(Black Eagle Boxing vs Girls Friday)

Intro:
The BBU welterweight title is now on the line; the unbeaten Toni Garrn will be hoping to be the first champion for the Black Eagle Boxing stable as she takes on the unbeaten champion Joan Smalls here in Cardiff's BBU arena.

Toni is 26 years old, she stands 6'0 and holds an unbeaten record of 6 wins, all by knockout.

Joan is 30 years old; she stands 5'10 and holds an unbeaten record of 8 wins, also all by knockout, this her her 3rd defence of the BBU welterweight title since winning it in January.

Both women met at the press event for the PPV, both going face to face for the cameras, Joan has the title wrapped around her waist as she poses with her fists up as does Toni.

Then both shake the others hand and heads over to their tables to begin speaking to the press, Toni sitting with her manager Gina Wild, while Joan sits with Melanie Sykes.

Toni is asked about how she feels going into this fight, answering with a smile "I feel great; Joan is an awesome champion so I know this is going to be a tough test, but I have proven I am a great fighter too"

The next question is about why she thinks she can win, Toni says "well I have height and reach over Joan, I know she can pack a punch but if I can keep the fight where I wanted it to be, put her under pressure, well I'm sure I will be taking home the gold"

The final question is about any pressure on being the first champion for her new stable, she replies "well making history is why I and other fighters do this, it'll just be icing on the cake as you guys say" chuckling at that part.

Now it's Joan's turn to speak, she answers about her feelings on Toni "like she said; I have plenty of respect for her, these are the fights you want since we are undefeated, the winner will know they are truly the best in the division"

Asked about Toni's tactics and how she will cancelling them out, Joan replies "remember I beat Jourdan Dunn to win this belt, she is I believe slightly bigger then Toni, I'll be doing something similar in this fight"

The final question is about the rumoured Contender 6 tournament coming next year being a welterweight tournament, Joan smiles and says "whoever wins will have me to face, so maybe they should all call in sick" winking as she stands up, smiling and nodding over to Toni as both women leave the stage on opposite sides.

Fight night; Toni is the first fighter out with her coach Gina Wild beside her, she looks fully focused as she walks down the aisle, shaking her arms to keep limber as she stares at the ring.

She is wearing an emerald green sports bra, emerald trunks with black stripes up the sides, emerald shoes and black gloves, her blonde hair is in a fighting ponytail.

Climbing into the ring; Toni bows to each side of the ring before she heads to her corner, where her and Gina discuss tactics while she warms up for the biggest fight of her life.

Now out comes Joan with her coach Taryn Terrell and cut woman Eva Carneiro by her sides as she marches down the aisle with her eyes locked on the ring, Taryn holds the welterweight title up as they go.

She is wearing a yellow sports bra, matching trunks, gloves and shoes, while her brunette hair is braided for the battle ahead.

Getting into the ring; Joan blows a few kisses to the crowd and nods over to her opponent, before she gets to her own corner to go through her own warm up routine.

The fighters are brought to the ring by the referee, with both touching their gloves together as they listen to the ref go through their instructions, the title being held so both can see what is up for grabs.

When they are told to head to their corners, they nod to each other as plenty of respect here, with both ready to start 10 rounds of BBU welterweight title action.

Round 1:
Both fighters come out working behind their jabs, Joan moving her head more of the two down to the reach advantage of her opponent to dodge.
With the champ the first to push the tempo, slipping under a straight and landing a right to the body, just missing with an overhand left as Toni steps back.
Maybe Toni's nerves are showing as she isn't matching the intensity of Joan, allowing the older fighter to keep moving inside to work, before moving back out.
As Joan attempts to move in close this time; she is met with a stiff jab and a right cross, Toni coming to life now as she backs up the champ.
Joan manages to slip under a left cross, landing a right again under the ribs of the lanky German fighter, with her working the body.
Toni nudges her back with her left and lands a hard right across her face, Toni starting to throw more punches as she tries to get the round for herself.
But as the round ends; it's Joan who has to proud of herself this round, getting a nod from Taryn as she sits down on her stool.

