BEFORE:
Jenna Coleman still recovering from that vicious JMD battle with Cheryl Cole last month, looking bittersweet at the press conference as she comes out from behind the curtains and waves curtly to the reporters.

“That match with Cole was brutal, but I expected nothing less. At the end of the day, I’m the one getting the title shot tonight, huh. I think Diana picked the right woman to take the straps off her. I’ve had more wins than Korkunova has had fights in her entire career, so I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to become Flyweight champion by the end of tonight, for the upteenth time,” Jenna says with a wry smile.

Diana is trying her best not to look too nervous either, smiling weakly from across the table as she listens to Jenna’s comments, before replying:

“I picked Jenna as my opponent because, simply, she’s the best of the best. I’ve heard the naysayers loud and clear: I’m some kind of nobody who’s holding onto the straps that don’t belong to me. Well, they’re wrong. I’m holding onto this thing for as long as I can, and I’m gonna beat the best girls in this division to prove that I deserve to hold onto it.”

We have a three-inch height disadvantage for the challenger when both girls meet in the center of the ring, Diana and Jenna staring each other down with both their hands on their hips. Diana dressed in a black laced top, white boxing trunks and red gloves, whilst Jenna in a red sports bra, black boxing trunks and white gloves. HERE we go with ten rounds of Flyweight action!

ROUND 1:
True enough, Jenna’s looking a little sluggish as she comes out of her corner, the veteran fighter still feeling phantom pain of getting slugged hard in the chest from Cheryl Cole that she’s subconsciously protecting her body as she comes forward. Diana on the other hand with no such qualms, moving in like a speed demon as she plows punches into Coleman repeatedly, Diana showing off her confident striking ability as she pesters her around the ring, hitting lefts and rights into the arms before taking a huge swing that sails over the head. Jenna rallying, getting into the rhythm, lands a crisp left-right combo to the face as she stuns Diana in place, before shooting another two fists straight into her tummy. Diana perhaps bitten off more than she can chew, especially when her opponent has gotten her assault vector mapped out. Girls end the first round in a stalemate, breathing hard from across the ring, and something tells us we're in for one helluva ride! 

ROUND 2:
Diana's strategy seems to be shock and awe early as she pressures the older woman and wants to knock her out ASAP. Jenna spends the first minute fending off jabs to her head but can't quite keep up with the youngster's ferocity, takes another left-right-left to the body before her arms are battered on all sides. Diana needs to be careful in facing this former champ, however, case in point when Jenna swerves smooth around a hook aimed at her head, returns the favour with a SNAP of Korkunova's head to the side, which wobbles the Siren's self-esteem and almost sends Diana down to her knees right there and then! Diana not prepared for the counterassault, suddenly on the receiving end of methodical jab-jab-cross advance from Coleman, who begins to turn the tide in her favour. Looks like we aren't gonna see another decisive corner from this round! 

ROUND 3:
Heavy slugging in the opening minute as both ladies want this lead bad! Jenna scores first blood with a combo delivered straight to the nostrils, but it's reflected right back when Diana shrugs off the pain and RAMS her own fist into the lips. Jenna should know better than to try and go toe-to-toe with the bulkier champion, now suffering dearly for it as her light attacks are bounced back as a deluge of punches from the champ. Diana catching her with a hook combo slammed hard into the arms, which leaves Coleman open to another cross slammed into the face, which DROPS COLEMAN CLEAN ONTO HER BACK!! Ouch!! 

Coleman laid out on canvas as she blinks rapidly up at the stadium lights! Diana elated, an arm raised high in the air as she lets out a shout on her way back go corner. Promising opening KNOCKDOWN for the champion as she takes this indicator of good fortune! Coleman however gritting her teeth and rising back up, eyes set not just on Diana across the ring, but that belt in the referee’s corner she so desperately wants to hoist once more. Coleman gets up by the count of 7 and we’re moving forward!

ROUND 4:
Rush in early for Korkunova, as expected, but Coleman not playing ball, moving in tandem with the champion’s early aggression, not letting herself get caught like last time. Coleman smartly plays to her own strengths, defensive counter-punches land on Diana’s face as she shows everyone her championship calibre. None more surprised than Diana herself, as her face gets battered by leather, tagging her cheek in and out, in and out, in equally frustrating and painful manner, until the last minute where the champ realises her brazen attack isn’t panning out. Coleman ain’t going down so easily, but that reality sinks in too late, with Diana covering up from a renewed counterattack, fending off blows to the arms and body until the bell sings. Looks like the fans will be getting their money’s worth as this fight goes the distance!

