ASHLEY BENSON VS YVETTE MONREAL

Ashley: 31 YO, 5’4 (1.62 m), 23-32-0, 23 KO since 2011, Pretty Little Punchers

Yvette: 28 YO, 5’4 (1.62 m) , 1-0-0, 1 KO since 2020, Global Boxing Syndicate

Before: “I heard there was a new girl on the block so naturally I wanted to fight her,” says Ashley Benson as the prefight Press conference. “I like fighting newbies to see what they’ve got ahead of nearly everyone else. She’s beaten another newbie named Meg DeLacy, but now I’m here to give her the REAL test by fighting ME!”

“I appreciate your interest, Ashley,” said Yvette, “and I assure you: I’m worthy of that interest, I was happy to win my first fight, but fighting someone with a lot of experience is my next step up. I hope you won’t mind being a stepping stone.”

“And I hope you won’t mind stumbling over this stepping stone,” Ashley retorted.

“I don’t plan to stumble,” Yvette said flatly,

The two women eyed each other and then nodded. They both looked eager to get to their actual fight, And before long they are standing across from each other in ring with cheering fans buzzing with excitement. Yvette Monreal is in a flame red one piece swimsuit with black gloves and boots with red laces. Ashley Benson is in a ice blue one piece swimsuit with dark blue gloves and boots (light blue laces). Ashley has her blonde hair in a ponytail. Yvette has her dark hair in a battle braid down her back.

The referee goes over the instructions with no difficulty. Ashley and Yvette tap gloves and then go to their corners. Very shortly the bell rings and out they come…

R1: Ashley opens the fight with a series of quick jabs into Yvette’s face putting the rookie back on her heels. Ashley then adds smacking rights to Yvette’s jaw and then a left to the chin. Yvette falling back in confusion. Ashley advancing confidently with raking hooks to Yvette’s midsection. Yvette finally gets her jab going with licks Benzo to the chin and side of the head. Ashley moving to one side to dodge Yvette’s jab while now rattling her with hard shots to the side of the head. Yvette trying to dodge the incoming, but still taking a lot of hits. Round ends in a wide win for Ashley Benson.

R2: Yvette moves out much more quickly and shows aggression as striking first at Ashley with a head snapping right uppercut to the chin. Then Yvette drives left and right hooks into Ashley’s midsection to send her reeling back all doubled up. Ashley trying to counter with jabs into Yvette’s face, but then gets smashed hard with s right to the jaw and then a left. Ashley’s legs trembling and Yvette shifts gears with more hooks to the belly. Ashley struggling to stabilize her defenses, but Yvette giving her no time, Shots pounding away at Ashley to the head and then the body. Bell sounds and Ashley is left looking shell shocked as Yvette wins the round wide.

R3: More Yvette aggression to open the new round. Ashley trying to protect her head, but now Yvette is feasting on Benzo’s rack, ribs and belly. Ashley trying to fight back, but her counters just aren’t discouraging the rampaging rookie. Ashley has to give ground and Yvette is showing skill in herding the blonde onto the ropes. Ashley desperately clinching to escape being trapped, but the ref’s breaks don’t buy her much relief. Yvette right back at Ashley to the body, though she never quite gets Ashley pinned before the bell sounds. Ashley moving slowly to her corner as Yvette strides confidently to her own. Yvette Monreal has won this round wide.

R4: Ashley Benson clean up by the PLP corner and comes out with determination to get back in this fight. Yvette comes cruising in, but promptly gets a big right hand to the nose. Yvette looking startled, falls back with blood trickling from one nostril. Ashley quick to follow up with shots to Yvette’s jaw and the sides of her head. Yvette retreating, using the jab to slow Ashley and then swerves around the blonde. Ashley caught looking in the wrong direction as Yvette smashes a right into her jaw. Ashley stumbles away, but as Yvette rushes in, she drives a hook into Yvette’s belly. Yvette’s own momentum adds power to the hook and she jackknifes forward with a groan. Ashley again going after the sides of Yvette’s head as she stumbles backwards. Then Yvette suddenly comes up straight and smites Ashley to the chin. Ashley knocked back, but Yvette is slow to follow-up. When Yvette does move forward she encounters a barrage of jabs to head, breasts and ribs. Yvette makes a stand with her jab. The two fighters are jabbing away as the round ends. Big action round ends with Ashley Benson pulling out a narrow win.

R5: Ashley and Yvette both right back at each other as soon as the bell rings. Ashley gets some good shots in against Yvette’s head, but Yvette gives it right back to Ashley’s noggin. Then the two swing away with head swiveling rights and lefts to the jaw. These stagger both fighters, but Yvette shakes it off first to connect with Ashley’s chin with one—two—three successive uppercuts. Ashley lurching back towards the ropes, Yvette stuffs right hooks into Ashley’s belly to drive her butt-first into the strands. Ashley tries to cover her face, but isn’t quick enough. Yvette brings a cracking right into Ashley’s battered chin AND DOWN GOES ASHLEY! Ashley’s legs just collapse and Ashley slumps over, sliding down the ropes to end up in a heap under the bottom strand. Yvette to the neutral corner. Referee moves in to count. Ashley trying to rise, she tries to use the ropes to climb back to her feet, but her legs won’t cooperate, Ashley crumples back to the canvas as referee is calling out:

“NINE!...TEN!...YOU ARE OUT!!!

THE WINNER: YVETTE MONREAL DEFEATS ASHLEY BENSON KO5

After: “Wow, I guess I proved I am for real!” A excited Yvette tells Archer News reporter Skip Tracey after the fight. “Ashley Benson gave me some hard punishment, but I came back and I knocked her out. This is great! I can’t wait for my next bout.”

“The kids got talent—and punching power,” Ashley Benson tells Skip when he talks to her. “I am not happy I lost, but I did get her to show what she’s got which turned out to be plenty. She’s going to be tough customer as she gains experience. I hope future opponents took notes—they’ll need them.”

Very good second outing for newcomer Yvette Monreal. She showed she can take a beating from a veteran and come back to win. However, there are more formidable veterans out there than Ashley Benson, and we’ll see how she does as the competition gets harder. As for Ashley, she seems to be settling in on a sort of “gatekeeper” role in challenging new fighters. She might not win, but she certainly gives these rookies a showcase to show if they have what it takes ti succeed in the FCBA.
