Cassidy Freeman vs Paula Patton

BEFORE: It's time for the second meeting between Cassidy Freeman and Paula Patton who first clashed back in September 2012 when Paula was riding high after her Upset of the Decade victory over Amanda Righetti. Cassidy managed to take a close ten round decision but it still spoke more volume about her opponent's durability which prevented the Illinois redhead from showcasing her one-punch destruction skills. Cassidy vows to make up for that flaw and knock Paula's lights out tonight which sounds arrogant enough at first glance but Patton's recent struggles suggest she's not as durable as she was nine years ago anymore.

Cassidy Freeman wears a brown bikini set & red gloves. Long dark reddish hair tied in a braid. Paula Patton wears a black bikini set & blue gloves. Long black hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the welterweight division.

Round 1:
Almost too much respect shown by both women in the early stages as the action is slow to develop and produces half-hearted single-hand attacks and plenty of clinching stalemate. Paula becomes more aggressive once she finds a hole downstairs and tries to chop the redhead's ribcage but eats a quick uppercut response which provides a much-needed spark. The problem for Paula is, she gets thumped onto the ropes and struggles to embrace Cassidy's methodical pounce as the punching volume gap widens and has Freeman firmly on top come the final stretch. Paula descends behind a desperate earmuff cover but still gets blasted into a worrisome standstill at the bell.

Round 2:
Paula tries to recover after that subdued opener and gets overly aggressive with her aerial swings but then she catches the younger actress on the temple and cashes in with a quick hook from the other side as well. Cassidy wobbles onto her heels instead of firing back at her rival which allows Patton to dominate the close range pounce and rattle the redhead onto the ropes down the stretch. Cassidy finally matches Paula's jabbing execution while hugging the ropes but eats another scything cross on the mouth and has to apply a clinching strategy to halt Patton's charge in the closing stages.

Round 3:
More of the same in the third, Paula lands the better combo during the initial back & forth tussle and is able to clean up the redhead from both flanks thereafter. Freeman relies on her power supply too much to bother with stacking up favorable numbers and gets outworked in the phone booth again. She stalls the action by headlocking the older woman but Paula still whacks her on the exposed midsection and stays on top of the slugging charge in the final minute when she keeps Cassidy pinned on the turnbuckle and cracks a couple of nasty hooks on the chin to forge ahead 29-28 on the cards.

Round 4:
Cassidy gets more animated with her jabbing delivery as she tries to neutralize Paula in close range; she has to smack some midsection to make that happen but the body assault eventually shuts Patton down during the opening minute. Freeman goes back to the head-hunting pounce thereafter but lack of production brings Paula back into the jabbing game and both women exchange meaningful head shots before LCA coach Claudia Schiffer urges the redhead to seek more body assault success. Cassidy obeys to the advice but gets headbutted on the nose late and Patton escapes the heat with minimal damage.

Round 5:
Paula tries to hang one upstairs and keeps Cassidy honest on her toes but the big haymaker doesn't find its way which results in the older actress wasting energy in a fruitless chase during the opening minute. Freeman lets by the aerial strike and controls Patton with her front (left) arm before booming a right hand into her face. Paula got caught looking and failed to lock the guard in time; she wobbles to her heels and suddenly Cassidy cranks up the jabbing volume to pierce the exposed midriff sending Patton butt-in-ropes in relentless fashion. The older woman fails to muscle her way into a clinching stalemate and has to soak up a late uppercut flurry that dissects her guard and snaps her head back & forth until the bell comes to the rescue! Huh! Cassidy barks in anger but she still sends Paula on soft knees back to her corner!

Round 6:
Paula is slow to get up for the sixth and doesn't have the mobility to avoid another slugging charge that dissects her high-guard; Cassidy glues the older woman to the spot with a left/right combo on each temple before blasting a right cross on the mouth THAT FOLDS PATTON DOWN ON HER KNEES moments later!!! That's not exactly vintage one-punch Freeman highlight but Paula's durability isn't that great these days either as she remains down on all fours during the count and slumps into another tough defeat. KO6 Cassidy Freeman!!!

AFTER: Cassidy nods back at the ref and heads to her corner where Claudia Schiffer also keeps it very low-profile. Paula Patton might be a crowd-favorite but the Lioness entourage isn't quite convinced taking a scalp like that will improve Cassidy's overall profile anymore. There's a new crop of talent above 130lbs whereas Freeman/Patton is one for the welter purists. Nonetherless it was worth the price of admission given the response on virtual fan wall.