ROUND 5:
Diana on the defensive all of a sudden, sapped of energy these past few rounds and giving Jenna the greenlight to charge in. BIG, strapping hooks to the youngster’s body ring out as the entire stadium is at the edge of their seats at the sight of Korkunova being beaten backwards, mewing into her arms as Coleman traps her on the ropes, banging her mitts into the Siren’s breadbasket, folding the champ over, till Diana has no choice but to SINK DOWN to her knees! Coleman with a bread and butter blitz as she takes the champion down to task!! KNOCKDOWN for the challenger as she goes strutting back to her corner, wide smile on her face! Diana still in shock, eyes wide and mouth open and close, as she hugs her body on her knees, before valiantly rising back to her feet by the count of 8. One knockdown after another in this fight, with the action only expected to pick up!

ROUND 6:
It’s Jenna Coleman’s time to push for a comeback victory! If the first half of this fight was characterised by Diana’s dominance, Coleman set to disrupt that narrative as she rushes in and peppers the champ with jab and hook combos, taking every opportunity to batter her already bruised torso with low hooks banging off that belly. Diana relying on base instinct, goes running and trying to weather the storm, manages to keep Coleman at bay with the occasional fist rammed back into her lips for good measure. Coleman not expecting this resistance, makes the same rookie mistake as her counterpart by being too overzealous in the hunt for gold. Late round BASH to her face has her stunned suddenly, reeling on the spot. Diana’s power still a dangerous tool as she takes whatever shots she can to close the round, stealing it overall with some precise shots to the nose and chest before the bell rings and Coleman can retaliate.

ROUND 7:
Coleman’s assault blunted in that last round, and it shows: the challenger is slow out of corner and panting heavily, having counted on her momentum to take her through to the end of the tunnel. Instead, Korkunova leaping in to fill the void, stiff BANG of her a fist off the side of the head, running Jenna down the ropes, the challenger covering her face with her arms. No worries though! Korkunova stuffing fists into the body, left right left right spanking off the belt, before a giant BLAST across the face SENDS COLEMAN DOWN ONCE MORE, leaving her sprawled by the ropes and a victim of Diana’s close quarters power! THIS MIGHT BE IT!

Jenna sputtering, still alive but having trouble getting off her chest, let alone onto her knees. Diana breathing hard, no longer smiling as she conserves her energy on her way back to corner, hoping for the inevitable. But Coleman stunning the arena by making her way back up, bit by stubborn bit, making the referee’s count by number 9!! 

Two minutes left on the clock and let’s see which girl wants this more! Diana rolling inwards, wary shimmy of arms in front of her face as Coleman gets into her own defensive stance. But the Brit’s back is never far from the ropes as she blocks another big hook from Diana,  just barely staggering to the side. Jenna quickly recovers, manages to shoot a quick one-two to Diana’s lips, but the champ not to be denied - Diana STUFFS another left hook into tummy, before another hook catcher Coleman clean on the cheek! JENNA LOOKS DONE, ragdolling on the ropes as Korkunova goes to town on her face and body, wild slaps across the face and MORE body-thumping action forces the referee to finally STEP IN!! It’s a TKO victory Korkunova!

Official Decision: Diana Korkunova defeats Jenna Coleman via TKO7! Diana Korkunova is STILL the BBU Flyweight champion!

AFTER:
That’s it! Diana Korkunova defying the odds and making it out alive of this fight, probably against the most dangerous foe she’s faced yet in her brief career! Jenna collapsing down to her knees after that wild match, mouth hanging open as she’s forced to swallow this bitter outcome.

Diana herself too tired and overcome to celebrate, merely dropping down to her knees and immediately moving to comfort her older counterpart. Baton-passing moment here, folks, as the young Siren continues to impress us - she never wanted the Flyweight straps in the first place, and perhaps that’s the reason she’s managed to hold onto it ever since.

Diana eventually helping Coleman back to her feet, and the two women share a long hug on the ropes, before they’re each escorted back to corners. Definitely a momentous turning point for both these women, and we have no doubt they’ll meet again!
