Yasmin Verheijen vs Jennifer Hawkins

BEFORE: There's every reason why Yasmin Verheijen should be considered as the best Lioness Club lightweight but she hasn't won enough fights over the years and just can't make that next step into true BBU stardom. What's more, the likes of Robin Holzken and Marloes Horst claim they are the best Dutch lightweights not named Doutzen Kroes so Verheijen has a lot of catching up to do before this supremacy ship sails for good!

On the other hand we have former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins whose career has admittedly stalled in the last few years but she remains a valuable target on anyone's hit list. She claims all the pressure is on the Dutch brunette tonight and jokes she's the best pageant in the ring anyway as Yasmin only came third in her own Miss Universe bid exactly ten years after the Aussie won her crown! Well, you can't argue with facts!

Yasmin Verheijen wears an orange bikini set & blue gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a curled ponytail. Jennifer Hawkins wears a black bikini set & golden gloves. Long blonde hair tied in a sleek ponytail. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Jennifer jumps into a hectic head-hunting assault that forces Yasmin to showcase some mobility in the early stages but the Aussie pageant actually fails to land a big punch and gets gradually outworked once the brunette decides to respond in counter-punching fashion. Both women engage in a ruthless dispute in the center of the ring but Yasmin's punches carry more steam and cripple Hawkins into quiet spasms down the stretch. However the Aussie tourist stays in the slugging lane and refuses to back off even though she probably realizes she's losing all these back & forth exchanges overall. Yasmin gets vocal and shouts in delight when she wobbles Jennifer onto her heels following a cracking right hook on the ear. Hawkins reaches out from a defensive stance but struggles to make her efforts work and eats another brutal hook on the jaw right at the bell as well.

Rounds 2 & 3:
Yasmin tries to outslug the blonde in heads up dispute but gets beaten to the body as Jennifer finds a different route to halt the Dutch attack. And she plugs steady leather downstairs to make Verheijen think better off it... she also lands a couple of nasty jug shots to keep Yasmin uncomfortable as the fight regains the back & forth mood. Both women keeps punishing each other in close range but lack the decisive power which makes Lioness coach Mel B. largely upset as Hawkins was advertised as the hittable past-prime veteran after all. However she stuns Verheijen with repeated body attacks and leaves the younger model clinching her into a stalemate instead. More of the same in the third... Yasmin bounces off the Aussie high-guard early, gets beaten to the body in minute two and hits the stalemate button in minute three! Not good!

Round 4:
Jennifer seeks more outright damage and punks the Dutch brunette straight up the middle as she chases that head-hunting breakthrough. Yasmin loops a desperate response from her heels as she's kinda all over the place and might be fortunate Hawkins actually doesn't find that power supply when she needs it. Both women barge each other in the chest and Verheijen recovers first, she thumps the Aussie in the ribcage and plugs extra leather in the jugs before a clash of heads halts her charge. Jennifer claims she was headbutted on purpose and gets aggressive thereafter; she actually whacks the younger woman on each temple and drives her onto the ropes where Yasmin gets outboxed and slumps into more spasms when Hawkins hammers her to the body again!

Round 5:
Angry scenes in the Lioness Club corner ahead of the fifth and even the Aussie entourage knows Yasmin will come with all guns blazing here. Her instant charge opens a door for Jennifer to counter-punch herself into a commanding position but she has to avoid all the slugging drama first... and she doesn't! Huh! Yasmin whacks her on the jaw and delivers a head-hunting blast that wobbles the blonde to the side before another right hand tears into her solar plexus and makes her wince in pain! Hawkins drops forward and eats an uppercut double that allows the Dutch woman to assume full control of the action. She pancakes the ailing foe onto the ropes where she adds more jabbing wrath and connects with more quick head shots late while Jennifer has to suck it up and actually blames coach Nikki Visser for losing this round.

Round 6:
Jennifer tries to smack it into Yasmin's face but bounces off the top of her forehead and gets picked off from the inside instead! The Dutch stunner rips a right hook on the chin and adds immediate follow up on the mouth before beating Hawkins to another punch. She reaches out to tear a small gash under the left eye and wobbles the blonde into an uppercut stinger on the jaw that DROPS THE AUSSIE WOMAN FOR THE COUNT!!! Jennifer gets rattled down onto her knees but battles back to her feet at eight and vows to hang on as Yasmin roars from her corner to resume the head-hunting assault. Jennifer manages to land a single cross on the nose but eats a wicked left/right combo on the mouth and slumps into another uppercut double on the chin that DROPS HER ON THE KNEES for the second time. Ugh! Yasmin struts back to her corner and Hawkins simply slumps onto all fours and shakes her head as she's unable to mount a recovery anymore. "NINE... TEN... YER OUT!!!" KO6 Yasmin Verheijen!!! 

AFTER: That's a very important victory for the aspiring contender but BBU TV's Denise van Outen reckons Robin Holzken and Marloes Horst won't exactly be impressed back home in The Netherlands! Even Yasmin realizes she needs to rack up more wins in quick succession and reveals she plans to fight Bianca Balti next month already: "The only unknown is timing. We could do this at the PPV or at the Anniversary card where my manager wants to feature a couple of Italians. Uh! Did I say too much?" (laughs).
