BEFORE
Valentina takes the podium “In Italy I watched BBU fights and saw some FCBA fights on film. I decided to try the FCBA. I came to the US and quickly got my first fight. My opponent was Alexis Ren, a top ten lightweight and former champion, I lost and quickly found out that unless you are in a stable and lose your first fight, you are forgotten. I called a top fighter’s management and asked for a fight, I was told their fighter doesn’t fight opponents who don’t have a win. That made me mad and I decided I am going to get fights on my own. I’m going to win and then I am going to fight that fighter who turned me down and teach her a lesson
Riley: I have an experience exactly like Valentina I lost my first fight to Kaia Gerber and my phone hasn’t rang since. I heard through the grapevine, Valentina was looking for a fight and here we are. One of us is going to walk away with our first win and it won’t be Valentina
THE FIGHT
Valentina enters the ring dressed in black: Black bikini.black boots, black gloves with her hair in a bun. Riley is wearing white. White bikini, white gloves and boots. Her hair is in a pony tail
Round 1 They touch gloves and back off. Valentina makes the first move with a left jab to Riley’s face. Riley’s lands a similar punch to Valentina’s face, but doesn’t follow up. The two circle each other looking for an opening. Valentina moves in with a right hook to Riley chin and takes a left cross to her in return. Riley follows with a pair of hooks to Valentina midsection and right hook to the jaw. A straight right sends the brunette back to the ropes. Another straight right brings Valentina’s guard up and Rasmussen goes to the body. Riley takes what Valentina is giving up and works on the body. Valentina can’t get off the ropes Finally, she lands a straight right to Riley’s face stopping her assault as the round ends,
Round 2. Valentina was told she needs to be more aggressive. so she is fast off her stool. She surprises Riley, who is barely out of her corner with a right cross and follows up with a right hook to the chin. She has Rasmussen trapped in her corner. She’s in close pumping punches into Riley’s body. Riley tries to push her away, but is stopped by a left-right to her chest. Riley hasn’t room to punch. She is laying against the ring post trying to block as many punches as she can until the bell rings Valentinas shoulder roll as she punches away at Riley, who is just blocking as much as she can. Finally the bell ends Valentina’s assault. Despite being a punching bag during the round, Riley is not in bad shape
Round 3. Riley is not going to be trapped in her corner again. She is out of her corner quickly and the two meet in the center of the ring. Riley lands the first punch a long right jab to the face. Valentina is back with right cross. The two are suddenly toe to toe ripping punches into each other. Bodies are pounded and head punched back. Riley’s getting the best of it forcing Valentina to break it off The two circle each other looking for an opening. Finally Riley sees what she was looking or and rips a right hook to Valentina’s chin that buckles her legs. She manages to keep her feet as Riley backs her to the ropes. A flurry of punches land on Valentina’s body and chin. Valentina finally lands an overhand left to Riley’s face that ends her rally as the bell rings
Round 4 Riley is a little tired after all the punching in the last round that may have hurt Valentina ,but didn’t come close to putting her away. Once again the two meet in the center of the ring. Riley’s right cross misses, but Valentina’s left hook doesn’t. Riley staggers away, but Valentina is slow to follow up and loses an opportunity.. Once again the two are toe to toe, but this time it’s Valentina who is getting the best of it.. She lands a left cross, right hook and another left that that drives Riley back into the ropes. Valentina sets up in front of her opponent and starts punching away. Riley is going glassy eyed as the punches land. She’s rolling in the ropes desperately trying to avoid Valentina’s gloves. She manages to land a couple crosses, but overall she is a punching bag as the round ends.
Round 5 Valentina is great encouraged the way the last round went. She’s out of her corner ready to end it. She lands the first punch of the round, a straight right to the face that drives Riley back. She moves in with a left right to the head, but a sweeping right cross misses and Riley catches her with a right hook the stuns her. Riley follows up with a right cross, left cross and another pair that punches Valentina’s head back. Valentina manages to drive a left into Riley’s stomach that stops her assault. Valentina lands a sweeping uppercut to the right side of Riley’s head. She reels back into the ropes, Valentina follows intending to end the fight, but she runs into Riley uppercut that buckles her legs and a right cross sends Valentina to the canvas on her back. Riley is in a corner as she watches Valentina struggle to get to her knees. She’s listening to the count. At eight, she rises to her feet. The referee wipes her gloves and signals for the fight to continue. Riley is quickly on her opponent driving her back into the ropes. The bell sounds saving Valentina from further punishment.
Round 6 Riley’s confidently out of her corner wanting to slug it out. Valentina’s decides to use a maneuver she has seen Theron use. She is moving parallel to the ropes moving away from Riley while she somewhat recovers from the previous round. Riley tries to close, but Valentina is changing directions. Finally Valentina surprises Riley by quickly moving in and landing a right hook to her chin. The two are again toe to toe punching away. Surprisingly Valentina is now getting the best of it, forcing Riley to back off. The two exchange rights at the bell. In her corner Riley is complaining she had to waste half a round following Fradegrada around trying to get a punch in
Round 7 Both fighters look a little tired. Neither has finished the seventh round so far in their careers. Once again Valentina is moving parallel to the ropes. Riley is anxious to engage. She charges Valentina and they are in serious slugging match. Riley rocks Valentina with a left to the jaw. A followup right sails over Valentina’s head as she ducks. Valentina then comes up with a power right to to Riley’s chin. Riley sways and her gloves drop to her side. Another right between the eyes drops Riley to the canvas. She is sprawled on her back as the count begins. At four is raises her head off the canvas. That’s as far as she is going to get. It’s over as the referee completes the ten count
Valentina Fradegrada defeats Riley Rasmussen KO7
AFTER
The two face the press.
Valentina: “It sure feels great to win a fight, my first win but I guarantee you it won’t be my last. I think it was a good fight. Riley gave me all I could handle for six rounds. Now I am looking forward to my next win. I’m going to make that snob who refused to fight a “loser”, a lesson she will never forget”
Riley: “I guess it was a good fight. She won, I lost. End of story” |
