NATALIE HALL VS MERRITT PATTERSON

Hallmark Showdown III

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Natalie: 30, 5’4 1/2 (1.64 m), FCBA Debut, Free Agent

Merritt: 30, 5’5 (1.65 m), FCBA Debut, Free Agent

Before: Our second Hallmark Showdown bout of the night brings us to blonde Natalie Hall and brunette (most of the time) Merritt Patterson. Both are very eager to show what they’ve got and are young enough to hope some existing FCBA manager will sign at least one of them up.

“I don’t mean to brag, but I think I am what any good stable manager would want,” insists Natalie Hall. “I’ve done plenty of sparring and backstage boxing and I’ve got the skills. I am not some kid barely out of high school who is lucky if she can climb into a ring without tripping. I am here to show I’m just what some talent-hungry stable needs!”

Merritt Patterson looks on and shakes her head: “Apparently I should just turn around and go home. I am not going to win and Natalie has stables lined up to sign her. Where is that line, Nat? I not seeing it.”

“Be nice, Patterson, this Hallmark, not The CW or Fox,” Natalie says snippily.

Merritt shrugs: “She is right to say this an opportunity for us to show what we’ve got to prospective managers. I happen to think I’ve got what they are looking for: skills, maturity and good ring judgment. I have just needed the chance to show them off. So here I am. Everyone pay close attention. This is where Merritt Patterson’s FCBA career begins!”

“And ends—“ Natalie says sneeringly.

“Let’s just get to the fight. I having an overwhelming urge to punch blonde face tonight,” gowls Merritt.

The two exchange sneers and then head for the blue ring. They doff their robes, Tonight Natalie is in black halter top piece with plunging neckline. Red gloves and boots (with black laces). Natalie’s hair pulled back in perky ponytail. Merritt in powder blue one piece with black gloves and boots with powder blue laces. Bobbed hair loose, but wetted down.

Despite the earlier conflict, Referee Deidre Hall’s ring instructions actually go smoothly and the fighters go off to their corners. They eye each other across the blue Hallmark canvas and then the bell rings….

R1: Merritt and Natalie move smoothly to the center ring and circle each other, then Natalie struck first. Merritt was slammed hard to the midsection and was tipped forward, but she slammed back with hooks of her own into Natalie’s abs. The two began to pound away at each other’s stomach, ribs and then up into their breasts. Tough, grinding action and Natalie began to get the better of Merritt. Merritt in slow, but stubborn retreat, making Natalie pay forher aggression. The bell sounded and two glared at each fiercely before turning away. The judges gave the round to Natalie Hall by a close margin.

R2: Merritt Patterson going long range as the new round begins. She whacks Natalie solidly to the jaw by jumping in, then pulling back. Natalie slow to counter these brain rattling blows, but keeps trying to get in closer to Merritt. Merritt smacking the blonde to the face, busting her up and keeping her at a distance. Natalie starting to look groggy and now Merritt moves forward to attack with hooks to blonde stomach. Natalie trying to counter, but Merritt not stopping as she drives the blonde back. Natalie all hunched up and protecting her head as the round draws to a close. Merritt looking very dominate as she wins the round wide. Natalie all puffy faced and sweaty, but step is still firm as she goes to her corner.

R3: Natalie moves much more quickly this round and lets Merritt have it full in the face. Clearly payback time as now Merritt Patterson gets her face busted up by Natalie Hall’s vengeful gloves. However, Merritt then rallies when she stuns Natalie with clipping uppercut to the chin that sends the blonde stumbling back. Merritt tries to land another head shot right, but Natalie catches her with a stuffing right to the stomach. Merritt doubled up at the waist and now Natalie is banging the brunette’s head from side to side. Merritt lashes back with sharp jabs to the Natalie’s chest. Natalie momentarily stunned and Merritt pulls back to regroup. However Natalie quickly back at her and they battle with head shots along the ropes. Natalie goes to the abs with another hook to again double Merritt up as the bell ends to end an intense round. Judges give the round by a narrow margin to Natalie. Both fighters now puffy face and bruised, but neither looks discouraged.

R4: Merritt flashes out of her corner and makes a blitz attack on Natalie before the blonde can fully clear her own corner. Merritt driving rights and lefts into Natalie’s jaw and chin. Natalie flounders back into turnbuckle, but then wraps her arms around Merritt to trigger referee intervention. Merritt quickly resumes the attack and foes her best to keep Natalie trapped. Natalie has to use repeated clinches to disrupt Merritt’s attack enough to make a successful break to mid ring. Merritt wastes no time in giving chase. Natalie covering up, just letting Merritt hammer away at her to the shoulders, flanks and off the top of her head. Merritt very dominate, but she’s not getting in the finishing punches she wants. Round ends in a shutout for Merritt Patterson, but Natalie Hall looks far from beaten.

R5: Sure enough, Natalie Hall shows renewed vigor as she is quick out of her corner to avoid another blitz. Merritt Patterson quickly finds herself battling Natalie in close. Natalie seems t like this toe to toe body punching and she is scoring points as Merritt seems to find it awkward to fight this way. However Merritt hangs in and does get her point blank punching game going late. Natalie and Merritt hammer each other hard to the torso right down to the bell. Natalie Hall scores a comeback round victory, but Merritt Patterson able to make it close.

R6: Natalie looking confident during the break. She appears to think she’s showed Merritt Patterson she can’t be shoved around like some rookie jobber. She leaps up from her stool, pounds her gloves together and then looks up to see “Night Train Merritt” bearing down on her! It’s another blitz attack and this time Merritt rips into Natalie’s chin with right and left uppercuts. Natalie HURLED back against the turnbuckle. She sprawls there, arms spread wide open as she instinctively grabs the ropes to hold herself up. Natalie is wide open and Merritt pours on the leather. Storm of punching smashes Natalie’s head from side to side, then up and down as Merritt works blonde chin. Natalie’s legs buckle and she sags downward. Merritt adds final left/right to the jaw and then steps back as Natalie ends up in a seated position looking like a discarded doll. Merritt marches to the neutral corner. Referee Deidre Hall moves in to count. Natalie tries to push herself up using the ropes, but her legs won’t cooperate. She is still sitting there, a devastated look on her face as Deidre Hallcalls out:

“EIGHT!...NINE!...TEN!...YOU’RE OUT!”

“THE WINNER OF THE SECOND HALLMARK SHOWDOWN III MATCH: MERRITT WHO HAS DEFEATED NATALIE HALL WITH ROUND 6 KNOCKOUT!” booms the loudspeaker.

After:

“I knew I could do it,” Merritt Patterson tells the press. “Natalie was too sure of herself and thought she had me after the 5th. Clearly she misjudged the situation and I surprised her a second time with a blitz attack. I made sure I’d take her out with this one and I did.”

Natalie Hall understandably not talking to press, but sends word via a spokesperson: “I apologize to my fans for letting them down. I made mistakes and Merritt took advantage. That does not mean I think she is in any way better than me. I hope to have the opportunity to show it in future Showdowns.”

Not sure Natalie Hall will get another crack at Merritt Patterson any time soon, but tonight’s bout was clearly an exciting crowd pleaser. Fans already wondering who they will get to see in action on the blue and gold canvas next.
