to hammer in a right to the body, followed by two lefts to the ribs as she steps closer to her opponent, trying to power her backwards to the ropes.
Instead she gets shoved back by Elsa, who lands a left/right into the forehead of Delevingne, knocking the English babe backwards, forcing the action back to the center.
Where it is closely fought, Cara working nicely on the inside, targeting the body more of the two, Elsa landing nasty looking across punches to the top of Cara's head to ward her back.
In the final minute of the row, Cara lands a left hook to the jaw of Elsa, a straight into the mouth of Hosk makes her grin as she begins to break the deadlock.
Knocking back Elsa into a corner, where she keeps her pinned behind her mitts while switching targets, barking out as she plants her feet to land, just before the bell rings Cara takes a left across her mouth as she lowered her right too much.
At the bell Cara still pumps her right fist into the air, though her coach reminds her not to keep her guard so low when on the attack, that last shot in the round a warning to what could come.
Round 4: Starting to double up her jab more to smack back the head of Cara, Elsa is looking to take control of the center sooner then before, forcing Cara to move around the outside.
Elsa landing more crisper punches now, Cara trying to be a hard target to hit with her movement, getting clipped across her cheeks though when she tries to move in closer.
Dipping down to work the abs of Elsa as they pass the halfway point of the round, Cara looks to be clawing back some ground till she eats a slapping left to her ear, an uppercut then straightens her up into a jab on her nose.
Smelling a little blood in the water, Elsa bashes back Cara to the ropes with a jab/straight into her face, Cara tightening up her guard as she is put under some real pressure now.
Pulling Elsa into a clinch, Cara looks angry at the situation she has been put into, the referee breaking them up as Elsa looks the more keener to engage, hunting down Cara around the ring as they trade single punches straight into the others stunning faces.
The round comes to a close with Elsa bashing her gloves together as she returns to her corner, looking to be firing up again after being subdued by Cara's inside fighting over the past two rounds.
Round 5: Stepping back out their corners looking ready to trade, fists are flying along with the sweat off of heads, Cara ducks a straight to hammer in two rights to the body.
A double jab smacks back Cara though, with a right cross catching her to the jaw as she tries to step in closer, Elsa now forcing Delevingne backwards.
Back and forth they go again, slamming in some beautiful punches to faces, which are now marked up around the cheeks, Elsa keeping Cara at bay with her extra reach.
In fact she leans out the way of a right hook from Cara, slamming a double jab into her cheek before an uppercut to knock back Cara to her heels, where she can power her back into a corner.
Now forced to shield herself from the different punches coming from Elsa, Cara is understandably looking uncomfortable, taking a few digs to her ribs to make her groan loudly out.
Firing back mostly single punches into the cheeks of Elsa, before slamming a right into her mouth, Cara gets herself out the corner just as the bell rings to end the round.
Sitting on their stools, the momentum is definitely going towards the Swedish fighter, Cara being told she needs to fight smarter, she nods as she knows that she needs to improve or face elimination.
Round 6: Moving her upper body more as she looks for different angles to strike from, Cara taking a few clipping punches around the top of her head but is mostly landing the cleaner punches around the waistband of Elsa's bottoms.
Trying to shove back Cara, instead Elsa takes a left hook onto her chin, that opens her up to three more clean punches to her face as she gets reeled backed towards the ropes.
Elsa eats another left hook to the chin, wobbly legs now as Cara piles on the pressure, AN UPPERCUT LANDS TO SEND ELSA ONTO HER BACK WITH TWO MINUTES TO GO!
Cara raises her arms in the air as she jogs to the neutral corner, 1...2...3... Elsa bends her right leg but is blinking as she tries to clear her head, 4...5...6...7.. Trying to push her way up, Elsa turns to all fours but is shaky armed, 8...9...10 she can't find the strength to get up!
Winner Cara Delevingne KO Round 6
After: Bouncing on her toes as she whoops, Cara was pushed as expected by Elsa, she has shown her grit to dig in and now has a date with Karolina Kurkova in the semi finals.
Jogging to her corner, Cara hugs her coach to thank them for their support and help, they remind her that she still needs to win two fights to win it all, making them laugh as Cara admits she nearly forgot that, so used to one fight a night.
While Elsa is helped to get back to her stool by her second, she looks down at the canvas as if wanting it to swallow her up, she wanted to prove a point and maybe has proven the opposite.
Her coach trying to console her, reminding her she looked great to get this far, with some more work she will come back stronger in their eyes, she wipes some tears away as she nods.
When both women come to the center of the ring for the final result to be announced, Cara pats Elsa on the shoulder and tells her it was a good fight, making Elsa thank her and wish her luck in the rest of the tournament.
After Cara gets her hand raised by the referee, Elsa leaves the ring with her coaching staff, she looks up to the ceiling as if wondering why this happened tonight, she was building momentum but she got caught out, that was it for her dreams of lifting the trophy up.
Inside the ring Cara blows kisses to her fans before getting her photo taken, Cara looking proud as a peach as her coach stands beside her for the photo.
Leaving the ring, Cara has a massive smile on her face, she is marked up but doesn't look too sore yet, two more fights to go if she is to win this tournament though, big hitter Karolina awaits. |
