Before:

Tonight’s flyweight action sees a clash between a Hall of Famer in Hayden Panettiere and one of the rising stars of the division in Katherine McNamara.

“I give credit where it is due, and Kat definitely deserves it.” Hayden compliments her opponent, “Rising from free agency to get selected by Fates, someone who plucked DiDonato out of free agency and turning her into a top tier contender. Kat has shown promise, but tonight, she goes up against a Hall of Famer. We will see what McNamara is truly made of.”

“Obviously, it’s an honor to fight Hayden, someone who has reached the pinnacle of the FCBA,” Katherine says, clearly a bit nervous about the fight. “Obviously she’s had tons of success. I’m just going to go out there and try and do my best.”

The crowd is still loud as they enter the back half of the card, and it only gets louder as Hayden Panettiere is announced and makes her entrance. The second Hall of Famer on the card makes her entrance and the crowd grows even louder as the blonde singer makes her way to the ring. Hayden takes off her robe to reveal a green bikini set for the match with white gloves that have the Foxfire logo emblazoned in green on them. The Fates girl quickly thereafter makes her way out from the back, and McNamara waves to the crowd. The fans may be at a Fates event, but Panettiere has the majority of the crowd’s support tonight. Kat gets in the ring and sheds her robe to reveal orange gloves with a blue sports bra and trunks for the fight. The two girls touch gloves at the referee’s request, and the bell rings for the sole flyweight fight of the night.

Round 1:

Both girls start off by slowly circling each other, prodding at the other’s defenses. Hayden seems to be in no rush to get any sort of sustained offense going though, and Katherine seizes the opportunity to control the punches. McNamara feints left and goes right, hitting a blow off of the blonde’s gloves to little effect. Panettiere strikes back with a left cross to the chin and a right to McNamara’s body, but Kat comes back with a straight right that nudges Hayden backwards. The upstart redhead quickly darts left and sticks another two blows into Hayden’s head and the blonde is retreating, keeping her guard up and wary of the younger girl’s height and reach advantage. Katherine starts firing off jabs from range, and while they mostly thud into Hayden’s gloves, McNamara still works a couple of blows into her opponent’s torso, steadily and surely getting ahead before the round comes to a close. The first round goes to McNamara on points.

Round 2:

The circling resumes as the second round starts, but this time, Hayden is keeping Katherine on her back foot as the wily veteran keeps her shots sharp and quick, often catching the redhead by surprise and forcing the younger girl to react to her strikes. Panettiere bobs left and sticks McNamara with a right, snapping the redhead’s head backwards. Hayden throws a follow-up left that knocks Katherine back into the ropes, and Katherine is quick on the clinch to escape the ropes, though she doesn’t lock it in until after Hayden works her body over with a couple body blows. The referee separates the two girls and Kat goes after Hayden, landing a couple of shots to her chin, but Hayden ducks a haymaker and drills Katherine in her ribs, and the redhead’s eyes grow big. Panettiere snaps an uppercut into McNamara’s chin and the redhead nearly goes down! Katherine is covering up as Hayden unloads on her to the bell, and there is no question that she won the round. The Hall of Famer comes back in the second to even everything up, and Katherine has to be worried about Hayden’s explosive offense.

Round 3:

Panettiere quickly out of her corner and she goes right back to that explosive offense as she rattles McNamara with a right straight out of the gates. Kat drops back and looks to ward Hayden away with a left but she misses wildly and Hayden sends in two rights that drop Katherine! Panettiere with an early knockdown and McNamara is glancing up at the referee, a stunned look on her face as she seems to be registering the fact that she’s on the canvas and has to get up. The count monotonously goes on and the redhead lifts up her trunk, getting to all fours. She reaches for the ropes as the ref counts out seven, grabs a hold of them at eight, and yanks herself back up at nine to beat the count. The round gets back underway and Hayden feints high and goes for Katherine’s body, but the redhead counterpunches with a solid right to Hayden’s chin. McNamara steps up and fires her own body blow into Panettiere before dropping back anticipating a counter from the blonde, and she gets out just in time. Hayden swings and barely misses the actress, and Kat seems to want to stay away from Hayden and doesn’t press the blonde. The round comes to an end, and Panettiere wins the round courtesy of her knockdown of McNamara.

