(Girls Friday vs Knockout Babes)
(Written by Girls Friday/Results by Lookout!)
Intro: For the second time these two former champions do battle, Kaya Scodelario and Daisy Ridley have been wanting to prove they are the best from Britain, tonight they get another chance to prove their claim.
Back in March 2018 they fought for the first time, coming into the ring full of determination, it was Kaya who come out on top of the fight in the eighth round with a stunning knockout victory.
This time around both women were interviewed by Alicia Atout in the backstage stage area, the FCBA badge on the wall behind her, first up was Kaya wearing a red coat over her white shirt and blue jeans with her coach Hilary Swank beside her.
Smiling as she looks at the camera, Kaya says "oh Daisy I enjoyed watching the first fight we had, smashing your face in was such a buzz and now I get to relive the pleasure" Hilary nodding along as she looks more serious of the two.
The Hollywood star jumping in to tell Kaya "as I have told you, don't take Daisy lightly OK? She isn't a tune up for you no matter how much you want to believe that" Kaya rolls her eyes at her coach, not in agreement clearly before they leave together.
Next up was Daisy as she wore a navy blue dress, she was all smiles as she gave Alicia a hug when they met, she nods to the camera with a smile, telling Alicia "I have worked so hard to get back into fights like tonight, I know if I win this one suddenly my name will be in that title race" Alicia smiling at her enthusiasm.
Asked though about her feelings towards Kaya, Daisy's smile decreases a little as she admits "well last time I fought her she smoked me in the ring, I wasn't good enough that night to get the job done" clenching her fists remembering what happened.
"But as I said I have worked harder, since then I've become a world champion in this sport like her, so I am confident that you'll see a different result by the end of tonight" the Star Wars actress says as she looks confident again, fist bumping Alicia as she is told good luck from the interviewer.
Fighting time; out comes Kaya first with Hilary following, Kaya is wearing a red sports bra, red and black chequered trunks, red shoes, black gloves, her hair is tied into a ponytail as she walks down the aisle looking relaxed, knowing in her mind what she needs to do to beat her opponent once again.
Getting into the ring through the ropes, Kaya gives the crowd a quick wave as she steps over to her corner, bashing her gloves together when she does as she bounces on her toes, Hilary telling Kaya to not be cocky tonight, this is about being professional and getting the win.
Now out comes Daisy, she has coach Jennifer O'Dell beside her as she smiles while jogging down the aisle, she is wearing a blue sports bra, matching trunks, gloves and shoes, her hair is tied into a ponytail as she high fives some of the front row nearest the ring steps.
Jogging up the steps before slipping through the ropes into her corner, Daisy shadow boxes to warm up as her demeanor becomes more serious, knowing how important a win is to her career, along with the extra spice of wanting to even the score between them.
Coming together at the ring center, neither blinks as their eyes lock together, Kaya bangs her gloves together to show how much she wants to get at Daisy, with Ridley bouncing on her toes.
The referee tells them to touch gloves, which leads to a slap of gloves between them, returning to their corners to a loud cheer, the fighters have their gloves up ready as the bell rings to start 10 rounds of bantamweight action.
Round 1: At the bell they circle up on the toes, firing out jabs as they try to find angles to work with, Kaya slightly moving her upper body more as Daisy is firing her long jab straight and true as one of the best in all of celebrity boxing.
The jab of Ridley showing why it is so good as she backs up Kaya with a beautiful double jab square into her face, just missing with the right hook as Kaya gets out of dodge retreating backwards.
The opening minute is solidly on the side of Daisy, Kaya though is quick to remind why she has been one of the best in the world the past two years, ducking under a straight to bang in two hooks to the body, the overhand left grazes the chin of Daisy to push her back now.
With Scodelario turning the heat up on her opponent, slipping a jab this time as she pounds in an overhand right to the side of Daisy's head, a left uppercut knocks the head back next as the second minute is looking on the side of Kaya with her movement giving Ridley some trouble.
Now with less then a minute to go, the fighters let their hands go more as they know this has been a good back and forth so far, Kaya taking it to Daisy with a straight to the body, then two left hooks to the body as she gets into her grill, driving the Star Wars actress to the outside of the ring.
At the bell the late work of Kaya seems to most to have swung it her way, Jennifer telling Daisy she can't let her work rate go down if she is to keep Kaya subdued, nodding in reply to her coach as she knows she is spot on.
Round 2: Doubling up her jab more as she tries to keep it a more rangy fight, Daisy giving Kaya several good digs to the face as the former FCBA champion isn't able to slip the punches as easily with more coming at her.
Daisy almost like a sniper as she changes targets to be more effective, even sneaking some into the chest of Kaya to give her something to think about, Kaya landing some decent punches but not to the level of Ridley so far this round.
Where in the first round Kaya came good in the second minute, Daisy is making it harder for her, keeping her punches flowing more even as they start fighting on the inside, opening her elbows up more with some good hooks to the body.
As they get to the final minute, finally Kaya finds her groove after drilling a jab into the abs of her opponent, she lands an overhand right to her jaw that opens up Daisy to some more punishing work on the inside.
Soon the bell rings to end the round with Kaya this time not happy with her own work, Jennifer happier with Daisy though wishing she hadn't given Kaya that opening at the end of the round to give her some trouble.
Round 3: Both are throwing more punches now they are fully warmed up to the task, Daisy looking the more comfortable early still as her jab continues to give Kaya's face a little makeover, marking her cheeks up as she moves side to side.
Getting off to a faster start this round looked key for Kaya, well she does so after timing her attacks better, feinting with her right as she steps to Daisy's right to hammer in a left hook around her guard, an uppercut follows to knock the guard apart of Ridley to the delight of the G.F corner.
