(Garnet's Gunners UK vs Girls Friday)
(Written by Girls Friday/Results by Lookout!)
Intro: Two hard hitting welterweights clash here, Damaris Lewis looks to build more momentum going into the Diamond Boxing tournament, she takes on the former FCBA champion Hilary Rhoda right now.
Over the past year Damaris has really risen to golden girl standard, claiming the BBU welterweight title by beating Doutzen Kroes, breaking out in the FCBA with wins over the likes of Robyn Lawley, now she is in the Diamond Boxing Tournament, where she might possibly go on to have an FCBA welterweight title shot.
Sitting on the ring apron at her stable as she talks to FCBA Network reporter Layla Anna-Lee after the rest of her stablemates have went home, Damaris tells the reporter "nobody is better then me right now, I have proven I own the BBU with my power, my skill is getting me through the FCBA rankings like a knife through butter" a cocky grin on her face as she flexes her right arm for the camera.
When asked about Hilary, Damaris shakes her head before answering "she is a nobody, Hilary only ever made herself a star by the division being so weak, look how she struggles now that depth has been created, look at how she won't dare take on another top star, she feeds on broken down fighters" Layla points out she challenged Damaris.
That makes Damaris chuckle as she replies "see you are smart but you miss the point, Hilary thinks I am some chump, she underestimates me as several of these dumb bytches do, look at Gemma (Atkinson) I enjoyed smacking her around, hell any day she wants another beating I will happily give it to her, do you know why she won't?" Layla nods as she knows.
Smiling Damaris turns to the camera filming this to answer her own question "because she knows now that she is nothing compared to me, Hilary will learn to respect me too when she kisses my feet in the ring" hopping off the ring apron to head off.
Hilary meanwhile talks to Layla over coffee before she goes to train, joking with Layla "coffee is the best medicine for a morning like this" with temperatures dropping outside in the classic English winter style, both enjoying the heaters in the kitchen as other Girls Friday fighters look to get warm nearby.
Asked to comment on the fight, Hilary says "Damaris has been tearing up trees lately, she always looked good but until she tested herself we didn't know how good she really was, now I'll admit she has some dynamite fists" smiling before she takes another sip of hot coffee.
"But as Righetti showed, as a few people have shown, if you wait long enough Damaris will open herself wide open to be knocked out, her temperament is all wrong, she is too busy trying to humiliate her opponent that she misses the point, everyone at this weight can knock you out at the drop of a hat" says Hilary before she jokes that she might stay there all day till head coach Taryn Terrell tells her to get her ass in the locker room and get out in the gym soon to train.
Fight night, first out comes Damaris with her coach beside her, she has left stablemate Danielle Lloyd at home it seems after giving her abuse when she worked her corner in her last fight, Lewis getting a mixed reception that she doesn't seem to care about at all.
She is wearing all black with her sports bra, trunks, shoes and gloves, hair tied into a ponytail, getting into the ring where she bangs her gloves together as she walks to her corner, shadow boxing as her coach tells her to take Hilary's head off.
With Rhoda now on her way out to go to the ring, she has Rebecca Romijn and Eva Carneiro behind her, smiling as she heads down to the ring, looking like she wants to show the younger woman what it really means to be at the top level.
She is wearing a white sports bra with black trim, matching trunks and shoes, black gloves, while her hair is braided, she climbs through the ropes into the ring with a serious look now on her face, stretching as Rebecca even gives Damaris a hard look, clearly not liking the way she handles herself in the ring.
The referee waves the fighters together at the center of the ring, nose to nose they go as it is clear by their expressions there is no love lost between these two, referee watching them closer as neither says a word.
That changes when they are supposed to touch gloves, Hilary moves hers out but Damaris tells her "f*** you" then turns to whip her hair into her opponent's face, Rebecca tells Hilary to use that as motivation to batter the bytch as she puts it, the bell rings once both fighters are ready, starting 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1: Landing some stiff one-two punches out the gate as they circle, Damaris misses with a big right hook as she looks to have mean intentions tonight, Hilary counters with a double jab to the mouth of her opponent.
Damaris seems a little too hyped up to hurt Hilary, missing with some power punches as she isn't using her jab as well as she can, allowing the experienced Hilary to read her attacks easily.