Round 4:

Kat knows she has to turn things around this round if she wants to come away with the victory and she decides to take the fight to Hayden out of the gates, striking the blonde with a right body blow. Hayden counters with a left, knocking Katherine backwards, and the younger girl is forced to protect herself as Panettiere goes on the offensive, throwing quick rights and lefts at the young starlet. McNamara keeps her guard up and the blows thud off her gloves, but whenever the redhead looks to counter, Panettiere quickly parries her blow and sticks the Fates fighter in her torso. Katherine grapples with the Hall of Famer and the two girls end up clinching each other while trying to get one hand free. The referee eventually steps in and separates the two girls, and McNamara looks for a quick strike after the restart, but Panettiere sniffs it out and stops the redhead’s attempt to heavily swing the momentum into her favor. It’s still a round win for Panettiere, but McNamara made it closer than the prior rounds.

Round 5:

Panettiere turns the screws to start the fifth, weaving in and out of McNamara’s range and hitting the bigger girl with body blows, keeping the redhead off balance. Kat backs up and plants her feet as Hayden dips in again and Katherine smacks a right cross into the singer’s jaw and stops Hayden in her tracks! The Foxfire girl gets her gloves in front of her face just as her Fates opponent crashes a big right that nearly splits the blonde’s guard. McNamara throws another blow at her opponent’s head before switching her focus, driving rights and lefts into the singer’s torso and knocking her backwards. Panettiere shifts left and avoids McNamara from working her into the ropes, and quickly pumps a right into the redhead’s flank, drawing a wince out of the younger girl. Panettiere goes for the follow-up left but McNamara pulls her head out of the way and sticks the blonde with another right before the round comes to an end. Kat pulls herself back into the fight after Hayden won the previous three rounds.

Round 6:

The fight enters its back half and both girls are beginning to show some signs of fatigue as their guards aren’t as solid, as demonstrated by a McNamara right that splits Panettiere’s gloves and strikes the blonde in her mouth. Hayden responds with a short jab to Katherine’s mouth in return, snapping Kat’s head backwards. McNamara drops back as Panettiere advances going for short shots to the body as the blonde coerces the redhead around the ring. Hayden digs in a left ribshot before throwing a big right haymaker but she misses to the right and she yelps out involuntarily as McNamara buries leather into her solar plexus! Panettiere may be hurt but she doesn’t have time to recover as McNamara smokes her with a left to her jaw and swivels the blonde’s head! Katherine turns up the tempo as she chases Hayden around the ring, landing another body blow that draws another wince out of the singer. McNamara feints left and Panettiere protects, remembering the left cross to her jaw from earlier, but she just opens herself up to a crushing right from McNamara! Panettiere wobbles on her legs and Kat drives in a straight left to Hayden’s chin and down goes the Hall of Famer! Panettiere lifts her head off the canvas and shakes her head. The blonde girl slowly pulls up one knee, then a second as she’s on all fours, but the count is already at seven. Panettiere searches around for the ropes, but they are just out of her reach and the ref gets to ten! Your winner by KO6, Katherine McNamara!

After:

McNamara jubilant as she scores the biggest win of her career so far, and she quickly parades around the ring, waving to the crowd as the referee chases after her in an attempt to raise her hand. He eventually catches up with the young redhead and raises her arms, and the rising starlet beams to the crowd, drawing their applause, even if she wasn’t their preferred fighter. Hayden’s sitting on her stool, getting evaluated by the medical staff, and as she stands up, Katherine hugs her and the two exchange pleasantries. Kat smiles and backs off, clapping her hands for the veteran, who smiles and waves to the crowd as they join in with Kat.

“I’ve always looked up to Hayden and what she’s done in the ring, so it was amazing to actually join her.” McNamara tells the press afterwards, “It really was an honor to fight her, but I knew that I could hang with her, and I think I’ve proven that I’ve come a long way with Fates. Now,” Kat pauses, “how far I go remains to be seen, but make sure everyone at flyweight knows that I’m a force to be reckoned with.”
