TROIAN BELLISARIO VS ANYA CHALOTRA

Troian: 34 YO, 5’7 (1.70 m), 33-26-0, 29 KO since 2010, Pretty Little Punchers

Anya: 24 YO, 5’6 (1.68 m) 4-1-0, 4 KO since 2020, Emilia’s Empresses

Before: PLP Veteran Troian Bellisario takes on exotic (British-Indian) newcomer Anya Chalotra (best known for the Netflix series THE WITCHER).

“I haven’t been doing very well against newcomers this year,” Troian ruefully admits in reference to back-to-back losses to Tasya Teles and Naomi Scott. “That’s made me more determined to turn that around. I acknowledge Anya is a tough rookie, she’s only lost to Elizabeth Olsen in her first 5 fights. I am not going to join Emily Blunt, Scarlett Johansson, Mia Kang and Lily Collins in the ‘We Lost to Anya Chalotra Club.’.”

Anya smiles: “I send you a tee shirt with ‘I Lost to Anya Chalotra’ on it. I am sure it will be a popular collector’s item.”

“I wouldn’t be so cocky, Ms. Chalotra,” warns Troian, “I may be getting an “I KO’D ANYA CHALOTRA’ tee instead.”

“Now who is the cocky one,” replies Anya. “If Tasya and Naomi could find ways to beat you, so will I.”

“You are welcome to try, but be prepared for disappointment. I am not about to lose to third newcomer this year,” Troian declared.

“Ah, but you are about to lose to a third time,” Anya declared with equal assurance. “—to me!”

Sharp words and there is still a look of determination to make them come true when Troi and Anya get together in the ring for their bout. Anya is in a silver one piece swimsuit with black gloves and boots (silver laces). Troian is wearing a black one piece, deep V neck line with a halter top. She has red boots and gloves with black laces. Both fighters have their hair in battle braids.

The ring instructions are crisp and to the point. Anya and Troian nod seriously. Then tap gloves politely and go to their corners. Without much further ado the bell rings to commence the fight.

R1: Troian moves swiftly and greets Anya with a straight right to the mouth and then a swiping left to the side of the chin. Anya put back on her heels, tries to fight back with the jab as Troian presses forward. Troi going to the midsection with solid hooks that tip Anya forward. Now Trian can strike with uppercuts into Anya overhanging face and upper body. Anya smacked hard backs out of there to regroup. Troian pursues, keeping up the pressure with a steady output of head and body shots (though Anya is blocking most of the head shots with her mitts). Troian looking smooth and confident while Anya can counter with only a few easily ignored jabs. Round ends with Troian Bellisario winning the stanza easily.

R2: Anya out nuch more quickly this round and she is able to engage Troian in a flurry of head and face shots. Both fighters get their heads swiveled and their faces busted up from these punches. They fall back a bit, but quickly plunge back in the fray with a joint barrage of hooks to the body. Bodies are whacked hard in this exchange, but Anya and Troi hang in, fighting to push the other back. Stays stalemated until late in the round when Anya able to shake Troi with surprise uppercuts to the chin. Troian now in retreat, but she is recovering it well with her counters. Anya hangs in close looking for, but not finding openings. Still, Anya is awarded the round by a narrow margin.

R3: Out they come again and it looks like Anya is going for Troian to the body with her opening punches. However Troian takes the blows and catches Anya with a crunching right to the jaw. Anya staggering to one side. Troian moves with her reeling opponent and now she goes to the body with smashing hooks. Anya doubled up and then a cracking right to the side of the head sends her sideways into the ropes. Troian pummels Anya’s right side and presses her left against the strands. Anya then wraps her arms around Troian to break up Troi’s momentum. Referee separates the pair. Troian resumes her attack, but Anya slides along the ropes and manages to use jab to hold Troi off to the bell. However, Troian wins the round wide.

R4: Troian moved quickly once again to resume her offensive against Anya, but Anya struck first with spearing right to the gut that instantly doubled Troi up with a gurgling groan. Then Anya bashed away with rights and lefts to the sides of Troian’s head. Troian was stumbling to one side, trying to escape the sudden maelstrom of leather, but Anya was neatly moving with her to stay in front of the taller veteran. Then as Troian started back up again, Anya flashed into her chin with a lightning strike right uppercut. Troian flew wildly back into the ropes, then her long legs suddenly became entangled AND DOWN WITH TROIAN! Troian landed on all fours, dripping sweat and blood (she had a cut on her chin). Anya went quickly to the neutral corner. The referee moved in and started to count. Troian was trying to stand, but lurched back dizzily against the ropes. She was shaking her head and trying desperately to steady herself. Just as the count reached “NINE!” Troian was able to stand fully erect and shortly the action resumed. Troian covers up as Anya comes back at her and manages to make it to the bell, but she looked stunned that the rookie was able to take her down. Big smile on Anya’s face as she realizes she got the best of another veteran this round which she wins wide.

R5: Troian trying to shake off the knockdown comes out hard against Anya as the 5th Round gets started. Anya takes the challenge and they circle around each other at mid ring slapping each other to the jaw and side of the head with steady punching. Then Troian tries to move in on Anya with close in body punching. She looks to be trying to push Anya in the ropes, but Anya able to set her feet and fight it out toe to toe. Anya not budging, but her hooks are slowly driving Troian back. Troian started to gasp and pant as the air is knocked out of her by Anya’s leather storm. She gives ground slowly, but surely and it is enough that Anya wins the round by a close margin after the round ends.

R6: Troian and Anya come out once more at the bell. Troian moving warily as Anya moves confidently towards her. Anya commits to getting to close for another body battle, but as she comes in, Troian coolly steps to one side and launches a thunderous right into the side of Anya’s head. Anya knocked sideways against the ropes. She looks back with her eyes suddenly glassy and she doesn’t grasp that Troian is closing in. Furious barrage of jaw and chin belting punches from Troian whip Anya’s head from side to side and then bob up and down. Anya not able to get her gloves up and then one last uppercut lifts her up on her toes, then she drops in a heap at the ropes. Anya in a sitting position, her eyes blank and her chin resting on her collarbone. Referee counts. Anya does start to stir and she tries to use the ropes to push herself up, but NO! Anya’s legs won’t support her, she falls back into a sitting position and has to listen numbly as the referee concludes:

“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!...YOU’RE OUT!”

THE WINNER TROIAN BELLISARIO DEFEATS ANYA CHALOTRA KO6!

After:

“I TOLD you I wasn’t going to lose to a THIRD newcomer in a row,” a cheerfully Troian tells the press after the fight. “Though, I have to admit she gave me a scare with that 4th Round knockdown. She’s got a real KO punch. I was able to come back from it and get the win. It sure wasn’t easy. Now I can look forward to winning my next fight and finishing the year over .500.”

As for Anya, she says: “Of course I am unhappy at losing. I know I was winning. I got down in the 4th and I thought sure I had weakened her in the 5th. Turns out she wasn’t as weakened as I thought and she still some tricks in her trunks. She nailed me and I didn’t remember anything until they got me to the dressing room. Well, I don’t like to dwell on my losses, so I will concentrate on making sure I win the next time!”

Anya Chalotra got stopped by veteran Troian Bellisario, but she made a good effort that should impress FCBA observers. Troian was able to snap a losing streak and showed her toughness in getting off the canvas in the 4th to knock Anya out in the 6th. Good fight that left fans looking forward to where these two fighters go from here.
