Dua Lipa: 25 years old, 5’8”, 13-8 since 2017, Girls Friday
Before:
“I mean, she’s definitely a singer who’s had success, but she’s not on my level.” Taylor says of Dua. “There is only one elite singer in the FCBA, and I am that one. And I have unfinished business with Girls Friday after Kendall Jenner beat me. When I’m finished with Dua, Kendall’s going to have no choice but to try and get some semblance of revenge.”
Lipa looks Swift in her eyes and icily says, “Arrogant as usual. Taylor, you’re in decline. Your 2019 with Fates was special. But your 2020 was less so, and your 2021 is going to go downhill even more. You’ve had your peak. It’s my time now, and I’m going to continue the tradition that Kendall made of Girls Friday beating you.”
Swift is the first singer out for the match, the blonde striding confidently to the ring. She swings herself into the ring and removes her robe to reveal a deep red sports bra with black trunks and red gloves, her hair in a ponytail for the fight. She briefly climbs a ringpost before dropping down and paces the ring, waiting for her opponent.
Lipa soon steps out and the crowd roars, the majority of the crowd seemingly in Dua’s favor. The brunette stares down the blonde as the Brit pauses before making her way to the ring, never letting her eyes waver from the American. Lipa slips under the ropes and removes her robe to reveal a deep blue sports bra with matching trunks and white gloves, her hair in a bun for the match, and she shoots daggers at Taylor. Swift notices and gets in Lipa’s face, looking down at the shorter singer, but Dua doesn’t back down. The referee gets the blonde to back off, and when he asks the two to bump gloves, Dua reluctantly holds out hers, but Taylor doesn’t respond in kind, instead just backing off, taking some boos from the crowd, the singer clearly completed her turn from lovable young starlet to heel. The bell rings and off we go for ten rounds of lightweight action!
Round 1:
Swift charges after Lipa to start the first, instantly putting her jabs to use as she works the younger singer backwards until Dua plants her feet and digs a right into Taylor’s chest, halting the blonde in her tracks. The English girl quickly hits another ribshot on the blonde and now it’s the American who’s retreating, and Dua turns up the tempo. Lipa driving short, quick, and efficient rights and lefts into Swift’s body, steadily working the favored Fates girl backwards. Taylor’s arms are cramped from the close range combat and she is barely able to get two blows into Dua’s chest before the brunette connects with a straight shot to the blonde’s nose and back goes Taylor into the ropes! Dua isn’t showing any signs of letting up as she has the bigger girl backed up, but the more experienced Taylor clinches with her opponent to force a break. Taylor is more cautious after the break, and lands some solid shots in on Dua, but by the time the bell rings, she hasn’t done enough to swing the round back to her.
Round 2:
Dua the more aggressive girl to start this round, quickly closing the distance with Taylor and looking for short, efficient blows into the blonde’s frame. Lipa gets her solid shots into Swift, but Taylor quickly drops back and slams a cross into her brunette opponent’s jaw, sending the British singer to her left. Swift pounces on a vulnerable Lipa and drives a straight right into Dua’s face, driving her back into the ropes. Lipa covers up as Swift goes to body before Dua clinches the blonde, forcing a break. Lipa changes tactics, waiting for Swift’s jabs before going for the counter, but Swift has seen this too many times before with girls shorter than herself, and keeps her jabs crisp, not giving Lipa an opportunity to get any sort of counterattack going and landing a pair of clean shots on Dua before the bell. Taylor evens everything up in the second round on points.
Round 3:
Both girls settle into their rhythms and respective fight styles, with Taylor fighting from range with her jabs and Dua punching back on the counter. Swift feints left and goes right, catching Lipa off-guard and allowing the singer to step forwards and drive two rights into her opponent’s ribs, but Dua smacks Taylor in her mouth with a short right strike of her own, knocking Taylor backwards. Swift plants her feet and shoots out a right that zooms past Lipa’s shoulder as the Brit slides to her left to avoid the blow before driving a straight right into Taylor’s jaw that snaps the blonde’s head backwards. Taylor covers her head just in time to block a follow-up left from Dua, and the younger girl quickly shifts her focus to Taylor’s body, pounding blows into her midriff. Taylor drops backwards while simultaneously shooting out rights to ward Dua off, and she catches the Brit with two blows that force the brunette to stop her pursuit of Swift. The round comes to an end, and Dua has yet another round to her name.