Backed more towards the ropes, Daisy has never been the greatest inside fighter, it shows her too as Kaya sticks in close, bullying Daisy to the ropes with hooks to the body while she outworks Ridley.
Who has to give Scodelario a nudge to open up space so she can move away from the ropes, getting her straight punches going again as Kaya is a little too reckless trying to get Daisy trapped again.
Heading to the bell, both go more toe to toe as Daisy looks to want to make Kaya respect her, the crowd are certainly loving it as they cheer the fighters on as cheeks and shoulders take the brunt of the hits flying up till the bell rings to end the round.
Returning to their corners with a little redness to their cheeks, they look fired up as eyes lock across the ring, coaches wiping them down as they give advice on what already feels like it will be a close fight between these two former champions.
Round 4: At this level adaptation is key to make a difference, Daisy is feinting more as she used her footwork to try to give Kaya more looks to stop her getting inside as freely like the last round, smacking around or through the mitts of Kaya to score good points.
More so she is leaning out the way of the overhand shots that plagued her the opening two rounds, Daisy showing why she became the BBU champion, beautifully boxing around Scodelario to the joy of her fans.
Kaya does get in some good body shots when she is able to close down Daisy, who clinches up to force the referee to step in to break them up, once they are apart Daisy is back at range smacking Kaya in her face.
Forcing Kaya to tighten up her guard more, which gives Daisy some more freedom to work, Daisy fully focused tonight on the job, switching up her targets to make sure Kaya feels the punches right through her.
At the end of the round it is a brilliant round for Daisy, she jogs back to her corner with Jennifer waiting with a smile, knowing more rounds like that and they can take the win to the bank for the winners cheque.
Round 5: Knowing she can't let Daisy off the hook so easily, Kaya doesn't buy her feints as easily as before, landing in some hard body shots when Daisy tries to pull some tricks out her bag, driving back the Hollywood star.
Forcing back Ridley around the ropes, trying to stop the movement of the Knockout Babes fighter by ripping away to the body, sap her energy so she can't get on her bike as much, making Daisy need to nudge her away.
While Daisy is landing some hard head shots to give Kaya a little trouble, she can't seem to keep back Scodelario for too long, finding herself backed into a corner after a hard right straight into her stomach.
Daisy is covering up more as she looks a little overwhelmed by the amount of punches coming her way, Kaya has found another gear as she barks away, keeping Ridley under wraps that makes Hilary smile.
When the round ends Daisy looks a little worn but still shows a smile to Jennifer to show she is OK, across the ring Kaya is looking more relaxed now, her eyes firmly on Daisy as Hilary tells her to rip Ridley apart.
Round 6: Right away the fighters nearly bump bodies as Daisy looks for a big hook from the off that doesn't land flush, heads grind a little as they work the others body, Daisy wanting Kaya to understand she won't walk through her easily.
Pushing back Kaya with her left forearm so she can land an uppercut, Daisy begins to force back her opponent back around the outside of the ring, Kaya trying to fight her way back but ending up getting clipped to the top of her head with a right cross.
Pushed into a corner, Kaya finds herself struck behind her gloves as Daisy swings in body shots, throwing uppercuts to try to smash Kaya, getting clinched when one lands clean to force the referee to step in.
Now apart Daisy is looking to keep at Kaya, much more aggressive as Jennifer yells at her to keep at her opponent, but Daisy misses with a right cross, paying for it with a hard right to her body that looks to have hurt.
More come in the final seconds of the round, Daisy finding herself now on the ropes with her eyes shut, looking to be gasping as they bell rings to end a round she looked to have firmly won, now she is nearly dragging herself back to her corner to be given an ice pack on her body.
Round 7: Daisy is looking a little step slower, she is trying to land her jab but Kaya is dodging it easier now as she works her way to the inside, smacking another right to the body, FOLLOWED BY AN UPPERCUT THAT SENDS DAISY TO HER BACK!
Kaya steps over Daisy to go to the neutral corner as if to prove a point, 1...2...3.. Daisy has her gumshield hanging out her mouth, 4...5...6.. Eyes shut as she is groaning, 7...8...9...10 that's it, the fight is over!
Winner Kaya Scodelario KO Round 7
After: Another win for Kaya over Daisy as she turns to her fans to raise her arms in the air with a cocky smirk, though she certainly can't pretend this was an easy fight as she acted in the build up, her face baring the marks from Daisy's fists as proof of that.
The defeated Daisy needs help sitting up as she holds her stomach, sucking in air as it looks to hurt to breath, the body work of Kaya paying off big time as Jennifer puts an ice pack on the sore abs.
Kaya goes past them to her corner flexing her right arm, showing Daisy whose the better woman in the ring right now, Hilary patting her on her back as their partnership seems to be starting to bare some fruit now.
Back into her own corner Daisy is helped, sitting on the stool looking understandably down after losing a hard fought battle, Jennifer telling her to take the lessons learnt tonight to improve upon, Daisy trying to look hopeful as she nods but her expression looks more dark.
Daisy can only watch as Kaya gets her hand raised, the winner bowing to the crowd with a big smile as she gets the important victory tonight, Daisy nods as she wipes a few tears away, then steps out the ring with help from Jennifer as she still looks sore, gingerly walking to the back.
In the ring Kaya does a lap of honour, pumping her right fist as her fans applaud her, Hilary whistling with Eva for their fighter, laughing as Kaya cups her ear to them, the moody Kaya of a few months ago is no more it seems.
Heading out the ring to the back together, Kaya will hope to keep recapturing her form that got her into the title picture several years ago, not interested in watching others thrive as she only wants the belt around her waist, who can stop her making that happen right now?
