5. Nina Agdal vs Grace Elizabeth

Nina:

BEFORE:
"I made it to the quarterfinals in my last run. I'm aiming to do better this time, even if it means going through Aldridge to do it," Nina says haughtily from the press table. "Grace? She's nothing but an afterthought, and I plan on putting her away in five rounds.”

“She can try, but it’s clear that Nina’s underestimating me,” Grace responds from across the room. “She’s lost recently to a HOST of girls, including Jenner and Swift. Now, she will lose to me too.”

Ladies square off at the podium and it’s clear they think little of each other. Nina and Grace glare at each other with their hands on their hips, chins upturned and still spouting insults to their faces. Nina shakes one of her fists in Grace’s face, but the other blonde ain’t biting, merely rolls her eyes and shoves an open palm into the Vixen’s face. Wild brawl erupts as Nina lunges back with a punch but doesn’t manage to score before the two teams are pulled apart. It’s the first round of the War in Heaven tournament and there’s already fireworks!

Fight night and here both ladies strut down to the ring. Nina in a baby blue bikini, sparkling with diamonds as she waves to the crowds. This here’s a Victoria’s Secret event, after all! She’s done this catwalk thing before, and it shows. Nina’s costume is an elaborate set-up of crystalline angel wings attached to her back. Grace not to be outdone, entering the arena in a purple lingerie set, a peacock frock fluttering on her back and further incensing Agdal when it’s shaken in her face in the ring.

Referee calls the match to order, first asking the girls to shed their elaborate costumes. Their teams oblige, unlatching silver pins and metal braces from their backs before the ladies strap on their fighting gloves. Nina’s in a set of white gloves whilst Grace is in pink and white. Without the overbearing mechanism on their shoulders, both ladies are bouncing light on their toes, arms sweeping back and forth, ready to rumble.

There goes the bell and HERE we go with ten rounds of Lightweight action!

ROUND 1:
Nina gets to work, pounding on Grace’s guard with determination, as though she has little respect for the relative newcomer. Grace indeed showing hesitation in the first minute, wincing and letting out shouts of discontent whenever the veteran Vixen fires a one-two-three combo straight into her arms, occasionally fast or powerful enough to score on the newcomer’s face. Grace is in survival mode in this opening segment, moving backwards and sideways as fast as she can, but her head keeps getting snapped back by Nina’s aggressive attacks. Only in the third minute does Elizabeth come back alive, all of a sudden lunging at the Vixen with a wild hook, almost taking her head off on the spot if Nina hadn’t screeched to a halt and raised an arm in time. Still, it rattles Agdal enough to send her reeling, and Elizabeth all but pounces on her opponent at that point, returning the favour with one-two combos of her own sent in hard and practiced, scoring repeated on Nina’s body and arms and showing speed of her own as she snags the chin in the final seconds. Not the picture-perfect opening for either woman, and though Nina takes the round overall, she’d probably expected a more dominant showing.

ROUND 2:
Elizabeth continues her lucky streak, landing a haymaker to Nina’s arms in the opening seconds, which shocks and bothers the Vixen enough to make her stay away for the majority of the rest of the round. Nina grunts as that right hand comes screaming in, bangs into her raised arms but still knocking her back a couple of paces. In comes Elizabeth, looking to capitalise, the brunette showing the practiced grace of a newcomer model wanting to impress, clearly been in the gym these past few months as she hounds Nina with repeated combos. Nina shows surprising hesitancy at throwing down with the rookie, but maybe those punches shoved into her body over and over again have something to do with it, as Grace alternates her attacks low and high, again blasting Nina to her face with a final kiss to the lips in the last seconds, which throws her head back with a grunt.

ROUND 3:
What is going on, the VIX corner must be wondering, as their girl continues to get thrashed and bullied about the ring. Nina shows no interest in fighting back or pushing forth, earning herself a stern rebuke from Corey Saucier in the middle of the round. But the Vixen looks hella focused, breathing hard, her arms high and locked over the middle of her face. She lets out a grunt as Grace comes streaking in, a wide smirk on her face, ploughing another right hand straight into Agdal’s tummy to send the rest of her body throbbing backwards. Nina’s protecting her face but that toned body is taking a stern beating, but there’s some light at the end of the tunnel in the final minute, when Nina begins shocking Grace back with counter-jabs driven into her chin, wiping that smirk off the brunette’s face to close the round.

