Vs.
Brec Bassinger
(21, 5'2 105 lbs, 4:3 FCBA, Pretty Little Punchers)

Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse

BEFORE:
For the first time in a long while, Ms Lavigne doesn’t look her bubbly self, looking almost subdued in her seat at the press conference. When asked what it is that’s bugging her, she keeps her comments brief for once:

"These last few months have really sucked for me, but I'm not here to talk about that today. I’m here to kick ass like I usually do. I don't know much about Brec except that she's a rookie and hasn't won a single fight this year. She looks like just another random cream puff my management has booked to get me back on the horse. Pretty sure I can handle her!” Avril ends with a smile and a cocky wink.

This is surprising for Avril, given her usual tirades. Perhaps she doesn’t feel the need to devote much energy to the newcomer, with Bassinger having zero wins this year (correctly pointed out). What chance does she have against someone with Avril’s record and experience?

Bassinger who’ll be fighting her 8th FCBA fight tonight struggles to answer that question herself, looking a bit nervous when its her turn at the mic, the reporters swarming her with questions about how she feels in her current position.

“I know the odds are stacked against me tonight. But you know what? I’m in the best shape of my life, and I just got signed by a major stable. This is probably my biggest fight to date…It would be a huge boost to my career if i win this, so I'm bringing 200% tonight. Avril doesn’t look like she’s taking me seriously as an opponent. Which is fine by me.” Brec stares at the Canadian from across the table with a smirk.
“Rookies like Madison Beer and and Katherine McNamara gave her a lot of trouble and of course...I've watched the butt whooping Isabella Merced gave her like, 16 times by now! it was amazing - I feel like I know what I need to do to achieve a similar result tonight. You all should be looking forward to seeing another "upset" in about an hour!"

Tough words for the young rookie, and just to prove her point, Avril is seen filing at her nails at the other end of the table, occasionally turning at the sound of her name being mentioned, but generally showing indifference at the foregone outcome of this fight complete with rolling her eyes at Brec’s mention of an upset tonight.

Hours later, Avril chooses to enter first, still looking 10 years younger than her actual age as she walks out onto stage in her black and pink sports bra and tights combo with matching gloves, long blonde hair left loose and wild over both shoulders, at least for now. She takes her time getting to the ring, allowing the arena to luxuriate in her recent music choices and high fiving fans along the way. But wait….the camera zooms in on non other than Madison Beer sitting front row! What is SHE doing here?! Booing, that’s what! The Lookout starlet is sitting with her legs crossed accompanied by two other girlfriends on either side, as they all boo Lavigne all the way to the ring, with the Doll seemingly unaware of Beer’s presence… but that only lasts until she steps into the ring. As Avril poses for the fans in the center of the ring, Madison and her wingwomen stand up from their front row seats, shouting “You suck Avril!!!” right at the Canadian, who suddenly notices Beer, indicated by her stunned face. Lavigne immediately turns around, her furious eyes searching for her manager Carmen Electra. The Doll finds what she was looking for, immediately runs towards Electra and proceeds to throw what seems to be a tantrum over Madison being allowed to enter the arena, and getting a front row seats no less! The brunette is clearly here to mentally disrupt Avril tonight and the Doll has to be calmed down by several Dollhouse staff members while Bassinger music begins playing.

The Pretty Little Puncher is out next, emerging from the curtains in a cute-little brassiere that’s navy-coloured, dark grey short tights and matching dark blue gloves, hair in a tight ponytail. She's showing off her toned figure as she calmly makes her way to the ring with plenty of cheers from those in the crowd who love rooting for the underdogs. Madison back in her seat along with her friends, now sitting pretty with both her arms and legs crossed and an amused smirk on her face. Does she have anything planned here? Or is she just here to support Bassinger (and hate on Lavigne)? I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

The two blondes finally come together in the center of the ring and surprisingly, there’s a rough touch of gloves at the end of the referee’s spell, with Avril showing her opponent more disdain by actually wishing her the very best of luck to try and do her worst. Well, we’re about to find out who prevails! There goes the bell and HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
Wow - Avril taking in slow for once, perhaps wary of her checkered road these past few months. If we were to wind back time for a moment, Avril would have been the one in contention for Lily Collins’ Flyweight crown. Yet, she faced several setbacks this year, losing to Hayden Panettiere and most recently, Isabella Merced, thereby throwing her out of title contention, for now. She stays at a distance this opening round, throwing jabs at Brec’s arms and head, occasionally surprising the younger girl with power, precision and speed as she relies on her instincts to land shots. Brec, having anticipated a mad dash towards her once the fight started, struggles to keep up with this long-distance relationship, therefore taking plenty of hits to her face as she stumbles into the working range in order to fight back. Overall, it’s a slow round, but Bassinger manages to score several hits on the Doll’s paunch before the round ends.

