Before:
Action in the Victoria’s Secret tournament continues with two of the elder stateswomen of the brand. Karolina Kurkova is 37 years old while Ana Beatriz Barros is 39 years old, but as far as these models are concerned, age is just a number, and who can blame them? Both women are fitter than most women in their 20’s, and they both are eager to prove that they still can beat the younger girls in the tournament. They just have to get past each other first.

“Ana hasn’t fought in a year, while I’ve kept busy,” Karolina tells the press. “I’m looking forward to beating her and moving on in the tournament.”

Barros laughs at her blonde foe. “I’m all fresh and ready to make a comeback to in-ring action. First, I’ll take down Karolina, and then I’ll continue to make my way through the other girls.”

Come fight night, Ana Beatriz Barros is the first girl to make her way to the ring. The Brazilian struts out and removes her robe to reveal a green lingerie set with yellow gloves, representing her county’s colors. Moments later, Karolina Kurkova makes her way to the ring, the Czech model wearing a blue bikini set with red gloves, also wearing her country’s colors. While both women usually tower over their opponents, at 5’11” each, they stare right into the other’s eyes. The referee separates the two and calls for the bell, and off we go for another ten rounds in the tournament!

Round 1:
Both tall models cautiously exit their respective corners and start circling each other, both 5’11” beauties jabbing at the other. Karolina lands the first strike, slipping her strike past Ana’s guard and catching the Brazilian in her face. Barros reels backwards before planting her feet and firing off a left that catches Kurkova in her ribs, but the brunette leaves herself open and gets slammed into the ropes by an overhand right. Barros clearly rusty in her first fight in a year, and Kurkova is making sure to take advantage of that rust. Karolina knocks Ana into the ropes with a body shot and she hits the Brazilian in her ribs with a pair of blows before Ana can clinch to get a break. The referee separates the two women and Barros lands the first strike out of the break, but that’s all she gets before the bell. The first round clearly goes to Kurkova on points, wide.

Round 2:
Kurkova starts the second round where she left off in the first, sticking the older model in her body. Barros stands her ground, counterpunching the blonde whenever she gets the opportunity. Karolina keeps up the strikes until Ana steps to her right and the brunette drives a right into Karolina’s face, slamming her blow past the Czech model’s guard. Ana follows up with a left to the blonde’s liver, drawing a gasp of pain from the younger girl. Kurkova now retreats as Barros chases after her, throwing lefts and rights, but the more experienced Kurkova sticks the brunette with a well-timed counter and forces Barros to back down. The two girls start to circle each other, both models feinting to see if they can get the other to fall for the fake, but they both stay disciplined to the bell. Barros takes the second round to even everything up on points.

Round 3:
Barros finds her rhythm to start the third and tags Kurkova in her right cheek to start the round before carefully advancing, sticking to simple left-right combos that start to overwhelm Kurkova as Ana shows off her strength. Karolina backs into the ropes as Ana digs a big right into the blonde’s ribs, and the more experienced Karolina has no choice but to clinch to force a break. Once the ref lets the fight resume, Kurkova is more cautious, smartly placing her jabs to keep Barros from getting too close to hammer her body. She sticks the Brazilian with a right that knocks Barros backwards, but when the Czech girl follows-up, Ana has already stepped out of the way and buries another strike into the blonde’s body. Karolina instinctively clinches, and time in the round comes to an end. Ana takes a second round in a row on points, wide, and the Brazilian appears to have shaken off the ring rust from her yearlong absence from the ring.

Round 4:
Barros hits her stride as she unleashes a barrage of blows into Kurkova’s body early. The blonde fires back with a wild right that gets the brunette model in her chest. Ana regains her footing and digs a right of her own into Karolina’s ribs, but the blonde is already moving and snaps Ana’s head to her left with a big right hook. The Brazilian staggers backwards with a blank look on her face as she stays up, but Kurkova pounces and drills a blow into the brunette’s solar plexus that doubles her over, only to snap the older model back upright with an uppercut. Barros is covering her face, but she’s grimacing as Kurkova hammers her battered body, focusing on her solar plexus. Karolina finds another direct shot and Ana yelps in pain, instinctively moving her arms down to protect her body. Kurkova sees it and crashes two rights into Barros’s jaw and the Brazilian goes down in a heap. The ref starts to count, but Ana’s barely moving her arms and legs by the time the ref gets to ten. Your winner by KO4, Karolina Kurkova!

After:
The Lioness girl takes her victory lap around the ring, arms raised and with plenty of energy as Barros’ year long break from fighting didn’t serve her well. As with before, the Czech stunner makes her way past the first round and into the second – but with her 2017 campaign, she ran into Barbara Palvin and lost, ending her hopes of becoming the top Victoria’s Secret fighter. When asked about her future in the tournament, Kurkova keeps her comments brief.

“Well, obviously it depends on who my opponent is,” the blonde says, “but I’m feeling good about it. Ana’s bigger than I am and is one of the biggest girls in the tournament, and I beat her, so I’m feeling good about my chances.”

Barros also has little to say, “I missed fighting, but I don’t miss losing. Karolina had me today, I wish her the best of luck in the tournament.”