Round 2:
After the slow start to the fight; Toni seems to be more confident as she throws more straight punches, forcing Smalls to stay on the outside of the ring after taking two stiff punches to her face.
Joan looking annoyed as she looks for openings, finding herself getting caught when she tries to get out of her shell.
It's a total role reversal this round; Toni controlling the action with her reach and her volume of punches, while Joan can mostly just block them and keep on the move.
Till she spots an opening; parrying a straight punch, Joan comes up with an overhand right before she steps in closer to force a fast pace.
The fighters slug it out at the center of the ring, both grunting with effort and sweat is already flying off them as they really go for it.
Toni ends up giving Joan a shove towards the ropes, before landing two rights across her face to force her back behind her gloves.
The round ends with Joan looking upset at the shove, telling the referee to do their job as she passes them to go to her corner.
Toni meanwhile takes a deep breath on her stool, nodding to Gina as the coach goes through their tactics, with Gina telling her before she goes out "you can do this babe"

Round 3:
Now it's Joan who has to step up a gear, bobbing and weaving to get out the way of Toni's punches, before moving inside to work.
The fighters are both landing some stiff shots when in close, Joan though looks much more comfortable as she dips under a right cross, landing a counter overhand left followed by an uppercut to begin driving her challenger back.
Toni forced to cover up as she retreats back, Joan taking the ring center to the annoyance of Gina in the Black Eagles corner.
Joan slips under a straight to land to the body of Garrn, driving her onto the ropes with her punches working the body of the challenger.
Till Toni clinches up with Joan, neither pushing or grappling, with the referee easily splitting them apart, Toni making sure to move into space.
With Toni finishing the round stronger as she dances backwards and slams her punches into the face of the aggressive Smalls.
The bell rings with Joan feeling great as she sits down and chats with Taryn after she gets washed down by Eva.
Across the ring the Black Eagles corner looks a more frustrated bunch, Gina telling her fighter to relax and do what they did in training.

Round 4:
Both women definitely warmed up as they throw more punches in bunches, fighting more at midrange now as they slam punches across the others face.
As Joan goes to move in close; Toni sidesteps her and lands a straight to the side of her face, with a left slamming into the side of her head.
Toni rifles several more punches straight into the face of the champion to back her onto a set of ropes, with Joan needing to clinch up with her.
Once they are apart; Toni continues to press Joan behind her guard, the champion struggling to go on the offence as she is kept near the ropes.
Each time Joan tries to come out her guard, Toni simply moves out the way of her punch and counters with one of her own straight onto the Puerto Rican fighters face.
With the bell ringing to end a dominant round for Toni, who is understandably smiling as she jogs back to her corner, with Gina even cracking a smile too.
While the Girls Friday corner is a lot more subdued, Joan bangs her gloves together as she thinks about the way she was bullied around the ring this round.

Round 5:
Joan looks to try to get back at Toni, pushing the early action as she comes inside to work the body of the bigger fighter to force her back several steps.
That momentum is stopped when Toni nudges her back with her left shoulder, with a right banging across the face of the champion to knock her back.
As the fighters trade more at midrange, WHEN JOAN STEPS FORWARDS SHE IS MET WITH A LEFT ACROSS HER CHIN AND A RIGHT SLAMS INTO HER CHEEK TO SEND HER TO HER SIDE!
The crowd looks shocked as Joan shakes her head, 1...2...3...4 pulling herself to the ropes, she has an angry look on her face, 5...6 she begins to pull herself up, 7...8 beating the count with a little wobble.
The fight continues with Toni stalking Joan around the ring, her jab starting to find it's target more as she snaps the head of Smalls.
The champ needs to clinch up with Toni, her face really starting to be marked up and puffy as Toni leans on her till the referee can break them.
Toni dominating this round like the last to the shock of people in the crowd as the bell rings to end it, with Toni continuing to smile, looking the polar opposite to how she came into the ring.
While confidence flows in Toni's corner, across the ring it is gut check time for Joan, this proving to be the champs toughest test of her career, with Taryn giving her a pep talk as water is tossed over her.

