7. Barbara Palvin vs Sofie Rovenstine

BEFORE:
“I haven’t heard of her till tonight,” Barbara says to reporters with a smirk. The Hungarian model is looking as ravishing as ever, her blonde hair flowing straight down her shoulders during the pre-fight press conference. “Sofia’s walked like… once or twice? She ain’t no veteran for the catwalk, and neither will she survive in the ring once we dance later.”

Sofie’s certainly an interesting character, a most recent addition to the Victoria’s Secret line-up and having made her debut when she was only 18 years old. A former Miss Tennessee Teen USA winner, the American redhead also has the height to impress, coming in a good 3-4 inches taller than Barbara at the podium.

Earlier, she speaks her mind, responding to Palvin’s earlier comments:

“I’m just happy to be invited this year. I keep getting these wonderful opportunities to show the world what I’m capable of, and entering the War in Heaven tournament will also mark my debut to the FCBA world. I hope to continue to impress!”

What Barbara lacks in height, however, she’s gonna try to make up for in terms of raw power and experience, the Hungarian beauty having trouble keeping her winning ambitions alive after an early victory against Lindsay Ellington back in February.

Fight night and Barbara is first to make her appearance in the arena, wearing a white and black-patterned bra and briefs set complete with an orange scarf tied around her neck, which flutters and flies behind like a superheroine cape as she catwalks down the aisle.

Sophie has gone for an equally colourful ensemble, a one-piece swimsuit that ends with a ballerina’s pink frock around her waistline. She’s sporting a bright red necktie that sways and sashays about behind her.

Ladies square off one last time in the center of the ring, and Sofie’s smiling wide, still just happy to be here, though Barbara looks like she wants to tear that grin off the rookie’s face. Referee signals for the bell and HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Lightweight action!

ROUND 1:
Sofie’s clearly more than just a pretty face, packing both bulk and height to hammer the first couple of punches straight in Barbara’s bewildered arms, the rookie Rovenstine been practicing for her debut these past few months and not afraid to show her opponent what she knows. Barbara is surprised by the new girl’s aggression, having trouble getting her own shots in as Sofie gets in her face and immediately starts swinging away, using her raised arms to absorb most of the early attacks. Rovenstine going for broke early, unchecked enthusiasm enabling her to score a hook into the side of the head, another hard thump to the belly that pushes Palvin back, the Hungarian fighter left breathing hard and trying to establish her own space with jabs sent back to disrupt Sofie’s shutout round.

ROUND 2:
Sofie roars in again, eager to push her advantage. She’s been the dominant fighter thus far, punishing Barbara with her power shots, but once Palvin gets a hang and rhythm of her attacks, she’s having more difficulty actually landing on her opponent. Palvin’s been around the block and back, forced to eat humble pie on countless other occasions. She weaves deftly around one of Sofie’s wild hooks, which sails overhead, before sensing an opening and taking it! Sofie still mid-swing as her face gets BASHED in from the side, that look of horror in her widened eyes as the big redhead lets out a bigger grunt and goes stumbling backwards, in shock at actually taking the first big punch of her career! Palvin buries more shots across her stunned face, showing power of her own as she drives the newcomer back across the ring, showing little mercy as her punches ring out throughout the arena - AND THAT’S IT!! SOFIE GETS FLOORED TO HER SIDE after a fourth SMASH to the side of her head!! It’s a BRUTAL FLASH KO2 victory for the Hungarian Sensation!! Sofie’s completely laid out in the middle of the ring!

Official Decision: Barbara Palvin defeats Sofie Rovenstine via KO2!

AFTER:
Hole sh*t! What a debut and what a comeback for either girl! What seemed like a promising start for Rovenstine quickly turned into a nightmare scenario, with the big redhead looking like a spent Barbie doll in the center of the ring, her eyes closed and mouth breathing in deep gulps of air. The medics are quick to rush to her aid, but not Palvin, who kisses her gloves before raising them high into the air in celebration.

“I don’t think she belongs here, do you?” Palvin shouts into the microphone later, earning loud cheers from her fans in the arena. “I’m headed to the very top, and I want all you there with me!”

Perhaps Barbara might be a late bloomer indeed. She faces either Kroes or Garrn in the next round of matches, but if her treatment of Sofie was any indication, another Welterweight competitor ain’t about to scare her away!