Round 4:
Swift is more reserved to start the fourth, more cautiously jabbing at Lipa, and while the pace is slower, it seems to be working for the blonde singer. The fewer blows she throws mean that Dua has fewer opportunities to hit her on the counter, not to mention that Taylor’s blows are landing, notably two jabs that hit Dua squarely in her mouth, knocking the Brit backwards and briefly stunning her before being brought back to reality by a left hook from Swift. Taylor shifts right and digs in two strikes to Dua’s ribs, but quickly takes a blow to her right cheek and then her chest as Lipa takes advantage of the relatively close proximity between the two singers. Swift backs off and sticks another right into Lipa’s ribs, forcing the Brit away from her. The two girls circle each other in the waning seconds of the fight before the bell sends them both back to their respective corners, with Taylor coming out on top for the fourth round.
Round 5:
The fifth round starts with the same slow, methodical pace of the fourth, with Taylor keeping those famous jabs going. She clips Dua’s chin with a left, but only just and Dua connects with a left hook to Taylor’s jaw, stunning the blonde. Lipa doesn’t waste any time and rocks Swift with a right cross and nearly drops the American and forces Taylor to cover her head as Dua hammers every inch of legal flesh that she can find, hamming away on Taylor’s body, pounding the bigger girl into the ropes. Swift is quick to clinch the other singer which forces the referee to part the two. Out of the break, Lipa warily circles Swift before darting forwards to strike at the American, but Taylor sees the move and strikes the singer with two blows before the round finishes. Dua so far is showing that she has what it takes to make it into the elite tier of fighters as she takes another round off of Taylor.
Round 6:
Taylor gets an earful from the Fates corner, and whatever was said to her seems to have had an impact as the blonde comes out more aggressively, using her long reach to corner the smaller girl in the ropes. Swift bullies the smaller Lipa in the ropes as the Brit just doesn’t have the reach to wrap up Swift and takes three blows to her guard, preventing the punches from doing more damage. Taylor goes for an uppercut to break Dua’s defenses, but Lipa blocks the blow and finds Taylor squarely in her range. Lipa jabs Swift in her mouth and follows up with a left to her body that start moving the blonde backwards. Taylor quickly protects her head and starts firing back from close range, the two girls scrapping in the center of the ring where they eventually get tangled up. The bell rings before they can be separated, at which point they both go to their respective corners, with Taylor claiming the round.
Round 7:
After six rounds, the two girls are starting to slow down as they emerge from their respective corners. Taylor continues her aggression from the prior round and looks to put Dua in the corner again, but the British singer is ready for the American’s tactics this time, ducking a right and sticking the blonde in her ribs before hitting her with a cross to her jaw. Lipa’s strikes send Swift backwards and force the blonde to cover up her head, and the brunette works the blonde’s body, driving rights and lefts into the singer’s ribs around her sports bra. Taylor takes two long strides backwards, planting her feet before launching a right-left combo that clips Dua and halts her offensive. Swift feints left and follows-up with her right, but barely misses and Lipa takes the opportunity to bust open Taylor’s upper lip and the blood drips down onto the blonde’s jugs. The bell rings and brings the round to an end as Lipa strikes back, and this fight looks like it may go the distance with neither girl getting any knockdowns through seven rounds.
Round 8:
The two girls begin to show signs of fatigue from the fight as they are more sluggish getting out of their respective corners. Dua feints left before shifting to her right, but can’t move to her right before Taylor clobbers her with a right to her chin and Dua’s legs briefly buckle and she covers her head! Swift pounces, closing the distance with two quick strides and buries two big rights into Lipa’s midriff, drawing gasps out of the Brit. Dua grapples for a clinch, but Taylor escapes her clutches, leaving the Brit exposed, and Taylor drives a left uppercut into her jaw and follows up with a right cross that sends Lipa spinning to the canvas! Swift backs off to her corner as a woozy Lipa stares up fuzzily at the referee, flat on her back as the ref counts in front of her. Lipa moves around her arms, rolling herself onto her belly and she tries to get to all fours, but that’s as far as she makes it as the referee counts “ten” out loud. Your winner by KO8, Taylor Swift!
After:
Swift stares at Lipa after her victory, raising her gloves before turning her back and posing for the crowd, the singer smiling to the crowd as Dua gets tended to by the medics. The blonde singer leaves the ring after getting tired of posing for photos, not even bothering to check in on Lipa, who is more conscious.
“No other singer can hang with me.” Taylor boasts, “No model, no actress. Nobody. And before anyone says anything, Courtney Tailor’s days are numbered. I’m going to get my revenge.” And with that, Swift stomps off, having made her point.
Dua Lipa talks to the press moments later, and while she lost the match, she’s still on the offensive – at least verbally. “So she claims she’s number one fighter in the division? Didn’t Kendall Jenner flatten her in December and show that Taylor’s not the number one girl? Didn’t she lose to Courtney Tailor? Didn’t she lose to her own stablemate Emily DiDonato? Taylor may be a solid fighter, but she is not number one.”