ROUND 2:
Brec motoring now, especially if Avril’s not gonna play speed demon. Fine by the younger woman, who literally shrieks as she nails Avril early with a left-right combo to the arms, a last left hand streaking past the guard and hitting Avril just above the eye. Ouch for the Doll, but don’t count her out yet: Lavigne still full of energy as she swings back on reflex, and the first thirty seconds is a mad dash of gloves stuck into each other’s face and body as the two women take to the streets and throw down. Lavigne however is still deliberately moving backwards - she’s conscious of her stamina in this fight and focused on a must-win scenario by the end of ten rounds. Brec however capitalises on her inaction, pushing into Avril by constantly sticking her fists past her arms, into her nose and chest. Bell rings and we’re not sure if this here’s the best strategy for Lavigne going forward, especially if she keeps getting out-worked.

ROUND 3:
Still, Lavigne plays the long game, goes scooting left and right out of her corner at the bell, leaving Brec to close the distance and resume the first punch-exchange. Bassinger scores some early thumps to the body, almost catching Avril with her back to the ropes, only for Lavigne to duck under a wild swing and go running backwards some more. We call this a purposeful retreat, folks, as the Canadian singer’s not idle even as she does this, tagging Brec back on her face as the overeager actress comes sailing in after her. Brec’s corner shouting at their girl to hold her horses and keep back, and the young girl obliges only in the final minute, panting hard and trading more jabs with her older counterpart from afar. It’s a close round at the bell overall but we’d still give it to Brec for her aggression, warranted or not.

ROUND 4:
AND THERE BASSINGER GOES, thrown off her feet in a spin of arms and legs!! Good lord! Was Avril playing possum this entire time?? First minute saw the usual back-and-forth footwork as both fighters took it rather slow, only for Brec to initiate a surprise CHARGE towards her opponent, knocking Avril’s head sideways with an errant hook and then going for the follow-up killer blow. But right after, the young blonde gets gobsmacked instead across her face, Avril having returned the kiss with in a flash of her own, ready and waiting right hand sent across the young starlet’s face with a grunt! Brec wasn’t prepared for that number, her entire body spinning 180 degrees before landing on the canvas with a THUD!! It’s a KNOCKDOWN for Avril Lavigne!

Sweet redemption might be on the cards for the Doll, who finally lets out a roar to the audience, a wide smile on her face as she chugs both hands into the air. Avril steps over Brec’s groaning body to the neutral corner as the referee’s hovers over the poor, fallen princess. Bassinger’s slow recovery by the ropes still considered a recovery nonetheless, and the PLP starlet manages to get back to her feet by the count of 8.

Good thing there’s only a minute left on the clock, folks, as Avril charges in to try and finish her foe off. Brec has her roles reversed in this scenario, covering up and dipping her body low, running backwards to try and blunt Avril’s attack. Bell rings after a few advances and attempts by Avril to break her guard, but the Doll has to be satisfied with first blood as she strides back to her corner.

ROUND 5:
More Brec-bashing as the older singer kicks things into overdrive. Avril still knows she needs to conserve energy but after the thrill of knocking her opponent down last round, it’s only natural to think the fight might end asap. Brec shows every bit of resistance, however, as she covers up with both arms, her tummy taking hits left and right instead as Lavigne switches targets and hammers in ehr jabs and straight hands to make up for her lack of purchase. Bassinger still holds on to her marbles though, even squeezes a left hand right into Avril’s lips as a reminder she’s still alive in the second minute, with Lavigne letting out a squeal of outrage more than pain as she’s stopped in her tracks, clutching at her mouth. Uh oh - that only seems to have awoken the dragon as Avril then proceeds to go ape-sh*t on Brec on the ropes, lefts and rights just hammering into the poor girl’s arms whenever she catches up to her. That’s no way to box, folks, but tell that to the enraged Doll straight to her face, if you dare. The bell rings and Brec looks an absolute mess, but she’s still standing, and that’s what really matters.

ROUND 6:
Another straight hand’s too fast for Avril to catch, with Brec surprising everyone with some early aggression this round as she slams a right cross straight through to the lips when the two girls meet in the center. Lavigne’s the one left most in shock, already mid-charge and ready to put this upstart blonde down before supper. But her advance is stopped in the mud, then her frame battered leftwards, then right, as Brec seizes the moment and delivers another left-right hook-combo across the bewildered singer’s face, which throws Avril off to the side in tatters. Bassinger’s moving too fast for the Doll to catch up or avoid her attacks, her hit-and-run tactics like a bumper car slamming into her side before scooting out of the way before Avril can bump back. Avril’s only option is to fall back on her own defenses, jabs landed more accurately on Brec’s frame when both girls are fighting from a distance, Avril with one hand covering her face, the other shooting forwards constantly to deter Bassinger from coming in all the way.

