RED HOT SUMMER AT THE ASYLYM IV: THIS TIME IT'S PERSONAL

BEFORE:
"This girl," says Holland with a shake of the head, "Is what infuriates me about the FCBA. A Disney brat with no discernable talent, and she's in a stable getting taken care of, and I've been struggling as an indie for half a decade. Well. Tonight, I'm going to show that THIS emperor has no clothes..."

"I'm sorry Holland has had a rough go in the FCBA," says a hard-eyed Meg. "But, I've EARNED everything I've gotten at Front Street...as she's about to find out."

ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Mountain Man' by Crash Kings, one of the favorites of the lovely redhead on her way to the ring, Holland Roden!"

McCarthy: "Now, last time she was here, you all pointed out that she has an FCBA win. Well, that didn't make a difference against Stewart, but, against THIS Dancing Hooker..."

O'Dell: "Holland into the ring and helped off with the robe. She's looking in shape in that silver bikini we've seen before. And, that's 'BAAM' you hear pounding through the arena, and here comes the singer of that tune, 'The Peapack Punisher', Meg Donnelly!"

Cassie: "Meg right now in the fourth slot in a four-woman flyweight division at Front Street. But, that says more about our other three flys than Donnelly, who's done some good work for us..."

O'Dell: "Meg into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve, and she's looking good in that yellow number she likes..."

Tess: "And, looking like all business, too. The familiar smile missing right now..."

O'Dell: "Ladies about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Meg. Mac?"

McCarthy: "ONE FCBA win becomes two, and this Dancing Hooker will be on her way OUT..."

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "First split panel of the night. Let's see who's right. And Roden immediately forward, pressuring Donnelly, but Meg working the jab and the feet, moving well, creating the space she wants with that left hand. Holland following a similar playbook to the one we saw from Evan in the first fight..."

Cassie: "And the one we've seen from Roden before..."

O'Dell: "And, clearly, the blonde was ready for it. Meg working the feet, snapping that jab, making things difficult on the redhead. Roden trying to close, able to do it here and there and get some work done, but, mostly, it's Donnelly who's getting the terms she wants..."

Tess: "And, that's making all the difference."

O'Dell: "Indeed it is. Down the stretch we come and Meg's built a solid lead in this stanza. Roden continuing to work, having her moments, but not enough of them. Five seconds to go. Good right from Donnelly, and there's the bell. No doubt about it in the first. Meg and wide."

ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Roden dialing the aggression back a bit now. She's still working forward, looking to get physical, but, now she's angling, moving the head and hands more. Meg continuing to work the feet, get the jab on, put punches together well. But, now the redhead's getting consistently to her spots..."

McCarthy: "And, we've got a competitive round as a result."

O'Dell: "To this point, anyway, we do. Roden getting the better of things at times, when she's able to get inside, while the blonde's scoring more at range. And, it's that back and forth that's giving us a solid, two-way round at the moment, not a lot in it right now..."

Tess: "And a lot of good work from both fighters."

O'Dell: "Definitely good, sound stuff as we head down the stretch. Sharp exchange there as Holland backs up Meg, then steps to and does it again. Donnelly moving laterally, getting the jab working. Five seconds to go. One more exchange and there's the bell. Close. Roden."

Cassie: "And, we're even at 19."

ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Into the third now and some adjustments from Donnelly. She's giving a little ground, using the drop step, working the jab even harder, doing all she can to create that space she wants, and it's working. She's again got Holland taking fire as she tries to close and finding little success doing it."

McCarthy: "Roden just needs to keep at it. Keep working. She'll find ways forward."

O'Dell: "Not doing it right now. Meg's got the distance she wants and she's taking advantage, getting off in combination again and again. Redhead having some moments, like she did in the first, but, that's all the are. The rest of the time its the blonde who's getting much the better of things."

Cassie: "Just watching this, you can see how much Meg's improved in the time she's been here, the way she adjusts, the way she handles things."

O'Dell: "Down under twenty seconds in the third, and Donnelly's been in control the whole way. She's moving well, jabbing well, playing the geometry perfectly. Ten seconds to go. Quick flurry from Meg forces Holland to cover up and there's the bell. No doubt in the third. Donnelly. Wide."

Tess: "And, Meg leads again, 29-28."

ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Roden upping the ante as we start the fourth. She's driving forward now behind that left hand, working in, crowding the blonde, working head, body, head. Meg unable to get the space she wants at the moment, as Holland's just all OVER her and it's making a big difference..."

McCarthy: "Donnelly spending too much time backing up. In the rounds she won, she was moving laterally. Now, she's moving back."

O'Dell: "Which is exactly where the redhead wants her. Holland getting VERY physical in there, as Meg covers up, ties up, tries to slow this down. Roden not having it, though, shoving the blonde off and going right back to work. Ladies tie up again, and this time the ref breaks them..."

Tess: "Meg out of sorts right now."

O'Dell: "No doubt about it. Redhead is having it ALL her way. We're down to ten seconds to go in the fourth. SHARP exchange there and both fighters landed a solid right hand and there's the bell. No doubt about this one. The redhead takes it and very, very wide, too."

Cassie: "And, we're even again, this time at 38."

ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Roden right back at it. Pouring through the blonde's defenses, getting very physical once she gets inside. Meg banging back in there now, hooking head and body, playing this game on her rival's terms, perhaps because she's being forced to do that at the moment..."

Cassie: "And, doing it pretty well."

O'Dell: "Definitely giving as good as she gets on the inside, banging away with short hooks and uppercuts. Lots of hard leather landing and MEG ROCKS RODEN WITH A RIGHT HOOK! Holland's legs do a shimmy and the blonde lets the hands go and DOWN GOES RODEN!"

Tess: "Left uppercut!"

O'Dell: "Roden splashed to her back. Donnelly to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Roden rolling to her belly at six. Seven. Not going to happen. Holland trying to push to all fours and can't get it done. Nine. TEN! It's OVER! The count passes the redhead by and it's OVER! And, your winner by KO5 is 'The Peapack Punisher', Meg Donnelly!"

McCarthy: "LUCKY!"

AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"

Tess: "I have our winner, Meg Donnelly, and, Meg, things got very physical in there..."

Meg (nodding): "I'm not surprised. That's the way she likes to fight, and she's effective doing it. But, even if I don't get my way in there, I can find ways to win. And, I found one."

Tess: "Lots of rumors that there may be roster changes around here at the end of the year. Does that worry you?"

Meg (shaking her head): "Not at all. All you have to do to stick around here is to keep working hard and getting results. And, that's JUST what I'm going to do."
