Malika Menard vs Brooke Burns
(Team Europe vs Team USA) (22-6, 17 KO vs 1-3, 1 KO) Results: Lookout!; Story: Vassago
BEFORE: We're all square before the Main Event so everything is on line as Malika Menard vows to keep the Ryder Cup in Europe at the expense of Brooke Burns and her American friends: "If we ever filmed 'Baywatch' down at Cannes, I'd be playing the lead part! Poor Brooke never got half the exposure Pamela Anderson and Yasmine Bleeth enjoyed back in the day!", the taunting from the French brunette starts early and one simply can't deny the fact Brooke's movie career peaked at the turn of the century when she donned that otherwise iconic red swimsuit.
"So desperate! However cocky brunettes always got laid flat across the sand when we practiced foxy boxing at night!", Brooke tries to keep her spirits up even though the crowd welcomes her with a series of jeers. The blonde Texan has featured is several beach boxing bouts during her previous BBU foray back in 2014 and Denise van Outen claims that Baywatch experience gives her a slight edge on that particular surface alas she might only seek a mere rematch with Menard in Cannes one day because she's destined to taste the wooden boards here tonight instead! Malika vows to finish her off quick and the betting odds indicate the European team has one hand... or glove on that shining trophy already!
Malika Menard wears a light blue bikini set and black gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a sleek ponytail. Brooke Burns wears a red bikini set and white gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a similar sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.
Round 1: Cocky brunette or not, Malika walks the walk early in the going as she traps Brooke in the center of the ring with a sustained jabbing drive while threatening to land that big haymaker and send the blonde packing on the spot. Brooke looks visibly spooked by the pageant's aggressive efforts but did she really expect anything different from the local starlet? Burns isn't exactly Upton in this day and age and the fact she avoids getting trapped on the ropes seems like a genuine victory alone. She dances around Menard's high-powered effort but breaths heavily in the process and then still gets blasted on the nose when the French woman finally finds her range. Another quick hook on the jaw and Burns stumbles onto the ropes where she gets saved by the bell.
Round 2: Brooke's forced into some quick action as Malika threatens to rain punches all over her during another feisty albeit one-sided tangle. The US veteran manages to stick some leather downstairs and surprisingly enough, Menard kinda feels it as she adjusts her stance only for Burns to WHACK her with a wild uppercut on the chin! Huh! The Baywatch cougar can still sling it as Malika wobbles onto her heels and eats a faceful of Texan leather shortly afterwards. The momentum shifts very quickly here as Burns pounces on her opportunity but she doesn't have the brunette's lithe footwork and cuts thin air more often than not during her speedy pursuit. Malika eventually recovers her range but fails to throw the blonde off her stride and eats a very unneccessary double combo on the mouth late on which wobbles her onto shaky knees again!
Round 3: Burns tries to cash in on that unexpectedly solid round and jumps at the pageant winner with another jabbing galore; Malika tries to weather it instead of slugging it outright and makes the wrong bet as the Texas native WHACKS her on the mouth with a piercing hook followed by a proper shot on the chest. Ugh! Malika squeals in pain and has to clinch the blonde cougar which triggers a jeering response from the French audience. So much for the European walk in the park, folks! The Main Event is wide open and Burns knows it too. She bangs in rapid fire shots on the ribcage to keep the brunette under wraps before wrestling her back towards the ropes. The ref can't offer much help here for Malika who forced the clinch in first place. And now she gets shut down along the ropes with Brooke rolling back the tape to Y2K when she duked it out vs Stacy Kamano on the beach. She clears out Menard's tummy with a heavy dose of leather leaving the French heroine out of breath come the bell. Don't look at the cards but it's 29-28 Team USA!
Round 4: 'Le Grande Malika' is downright upset during the interval as she talks with Marion Cotillard alas she avoids more trouble once the action resumes since she beats Burns for a quick overhand and tears a small cut over the right eye with a hooking combo that drops the blonde onto her heels. Brooke tries to swing it from the back foot instead of seeking respite in mid-distance and pays a heavy price for her decision as she bounces off the top of Menard's shoulder while taking immediate hit on the jaw. MALIKA SMOKES HER with a vicious cross that threatens to break a bone or two and Burns yells out in pain while wobbling to the side. She can't raise her arms quick enough so Menard has a free shot and she NAILS the blonde cougar with another powerful hook on the jaw that literally renders Burns numb. The US guard collapses on the spot and Malika has no mercy - she cracks another hook on the nose TO SEND BURNS TUMBLING DOWN ON THE CANVAS!!! The Paris audience errupts in joy while Malika begins to climb the ropes already!!! The count reaches five when it's waved off since Brook remains down spread eagle with eyes closed!! That's KO4 Malika Menard and a Ryder Cup clincher for Team Europe!!!
AFTER: Members of the winning team begin to flock the ring literally tampling poor Brooke Burns in the proccess and even Cheryl Cole gets carried away by the moment that actually required combined effort so rarely enforced by any Top 10 ranked fighter. The Main Event match-up might have been skewed in Team Europe's favor but the hosts have the final say on the line-up and one can expect Team USA to fire back when the Cup returns to the fore in two years time. Besides, Samia Ghadie scored the all-important upset scalp of Danielle Harris which really made the difference!
The Ryder Cup trophy is passed between the five-strong team and even Una Healy poses for a smile with that left eye still completely shut down courtesy of Minka Kelly's efforts. The American team is forced to applaud the winners from nearby and Fergie's the one looking particulary upset as she hopes to smash the Cup over Cheryl Cole's head during the post-event VIP party: "These bytches will be stoned in like two hours anyway! Gawd, look at 'em goofy faces! This would have never happened in the Garden or MGM! What a horrible waste... I want a frickin' rematch!"
However Fergie's complaints vanish in the dense Paris-Bercy air which is otherwise dominated by a standing ovation from the audience and that Team Europe winning pose will be all over the newspapers tomorrow morning! The social media is going wild as we speak already! #TeamEuropeWins
Official Result: Malika Menard def. Brooke Burns KO4. Ryder Cup: Team Europe WINS 3-2.
