BEFORE:
"It's good to be back," says Brittany with a shake of the head. "It's NOT good that I can't get more than one fight a year. That's RIDICULOUS. But, after I get a 'W' tonight, maybe that will change!"
"She can fight," says Meg with a nod. "And, she ought to be getting more than one fight a year. But. She's NOT coming out on top tonight."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that's 'Time of the Season' by Ben Taylor, a song that was used in the 2008 film "Prom Night", and here comes the star of that film, the lovely Brittany Snow!"
McCarthy: "And, like I say every time this girl shows up, she actually HAS FCBA wins, so I'm not sure how she gets booked here..."
O'Dell: "Snow into the ring and helped off with the robe. And, she's looking very good in that cobalt blue number we've seen before. And, that's 'BAAM' you hear behind us, and that can only mean that the singer of that song, 'The Peapack Punisher', Meg Donnelly, is on her way to the ring!"
Tess: "And, as we've seen, changes are not just coming but happening here at Front Street. Donnelly's a girl who's done well, but is still at the bottom of the flyweight pecking order. She definitely wants to get a result tonight..."
O'Dell: "Meg into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. And, the crowd pops for Donnelly in that yellow number we've seen before..."
McCarthy: "Philly. Low standards..."
Cassie: "She's young enough to be your daughter and her wrinkled butt isn't sporting a tattoo of a crown, so..."
McCarthy: "YOU LITTLE..."
O'Dell: "Now, calm DOWN, Mac! The ladies are about ready and it's time for some picks. Tess likes Donnelly. Mac?"
McCarthy: "Snow has wins! Brittany!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Split panel to start the evening and Snow all about making Mac look prescient..."
McCarthy: 'Now, I'm brilliant, but I'm not sure I'm ever going to be PRESIDENT. Although...who knows? I MIGHT run..."
O'Dell (sighing): "Older woman pressuring the younger early, backing up Donnelly with solid right hands and ROCKING HER WITH A SOLID RIGHT! Meg wobbled and DROPPED with a blazing flurry from the older blonde! Snow STALKING to a neutral corner while Donnelly sits, wide eyed, staring at the referee..."
Cassie: "That was a heck of a right..."
O'Dell: "Count at three. Four. Five. Six. Meg to hands and knees. Seven. Eight. Donnelly to her feet. Ref going to give her the mandatory and waves on Snow! Brittany letting the hands go, backing up the younger woman, pinning her to the ropes and letting the hands go..."
Tess: "Ref watching very closely..."
O'Dell: "Sure is, but Meg firing back in spots, keeping the hands up, rolling with some punches, blocking others. She's handling this pretty well, definitely showing some of the experience she's gained during nearly two years at Front Street. And, there's the bell. Donnelly rides it out. But. Snow's got the 10-8 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Snow coming forward, aggressive. Donnelly giving ground, playing defense, still a bit unsure of the legs. Brittany looking to finish here, but, barring that, she'll definitely take the clean up, and, at the moment, she's effecting a pretty solid one, as she's piling up the points early..."
McCarthy: "Well, Weirdo's already got ONE opening on his roster. When Donnelly loses this one, it will be TWO."
Tess: "I HATE to agree with Mac..."
McCarthy: "HEY!"
Tess: "But, everybody's pretty much on notice as Front Street makes decisions about Front Street 3.0..."
O'Dell: "Snow pressing. But, smartly. She's not taking any unnecessary chances that might give Donnelly an easy way back into this fight. It's good, veteran stuff from Brittany, as she's gained complete control of this thing, executing her fight plan perfectly in the second..."
Cassie: "It's early, though. Very early."
O'Dell: "That it is. But, not in the second. We're down to about fifteen seconds. Snow a good combination. Donnelly giving ground, hands up, moving much better than she was at the beginning of the round. SHARP exchange there with both fighters landing some good shot and there's the bell. Snow. Wide. And she leads 20-17 after two."
ROUND THREE:
O'Dell: "Donnelly showing plenty of movement as we start the third. She's using the legs, moving laterally, giving some ground here, slipping forward there, creating problems as Snow tries to locate with the jab and move forward behind it. This reminds me a little of the tactics we saw the last time Brittany was here..."
Tess: "But, while Meg moves very well, she does NOT move as well as my BFF..."
McCarthy: "I'm about to lose my lunch..."
Cassie: "Which will go nicely with all those FIGHTS you've lost..."
McCarthy: "YOU LITTLE..."
O'Dell: "Now, calm DOWN ladies and let's keep our eye on the ring. There's a pretty good fight happening in there right now. Donnelly moving, jabbing, slipping in to land a combination here and there. Snow working the left. When she gets it on, she can follow with hard right hands..."
Cassie: "And, that's what it's about right now. Brittany getting the jab ON and Meg slipping it..."
O'Dell: "Absolutely. Final seconds ticking away in a good, two-way third round. Meg on the move, slips the jab, lands a three-punch combination and there's the bell. And, for the first time in the bout, it's a close round. Donnelly going to grab the points, though, getting herself on the board..."
McCarthy: "But, she's STILL down 29-27."
ROUND FOUR:
O'Dell: "Donnelly getting her box on as we start the fourth. Snow wants to come forward, but, once again, Meg limiting those opportunities, slipping that jab, getting to spots and getting off in combination. At other times, though, Brittany IS getting the left on, and, it's a different story when she does..."
Tess: "Sure is. When Snow locates, she's able to get physical, back Meg up."
O'Dell: "Definitely about terms right now, with both fighters getting some but not as much of what they want. Good flurry by Snow there, backs Meg up. Donnelly slips to her right, gets back to moving, stops, pops with a solid combination of her own, including a right that was the best punch she's thrown in the fight."
McCarthy: "Snow not hurt, though..."
O'Dell: "She is not. And, she's not cowed, either. She's continuing to stay aggressive, stay after the younger woman, while Meg works the feet, showing excellent athleticism and hand speed as the final seconds tick away in the fourth. There's the bell. Close again. Donnelly."
Cassie: "And, Meg's cut Brittany's lead to 38-37."
ROUND FIVE:
O'Dell: "Into the fifth and the pattern is now set. Snow continuing with the effective, sound aggression. She's all about coming forward, trying to get physical, while Meg looks to box, slipping that jab, dipping forward for a quick flurry before slipping away. It's good, tactical stuff from both fighters..."
Cassie: "NICE right from Meg!"
O'Dell: "Definitely was, and that got Brittany's attention. Donnelly not hanging around. She's back moving the feet. No jab and circle, just moving feet, head, hands, looking to box and slip that jab. Does it and ROCKS BRITTANY WITH ANOTHER RIGHT AND DOWN GOES SNOW!"
Tess: "That was a NASTY little hook!"
O'Dell: "Short and accurate and Brittany down on her back as Meg heads to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Snow to rolls to hands and knees at six. Seven. Eight. Trying to push to her feet and can't get it done! Nine. TEN! It's OVER! The count passes Brittany by and it's OVER! And your winner by KO5 is 'The Peapack Punisher', Meg Donnelly!"
McCarthy: "Lucky, because, if she'd have lost, she'd have been in the STREET!"
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Meg Donnelly, and Meg, rough start..."
Meg (nodding): "Yeah. She came after me and got me a good one. But, in the corner, Neve and Jewel kept saying, 'It's OK. You can handle this. Just settle down and work the plan.' And, that's what I did."
Tess: "It's been a pretty good year for you so far..."
Meg (smiling): "Yeah, and it's not over yet. And, before you ask, I ABSOLUTELY plan to be here NEXT year. Count on it!"
