Harumi Nemoto vs Miri Hanai

Revolution Boxing vs Revolution Boxing
FCBA Record: 8-7, 8KO vs 1-1, 1KO

"Why are stablemates fighting stablemates?” asks Miri.

“It’s a sort of test. Helps weed out the weak. Depending on who wins, it also helps a bit with win rate.” replies the founder.

They are in Revolution Boxing’s home gym in Taipei, and Miri Hanai’s opponent is Harumi Nemoto. The two girls are wearing sports bras and shorts, Harumi in blue and Miri in red.

R1: Miri’s eager to prove herself after so long out of the limelight, and this eagerness overwhelms Harumi, punches slamming into her chest and belly - Miri is too short to reach her head. But this means that all Harumi has to do is guard low, and her defense would be more or less complete. Still, the round went to Miri by a wide margin due to the successful early aggression.

R2: Harumi’s learned now, and Miri’s height disadvantage starts to show. Miri takes several punches to the head that throws her off balance and disorients her. This allows Harumi to capitalize and take her to the ropes, where it is all she can do to defend and not lose.

R3: Miri now knows to defend high - she’s short enough that it’s hard to reach low enough to hit her low. It makes things difficult for her opponent, and even if a few punches do go through, the round goes to Harumi only by a small margin. The judges know that she defended well during the round.

R4: Small usually means slippery, and that is true for Miri, who ducks and dives around Harumi, hitting punches here and there. She embodies the spirit of the mosquito - never do too much damage in one go, but be annoying as heck while you’re at it. Harumi is never able to hit her, and ends up with glove marks all over her at the end of the round.

R5: Miri tries the same in the fifth round, but a hard punch that catches her midway through the round puts an end to her antics. Harumi seizes the round from her opponent in the latter half of the second minute, but this is not enough to secure the round for her.

R6: Mosquitoes may be annoying, but mosquitoes get squished. Harumi lands punches all over Miri’s head and chest, then finally finishes her off in the second minute with a punch to the face. Blood stains the ring mat as Miri is counted out.

Winner: Harumi Nemoto via KO6!

Post-Match: As the medics attend to Miri, her manager approaches her.

“You will fight Hitomi Aizawa next. She’s been relegated to FSJ’s bench as cannon fodder. If you cannot beat her, then you will become a free agent.”