After the opening minute Lewis does settle down after taking more counter punches to her stunning face then she would like, trading jabs with the more cerebral looking Rhoda, who is keeping patient, using simple jabs and straights mostly.
Finally Damaris gets her first big punch to land as she slips a straight to bang in an uppercut, pressing back the veteran to the ropes with more punches into her face till Hilary holds onto Damaris's right arm, referee needed to step in as things get scruffy with both using their free arm to strike at their opponent.
When they resume fighting Hilary catches Damaris with a double jab/right cross combo to show her fellow Sports Illustrated model how it is done, Damaris covering up in the home stretch as Hilary starts throwing heavier punches till the bell rings, Damaris storms back to her corner looking upset.
Round 2: Coming back out with her jab now firing, Damaris catches Hilary on the move with a jab into her abs, then she lands a right cross up on the chin of Hilary to turn her head, much better start for Lewis as she pounds back her opponent to the ropes.
When Damaris is hitting the guard of Hilary up top, she switches to hard body shots, something she is very good at judging by the look in the older fighters face, Hilary needing to clinch up with Lewis to force the referee to break them up.
Boxing more off the back foot, Hilary is still getting in some good flush combos as Damaris leaves herself a little too open, focused on hunting down Hilary around the outside of the ring.
Where again she catches Hilary to the jaw with a left cross, then quickly steps in with a right to the body, making Rhoda groan out as she finds herself being pressed back into a corner by the strong Damaris.
Showing off her defensive skills, Hilary is doing enough to block some of Damaris's blows that the New Yorker is looking a little annoyed, especially when she gets clinched again, shouting "f***ing fight me ho!" The referee steps in once again.
At the bell Damaris taunts Hilary as she calls her a coward, Hilary not biting as she returns to her corner, nodding to Rebecca as they talk tactics, all the while Damaris is glaring from her stool at them.
Round 3: Sticking on the front foot, Damaris is looking in good shape now, managing to outwork Hilary as she is keeping the veteran under wraps, Hilary mostly focusing on some beautiful counter punches when Damaris throws a wild one in there.
A straight catches Hilary on her mouth as Damaris lands a left across her face, the Garnet Gunners fighter drives Rhoda back to the ropes with those hard body shots making Hilary grimace before she gives Lewis a shove so she can get off the ropes.
There's a confident aura around Damaris, she continues to stalk forwards as the crowd roar her on, though for every good punch she is landing Hilary seems to be finding one of her own as the round goes on.
But back on the ropes goes Hilary after eating a one-two combo on her mouth, blood runs from her bottom lip as Damaris lands another two hard punches square into the face of her opponent, making Rhoda have to cover up in the home stretch of the round.
At the bell Damaris shouts "too easy" as she struts back to her corner with arms out at her sides, Hilary stares daggers at her before returning to her corner to get patched up, Rebecca telling her to remain calm as Hilary takes a deep breath to keep herself cool.
Round 4: If it ain't broke as they say, Damaris continues to come out on the front foot, looking to land a big punch but she misses with a jab/right cross combo as Hilary reads them coming, an overhand right from the Girls Friday fighter though hits Damaris to the side of her head.
It looks like Hilary has a firm read on Damaris now, she is ducking and dodging punches more now before rifling in counter punches, busting up the bottom lip of her opponent now with a right across them to make Damaris hiss out.
Using her left shoulder to bump into Hilary, Damaris tries to make this more a street fight as her right fist is close to the waistband of her opponent's when she works the body, getting held onto by Hilary as the referee is earning their money trying to get these tall titans apart.
Once they are split apart, Damaris misses with a left hook as Hilary leans out the way before popping in an uppercut that makes Lewis take a step back, with less then thirty seconds to go Hilary now powers Damaris back into a corner with punches cruelly aiming for the bottom lip of her opponent.
The round ends with Damaris covering up looking furious, Hilary all business as she returns to her corner, sitting on her stool with a cold look aimed towards Damaris, who thuds her gloves together to show her frustration at the situation.