ROUND 4:
And here Nina comes! Not as aggressive as some of her past fights, but slow and steady wins the race (hopefully) as she makes Grace pay for her arrogance. Elizabeth already thinking she’s won this, comes in fast and confident and throws punches in Nina’s direction at the sound of the bell, only to get rudely surprised when Agdal weaves around a slow hook that was aimed at her face before planting one of her own straight into the side of her cheek. Ouch! Grace shocked with her mouth hanging open, but continues to press her luck, throwing wild swing after wild swing at the Vixen’s head, only to highlight her inexperience in counter-fighting, each time getting slapped across the face by Nina’s leather, or a crude shot to the base of her chin as Nina ends the measures with a snap uppercut. Suddenly, Elizabeth ain’t looking too hot, stumbling back with the weight of the world on her shoulders, falling back on her defences as Nina begins her counter-assault. Elizabeth is still working off her momentum, however, returning fire with long jabs to the face, relying on her slightly longer reach to stave the Vixen off for now.

ROUND 5:
Nina got that pep talk and it’s like she’s a different fighter here, streaking in fast and agile, avoiding Grace’s attacks with a cat-like grace, her head slipping in and out, left and right, not allowing herself to get caught by those off-target hooks and swings. Grace grows more and more frustrated, helpless as Nina blasts her to the arms with an upturned hook, the Vixen closing the distance fast and then going to work on her frame. End of the first minute and Elizabeth looks stunned to the spot when Nina scores another hook off her tummy, yet another straight cross driven into her chest to send her a wicked message of payback. Elizabeth’s in trouble, walking backwards with her arms wavering out in front. Nina with a step-in BLAST straight to the chin, and DOWN ELIZABETH GOES!! The contender’s left gobsmacked in the middle of the ring, arms and legs splayed out in an X, her chest rising and falling! This might be it!

Nina walks over her body with a distasteful nod, returning to the neutral corner to await the inevitable results. Referee’s got the decency to give her a full ten-count, and it’s a miracle that Grace is prying herself off her back, slowly willing her body back to standing, finally recovering by the skin-of-the-teeth 9! This round is set to continue, with two more minutes on the clock!

Gone is the fire from Elizabeth as she stumbles about on both feet. Nina’s coming in steadily, that smirk returning to her face as she resumes her punishment of the insolent brunette. A one-two combo sent to the nose, another drilled into her belly, the Vixen easily circumventing her foe’s wavering arms, allowing her to pick and choose her shots. Grace’s grunting, body lurching in all directions, another hook to the chin sends her spiraling off to the ropes, where she clings on for dear life. Nina with no mercy or hesitation, marching in and folding her over in half with another uppercut to the tummy, now just taunting Grace with a fist to her upturned chin, before blasting another side-winder into her shocked face. Referee has finally seen enough, leaps in to pull Nina off her battered foe! It’s OVER just like that!

Official Decision: Nina Agdal defeats Grace Elizabeth via TKO5!

AFTER:
Nina ungracious in victory, already returning to her corner to get the congratulatory pat on the shoulder from Corey Saucier. She had some trouble in the first few rounds but came back with a vengeance, unexpectedly putting away Elizabeth in the fifth round.

“I warned her she was going down,” Nina later says to reporters by ringside, not even giving Grace the time of the day in the immediate post-fight. “I’m already looking forward to beating up Lily in the next round. That’s assuming she wins.”

Back in the ring, Grace is taking a little more time acclimatising to the sitting position, arms hugging her body and head just swaying left and right from a possible concussion. She started off strong, but ultimately came up short against the veteran Vixen. Later backstage, she has an ice pack planted to her face as reporters try to squeeze in their questions.

“We’ll meet again, I’m sure. Maybe after I get a few more fights under my belt. I’ll say it again: Nina’s overrated. And you can be sure I’ll be rooting for Aldridge in the next round.
