BEFORE:
We’re LIVE at yet another Doll Ball and tonight, sweet Scottish sensation Lauren Mayberry enters her second bout this year against The Wannabe’s Sammi Hanratty. Lots to like on the tale of the tape for this pair of fighters, who first meet at the center podium for an official staredown. Lauren has a one-inch height disadvantage, but it’s Sammi’s bulkier build that shows the most contrast between the two, making many consider Sammi the favorite here tonight thanks to her physique alone.

Later on in the press conference, Mayberry speaks first from her seat at the table, looking slightly nervous after having lost two fights in a row ever since her defeat last November at the hands of Brec Bassinger, and then another stinging loss against Anna Kendrick back in March this year:

"I decided to take a few months off to recharge and reevaluate after my last two fights didn't go too well for me. But…I feel like I'm ready to finally get another win tonight. Sammi is definitely strong - she was able to beat Hayley last year pretty convincingly… so I know this is dangerous fight for me.” Lauren chuckles. “I’m hoping I can find a way to take her down. I think I will. Hayley is here to watch it, so I can’t really let her down you know…" Lauren says to reporters with a wink.

The sweetheart of the Dollhouse is up against a partly-controversial figure in the FCBA, with Sammi also sporting a mixed bag of results over the years both inside and out the ring, having participated in Apartment House Wrestling bouts and other post-match shenanigans with the rest of the Flyweight division. She’s of course no stranger to the Dollhouse roster, having gone up against the club’s entire Flyweight roster barring Mayberry, but managing to come on top only against the Paramore front lady. Tonight, she makes it four times, the fit blonde holding up four fingers as she grins from the table.

“Glad to be back, and glad to have to opportunity to kick another Doll’s ass. Emma and Avril may gotten lucky but you’ve seen what I can do against Hayley…Lauren’s looks all soft and gooey on the inside. I can’t wait to yank her head off and see what kind of stuff she’s really made off.” Sammi giggles. “I hope you know I don’t take prisoners when I’m in that ring…just ask your friend Hayley.”

Few hours later and we’re ready for our first bout of the night as Sammi enters the arena first, silver sparkles going off on stage complementing her sparkling silver-wear as well: a shimmering bikini top and bottom mixed with a pair of black gloves. Hanratty has her blonde hair braided down back. Lauren’s entrance is explosive by comparison: twirling golden streamers mixed with loud playback of indie-pop music by her band CHVRCHES as the gorgeous tiny brunette emerges from behind the curtains accompanied by head trainer Kristanna Loken. Lauren is clad in her light pink top and black mid-thigh tights for bottoms, her dark brown hair loose as she waves in all directions, taking in the adoration of her fans who showed up to see her back in the ring after a short hiatus.

Referee calls this fight to order as both blonde and brunette stare each other down in the center of the ring. Sammi’s still seen smirking playfully as the referee asks them to touch gloves, which both girls do, albeit reluctantly. With a wave of his hand, HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
Very defensive start from Lauren Mayberry, who perhaps wants to play it cautious after her past two losses still left ringing true in her head. She controls Sammi’s advance well enough, jabbing at the overeager blonde by contrast, with Sammi eager to close the distance and brawl like she’s done with other gals like Victoria Justice and Kendra Wilkinson. But she hasn’t faced someone as fast and agile as Lauren though, who constantly moves backwards with some expert footwork, using her right jab to frustrate the blonde by poking at her chest and brow throughout these three minutes. Hanratty growls in frustration towards the end of the round, still rushing in stubbornly to snag a left hook on the singer’s body, but a follow-up swing barely missing Mayberry’s arms. A great opening round for Lauren indeed, who finds herself back in the groove of things, hopefully for the long run.

ROUND 2:
Lauren plays it straight and refuses to engage Sammi in all-out warfare. Just as well, because Sammi’s known for her power advantage, and who knows how long (or short) this match will last once the blonde manages to sink her teeth into the petite singer. Mayberry doing well though in the first minute, jabbing frequently towards Sammi’s head, leaving the blonde in a wake of trouble as she tries and fails to rush in and pin Mayberry down. However, towards the middle mark, Hanratty surprises the Doll with a sudden SMACK of a right hand into the middle of her arms - two can play at the long-range game as the two women resort to hurting each other with jabs from afar, packing into the body and guard. Not a good sign for Lauren, who appears to be holding her own for now - the Doll has always traditionally relied on her speed AND distance to run away with points. Now, with Sammi also playing the long distance game, she’s scoring less often and also taking more damage. Hanratty adapts well towards the end of the third minute, stunning Mayberry again with a short but powerful cross hand into her body before Lauren scoots herself out of the way of more damage.