ROUND 7:
Bassinger’s resolve needs to be commended as she continues to wade in from the opening bell, hammer and bash Avril to her arms, body, and side of the head with ringin’ shots, then leap out of the way to avoid the enraged but tired Doll’s counterattack. This is what the Dollhouse corner feared most, I’m afraid, as their resident Queen is quickly seen to be running out of gas in order to keep up pace with her younger counterpart. Avril’s swings just a little too lumberous, all over the place as compared to Brec’s, allowing her foe to weave backwards or to her side to avoid her punches for the most part. Last minute and the tide seems to have turned, with Bassinger pouring in lefts and rights into the arms to drive Avril to the ropes, alternate shots to her stomach drawing groans, then straight shots to her chin landing unabated for good stretches of seconds as Avril whimpers and winces, tries her best to hold on in the final seconds of this round. No good – Brec is all over her and the exhausted Canadian just doesn’t have any answers as she’s punched silly by the younger blonde who is merely toying with a punch-drunk Lavigne now as another quick right cross SLAMS hard into the older blonde’s cheek, knocking the Doll’s head sideways as her arms fall limp right before Bassinger FINISHES HER OFF with a HUGE uppercut blasting Lavigne’s chin up as the poor singer’s head shoots backwards and over the top rope - the rest of her body flounders for a second, strings cut as her frame hits the edge of the ring, then rebounds forward – Avril out on her feet, CRASHES face-first to the canvas in a heap, limbs spread and lifeless, lying there with eyes closed KNOCKED OUT COLD!! WOW! Referee concurs the diagnoses after taking a quick look at the finished motionless Canadian and WAVES this fight off in SHOCKING UPSET fashion!!

Official Decision: Brec Bassinger defeats Avril Lavigne via KO7!

AFTER:
Holy - Brec defies the odds and pulls ahead with a HUGE win over an established veteran of the ring and her first win of 2020! The young actress and newest member of Pretty Little Punches party looks hella pumped as she lets out a shriek of victory as the bell rapidly rings to signal the end of this fight. It’s her very first win of the year and arguably, the BIGGEST win of Bassinger’s short boxing career with this being only her 8th fight overall, so you’d excuse her for being a little excited!

A sharp contrast to Carmen Electra, who has her face buried in her hands after yet another disastrous defeat for her struggling star. Avril, meanwhile, looks completely out of her wits as medics rush to her side, sat up slowly at the ropes, at one point still pawing her leather glove at the medic’s face, as though she’s still in the middle of battling her opponent. She doesn’t register Brec’s presence when the younger girl decides to stride over to rub in her win:

"My first win of 2020, thanks Av! What is that now? your 4th straight knockout loss? and to a cream puff like me?! Ouchie. Better luck next time tough girl!"

Brec giggles knowingly, before turning around and posing for the fans in the middle of the ring. She takes her time, grin on her face and arms constantly waving at the cheering fans - these celebrations don’t come often enough indeed, but maybe that’s all about the change for her after this impressive win tonight. Minutes later, Brec stops to speak to reporters, who’ve begun to swarm her inside the ring. “She’s explosive…everyone knows that, but I knew I’m faster and can wear her down if I can stay in it. She was pretty much completely out of gas by the 7th and I took care of business. I was instructed to focus her weak body but she got so sluggish I just wanted to knock her silly and wipe the arrogance off her face. Which I did. She’s not looking too hot anymore, ain’t she?” Brec chuckles as she turns her eyes towards Avril, who is being helped to her stool by the Dollhouse medical team and seems to be holding back tears as she once again finds herself on the wrong end of a fight against a relative young rookie.

Bassinger now making her way out of the ring to the cheers of those who do not side with the Doll, and one of those is no other than Madison Beer who’s busy giving Brec a standing ovation as the camera zooms in on her. And we’re apparently going to actually hear from Madison right now, the gorgeous Lookout brunette signaling to the media that she wants to chat - and who are they to refuse?!
“I just wanted to say congratz to Brec for her win, I really enjoyed watching her beat the sh*t out of jobber Lavigne.” Beer laughs. “Yeah…Avril is clearly back to being the jobber she was back in 2010. Just let the dumbass chase you for 6 rounds and she’ll become your personal out of breath punching bag! That’s the 4th fight in a row where these poor medics had to scrape her fat ass off the mat. I mean, come on! YOU’RE WASHED UP AV! I want my f*cking rematch!” Madison’s demeanor suddenly turns from complete amusement to straight up anger.

“I almost beat your ass on my freaking DEBUT when you were at your like...peak, or whatever! Imagine what I’ll do to your jobber ass these days! So I’ll make this very simple and clear – I officially challenge you to another fight Av, and I’m doing it in front of all these cameras and people…so you better not dodge me this time or you’ll forever be known as the FCBA’s biggest P*SSY!”

Beer and her friends laughing together at the end of her statement as the cameras back away from the brunette and cuts to Lavigne herself who is too busy regaining her senses on her stool to have any idea about what was happening outside or about the challenge that was issued here tonight. She’ll certainly learn all about it in the coming hours and will have to carefully consider her actions, but for now, Avril probably has only Chloe Moretz on her mind as she will have to face the hungry Lioness star who is 5-1 for the year in only two weeks with the threat of 5 straight losses looming over her head. Not an easy position to be in for sure!

It’s a challenging time for the struggling 36 year old Doll who is being helped by Dollhouse staff on her way backstage, with the men instructed to keep her as far away from Madison Beer’s seat as possible, the night has been disastrous enough for her already! We literally can’t wait to see how the future develops for both the winner and the loser tonight!