Round 6:
Toni continues to control the action; taking the center of the ring as she jams her jab into the face of Joan, opening up a cut on the lips of Smalls to give her more to worry about.
The champ having to move her head more to dodge the punches aimed at her, with Toni happy with the way things are going.
Joan decides she won't stay back, timing her attack as Toni goes to throw a left/right combo, Joan slips under it and comes up with an overhand right.
Then uses her left shoulder to bump back Toni, landing punches to the body of the challenger as she starts to drive the German back.
Toni starts to fire back; the fighters going toe to toe, Joan getting caught with straight punches to knock her back towards the ropes.
She clinches up with Toni, forcing the referee to get involved as they grapple onto the ropes, once apart Toni looks to push forwards when they are told to continue.
Late in the round; Toni misses with a straight and gets caught with an uppercut that rocks her head back, with Joan slamming her fists into the face of Toni to drive her into a corner.
The round ends with Joan and Toni looking each other over, blood running drop the chin of Joan, while Toni has a cut on her left cheek, both stare over at their coaches as if to ask for help.
They get cleaned up by their corner teams, Toni still looking confident as she talks to Gina, while Joan enjoys getting washed down and a drink, Taryn telling her to give her all to keep the title.

Round 7:
Toni looks to press on from the bell, Joan forced to dance around the outside of the ring, with both landing stiff jabs to keep the other honest.
Dipping under a right cross; Joan lands an overhand right across the cut cheek of Toni, making her cry out as she starts knocking her back.
Toni is finding herself under a barrage of punches, WHEN SHE TRIES TO CLINCH SHE IS CAUGHT WITH AN UPPERCUT THAT WOBBLES HER LEGS, WITH TWO HOOKS CATCHING TONI ACROSS HER CHEEKS WITH A FINAL RIGHT ACROSS THE CHIN SENDING TONI SPRAWLING TO HER FRONT!
Joan raises her right fist as she slowly heads to a neutral corner, 1...2...3....4 while Toni shakes her head while crawling to the ropes, 5...6 she tries grabbing the ropes, 7...8 but as she pulls herself up to a knee, she falls over with her eyes glazed and rests against the ropes, 9...10 and ends up being counted out!

Winner and still BBU welterweight champion Joan Smalls KO Round 7

After:
This could be classed as the best performance from Joan, she had to come from behind to keep hold of the title against a very tough challenger.

It shows how hard as Joan doesn't celebrate much, just raising her right fist up and smiling as she looks too sore to do much more.

Taryn needing to help her get back to her corner, with Eva looking proud of her friend as she helps patch her up, Taryn telling Joan "that's why I love you girl" grinning as she pats her fighter on the shoulder.

While Toni is checked on by the ringside doctor as she sits against the ropes, with Gina coming over to make sure she will be OK.

After a few moments; Toni is able to stand to a loud round of applause from the crowd, with Gina looking relieved as she with help from the doctor gets Toni back to her stool.

It takes a while to clean up both women, but once they are ready they come to the center of the ring for the final announcement of the result.

Before that though; Joan asks the referee to hold off giving her the title to the surprise of everyone, she shows why quickly enough as she heads over to Toni to give her a hug.

Both women embrace before they separate and talk about the fight, Joan heard admitting "that was the hardest I've had to work, you are truly a great fighter" Toni smiling and replying similar sentiments to Joan.

Then Joan goes to the opposite side of the referee, the title lifted up by Joan in her left hand as her right is lifted up, Toni nodding with a smile as she knows tonight simply wasn't her night.

The two have a joke about where the title will look better around the waist of in future, promising the other that they will face off again as this seems the start of a friendly rivalry.

Toni leaves the ring with Gina by her side, Toni telling Gina she won't let her down the next time she has a shot at the title, Gina smiling as she is happy to see this hasn't dented the confidence of Garrn.

In the ring Joan holds the title above her head as cameras take photos of this moment, she looks mighty proud if bruised champion right now.

But she has something on her mind as she waves for a microphone, thanking the crowd before making two points, she says "first I hope the girls who will enter the Contenders 6 tournament saw this fight, Toni is one of the best and I am still the champ, so I suggest declining the invite ladies because this is mine!"

She waits till the loud cheer to that dies down, then says "oh and I hear Vogue Williams is calling me out, I am not hiding from you bytch, so while that tournament goes on, I'll need something to keep me busy, beating you should be fun" before she hands the mic off and heading out the ring with her coaching team.

It'll be interesting to see how Vogue responses to being called out, especially after keeping her own undefeated record alive by beating rival Rozanne Purcell, so can she be the one to dethrone Joan?