ROUND 3:
Dollhouse management probably assumed that Mayberry stood a decent enough chance of winning this match and finally put a stop to the poor girl’s losses. Mayberry told to focus her energies on moving and gunnin’, maybe first tire Sammi out so that she can go the distance and then begin to put the blonde away. But Sammi also instructed to play the long game tool, and the first minute sees a curious dance and circling of girls as Lauren jabs at her foe’s face from afar but mostly hits the arms and body. Sammi biding her time by contrast, her arms locked over her face as she sacrifices some hits to her abs, but otherwise is waiting for an opportune moment to FIRE a cross-hand in, hard and fast! Lauren gets caught by this move more than once, wincing and grunting as she’s thrown off balance repeatedly by the blonde’s power. Thankfully, the Doll’s done just enough for her to take the round by a close margin, but things aren’t looking too bright in the long run if she’d thought she’d be dominating at this point.

ROUND 4:
Issue with Mayberry is that she’s always been seen as a one-trick pony - she can’t possibly rush in to hang and bang with someone bulkier and packing more powerful like Sammi, so the only thing she can do is fall back and try to pick her opponent off from afar. Sammi this time playing it aggressive again, sensed blood and now having a good feel of what her opponent can and cannot do. Hanratty’s ignoring the jabs fired at her head as she wades in a little closer and closer, herding Lauren back into a corner and towards the ropes. Dollhouse personnel roaring with advice from their corner but Mayberry just too focused on not getting her face punched in, sorta panics at the sight of the bigger blonde barreling in towards her all of a sudden. Sammi catches her with a right hook to the tummy before another swing SMACK - lands on the side of the head. Lauren in trouble, getting herself thrown about like a ragdoll in close quarters... Another chopping uppercut rattles her up into the chin and a follow-up BLAST to the middle of her chin does the trick - MAYBERRY STUMBLES BACK AND FALLS, hits the canvas hard down on her side! It’s a KNOCKDOWN good and early for Sammi Hanratty!!

Mayberry’s face screwed up in abject pain as she rolls over and over, first onto her back and then back onto her chest, all this while clutching at her chin. We don’t think she’s getting up from this one, folks! Referee performing his due and counting the poor Scot all the way up to ten, leaving a beaming Hanratty grinning in her neutral corner with one arm raised high! It’s all over in early fashion!!

Official Decision: Sammi Hanratty defeats Lauren Mayberry via KO4!

AFTER:
Another bad night for the Scottish singer, who can’t seem to catch a bloody break in the ring lately, with this marking her third straight loss. Management should probably go a little easier on her in the future if they want to keep her fightin’ long-term - Mayberry almost in tears herself as she sits up on the ropes, with the medics swarming over her in order to check that swollen cheek.

Sammi by contrast just milking her win all the way to the bank, parading about all four corners of the ring with her hands raised high. She scatters the ring officials as she approaches Mayberry’s corner, licking her lips as she grabs Lauren roughly by the ponytail and proceeds to drag her to the middle of the ring for more showboating. Lauren’s shrieks are heard throughout the arena but not much she can do as she is thrown to the mat by the stronger blonde, with Sammi planting her foot into her pale midsection, pinning her to the canvas with a hoof!

More mocking and gloating from the Wannabes starlet, as Sammi makes her statement clear and simple: she’s not to be trifled with, now 2-2 in terms of performance against the Dolls. However, even she can’t compete with the sudden rush of Dollhouse personnel who flood the ring anew, themselves not about to tolerate a member of their own household getting humiliated for long, especially on their turf.

Sammi still laughing wildly as she bolts from the ring, sliding under the bottom ropes and then gesturing rudely from the safety of the apron. Sammi approaches one of the cameras outside the ring, wanting to send a message to Lauren’s mates. “Hey Avril…Emma…I know you guys think very highly of yourselves so I doubt you’ll even consider this…but if any of you bitches want to try me again….I’d LOVE to show you what I can do with another chance. I mean, just ask Lauren here…when she’s able to speak again.” Sammi ends with a playful laugh, waving at the camera before turning her back to it and strutting towards the backstage area to the cheers of her very ecstatic fans. The blonde goes up to 2-1 for the year and the future might just be pretty bright for her if she keeps it up as she waves her thanks to the fans on the way up the ramp, whilst Mayberry is finally able to make it back to her feet inside the ring with the help of the Dollhouse medical team, leaving her with some soul-searching to do after a disastrous night like this.
