5. Hannah Ferguson vs Kim Riekenberg (FCBA Debut)
Hannah: (27, 5’10, 130, 44:11 FCBA, VIXENs)
Kim: (20, 5’10, FCBA Debut, Free Agent)
BEFORE: “Remind you of anyone?” Hannah smirks, gesturing over to her blonde counterpart for tonight’s contest as Kim Riekenberg looks confused for a moment. “Yeah, I heard she looks like a younger, hotter Brooklyn Decker. It’ll be fun to punch her face in whilst I wait for my rematch.”
The facial similarities aside, Kim is a newcomer to the world of boxing, and apparently descends from German heritage. She speaks with a slight accent as well, though her English is perfect.
“I was wondering why a legend like Hannah wanted to fight me. Her camp called up mine one day and everyone was just shocked for a moment. I see that I’m being used as promotional material between a larger feud. No matter,” Kim shakes her head before continuing. “Hannah’s in for a rude awakening if she thinks i”m just gonna roll over and die. I’ll show her tonight how a younger Decker fights!”
Ladies square off at the podium and it does look like a similar clash from an earlier chapter between blonde rivals. Kim and Hannah are both the same height and built, so it’s really a contest of experience versus beginning’s luck. Ladies bump fists a little roughly when called to hours later in the ring, Hannah still looking smug in her amber bikini and red gloves, with Kim wincing slightly as she returns to her own corner in a white swimsuit and black gloves. Referee waves his hand to start and HERE we go with ten rounds of Welterweight action!
ROUND 1: Kim proves resilient in her debut, moving fast and avoiding an all-out confrontation with the head Vixen. Hannah tries to close distance and brawl, as predicted, throwing plenty of jabs at the rookie's head but not landing as frequently as she'd like with Kim focusing on her defense and moving backwards constantly. Riekenberg shows promise as she stuns the blonde back at her own game with jabs in between landing on the face, giving Hannah frequent pause as she concedes the first round to a newcomer. Seething, the Vixen needs to dig deep if she wants to get out of this slump, whereas Kim is all smiles as she bumps fists with her trainers back in the corner.
ROUND 2: But that hit-and-run strategy doesn't work for long as Ferguson chooses to trade blows with her counterpart for this second round, both blondes mailing each other on the nose and mouth as they exchange long jabs mixed with cross hands. Kim, eating the first significant abuse since the beginning of this fight, grunts as she’s pushed back from the experienced fighter’s attacks which are landing more frequently and effectively. Kim however, doing her best to frustrate the Vixen’s dominance, gets in a few shots to her chin and cheek before the girls break once more to circle and recoup. Regardless of what Hannah says, Kim’s definitely holding her ground thus far against the veteran fighter!
ROUND 3: SMACK across the face mid-round has Hannah looking back in shock as the younger blonde lands a hook across her cheek out of nowhere, amidst another blitz attack that surprises the older blonde from the get-go. Hannah is forced on the defense for the first time this fight as she contends with the newcomer’s renewed passion, some fire and spit from this young model who must remind her of herself in some way. Another blitz of punches to the face landing snaps her out of her reverie, however, as Hannah doubles down and focuses, blocking the haphazard jabs and then stunning the German supermodel back with a couple of straight furies to the face, sending Kim doubling back herself and rubbing her chin. Round ends and Hannah’s the one left winded, however, breaths heavy as she refuses to charge in after the young spitfire, giving Kim another close round.
ROUND 4: Perhaps the similarities to Decker are a little too close for comfort, with Hannah being afraid of what the other blonde will do if she gets too close. Ferguson spends the first minute keeping her distance and jabbing at head and chest, one arm always hovering near her face to block more incoming attacks. That’s fine by Riekenberg, of course, who uses her speed and youthful energy to run around the veteran Vixen, tagging her repeatedly on her body with fast counters and the occasional hook to the arm. If this pace keeps up, of course, Hannah’s slump might very well continue unabated, and she receives a stern telling off in the corner by Head Trainer Steve Boyd, who must be wracking his brain at the performance of his top athlete this past few months.
ROUND 5: Finally! Ferguson roars into action, drawing a sharp gasp from Kim’s lips as the German suddenly throws up her arms to block a leaping superwoman punch, then another mad flurry is thrown at her head in wicked combos that graze her cheek and forehead. Hannah realises that the newbie hasn’t been tested in the gauntlet, and the only way forward is to smother her lights out, metaphorically of course. The strategy works, with Kim groaning and squealing intermittently as she’s bullied around the ring, busy covering her head whilst taking tummy shots, her head and torso getting thrown about by the experienced fighter’s practised hooks. The occasional counter-shot by Riekenberg is met with even more fury from Hannah, who uses her instincts to weave and avoid her counterpart’s punches before landing tight hooks to the other’s blonde’s face. A wide round and round of applause from Ferguson fans in the audience, who are glad to see their girl back at full capacity.
ROUND 6: Kim wilting fast as a result of the constant pressure, sallying forth at the bell initially but quickly regretting her decision: Ferguson barreling into her just like before, and the initial exchange of punches to the face has Kim’s head getting snapped back when she takes a tight uppercut to the jawline. Still, it’s remarkable that the German girl manages to hold onto her wits for the next three minutes or so, her back driven to the ropes as Hannah shows no mercy, drilling shots to her sides and belly before alternating with deft hooks to the side and around her guard, definitely envisioning the young model’s face as that of her hated nemesis. Third such strike has Kim almost ragdolling on the spot, the referee already hovering nearby to stop this massacre at any moment, but he doesn’t have to - Kim flailing on her own shaky feet before collapsing onto her side by the ropes, utterly shell shocked as her chin hits the mat! No need for a countout as the young blonde’s OUT cold!!
Official Decision: Hannah Ferguson defeats Kim Riekenberg via KO6!
AFTER: A grueling contest for the head Vixen indeed, who perhaps is indeed showing some ring rust after getting bogged down with kicking Tahnee Atkinson’s ass this entire year, or so she would claim. Hannah snapping out of her bloodlust almost immediately, the tiredness and exhaustion hitting her like a freight train as she stumbles back to her corner to rest, ignoring an opportunity to make a statement in the younger version of Brooklyn Decker.
Not like Kim Riekenberg would protest at this point, getting gingerly turned over by medics and members of her training team - at least the young woman is still breathing, her eyes closed and lips parted in deep swaths of breaths.
Hannah ignores her throughout the post-fight sequence, apparently with her eyes only on the real prize: “Listen, Decker. You can’t duck me forever. Once I’m done with Tahnee, I’m gunning for your title. So in the meantime, you’d better not lose it to anyone else.” |