Round 5: Both wince when they are caught on their lips, blood is dripping down their chins as they circle throwing more punches in exchanges, Hilary not being as much a counter puncher this round, maybe sensing she has made a crack in the defences of her opponent.
Damaris shows her powers are not waning yet, landing a left cross/straight combo that forces Hilary to cover up, Damaris then forcefully shoves her into a corner to the displeasure of the referee, which falls on deaf ears as Damaris goes to work on the body of, Hilary groaning out as her sides are starting to redden up.
Giving Damaris a shove so she can get out the corner, Hilary lands a double jab into the face of Lewis, moving back around the ring as Damaris almost looks to have steam coming out her nose as she is that angry that she hasn't battered Hilary down yet.
Instead she has to be patient which she doesn't want to be clearly, using her left forearm to press Hilary on the ropes, she lands several overhand rights as she has Hilary pinned, in response Hilary throws into the kidneys of Lewis, the referee pries them apart to warn them to keep it clean.
By the end of the round Damaris has to be held back as she is only focused on going for Hilary, who shakes her head as she admits to Rebecca she jumped the gun too early there, Rebecca nods as Eva has to reduce swelling around the cheeks of her fighter, work on her busted lip and ice up her sides, Damaris's lip is being patched up with some puffiness around her cheeks to show how hard they are going at it.
Round 6: Coming back out with laser focused looks on their faces, the fighters trade around the center as Damaris keeps looking to set up her power punches, she keeps loading up on them too long as Rhoda leans out the way to strike back.
A left hook catches Damaris around her eye, she groans out as a right follows to her other side, a cut opens under the left eye of Lewis, who finds herself now under more heavy artillery from her opponent, who is targeting her wounds.
Back goes Damaris trying to fight her way through this, she is getting beaten punch for punch as her cries out, sweat with blood flies off her as Damaris is pounded into a corner, where now she has to clinch up with Rhoda, the tables seem to have truly turned.
Once they are split apart, Hilary catches Damaris again with an overhand right after she dips under a wild right haymaker, Damaris looking sloppy now as her anger seems to have become a flood of worry at what's happening, her left eye is becoming swollen as she steps back.
As the round comes to a close, Damaris is covering up on the ropes, when the bell rings she gives Hilary a shove with the referee risking their health to keep the warring pair apart, coaches needing to pull their fighters to their corners to patch them up, in Damaris's case to try to get her mentally right for the next round.
Round 7: Damaris still seems to want to try to walk through Hilary, problem is the veteran is sticking to Damaris's left side where her vision is impaired, slamming the flusher punches square into the face of her opponent.
A missed right hook by Damaris leads to an uppercut snapping her head back, a left hook follows as her head turns INTO A RIGHT HOOK FLUSH ON HER CHIN, DAMARIS LANDS WITH A THUD ON HER BACK, REFEREE CHECKS HER BEFORE NOT BOTHERING TO COUNT AS SHE IS OUT COLD!
Winner Hilary Rhoda KO Round 7
After: A stunning knockout marks an ill tempered fight, Hilary nudges past the referee to put her right foot on Damaris's chest, posing for the cameras as she yells "let the bytch remember this when she wakes up" she then marches back to her corner after making her point whose the better fighter.
Over rushes the Garnets coach to try to wake up Damaris, who blinks away after getting smelling salts under her nose, she is asking what the hell happened, making the coach look worried as the ring side doctor comes to check on her.
In the Girls Friday corner they show no concern for her, Hilary telling Rebecca how much fun it was to knockout cold that arrogant cow, with Rebecca grinning as she knows the feeling of doing that to some of her rivals over the years.
Damaris is helped out the ring as the ringside doctor decides they want to do more tests on her, how will this effect her next fight as she has to fight Romee Strijd in the Diamond Boxing Tournament?
In the ring Hilary doesn't care about any of that, she just enjoys the moment of getting her left hand raised by the referee, blowing kisses with her right hand, as much as she is smiling she admits to the referee she is sore from head to toe, laughing with them as they reply how so they think the referee feels getting between them so much.
Stepping out the ring with Rebecca and Eva, can Hilary work her way back into title contention this year and even maybe get her second title, well all she cares about right now is getting into a ice bath, smiling as she leads the way to the locker rooms.
