BEFORE:

"Katy's a girl I've always wanted to fight, frankly," says Lauren with a smile. "She's rugged, hits hard, athletic. Just like ME. So, ring the bell and let's see what happens!"

"She's physical," says Katy with a nod. "Definitely can hit and take a punch. But, she's never been in with someone who hits like ME."

ROUND ONE:

O'Dell: "Back at ringside, and that's..."

McCarthy: "AWFUL! Just AWFUL! Why does Weirdo subject my olfaction to stuff like this every month! I'll SUE! I'll SUE!"

O'Dell (sighing): "'The Parting Glass', by the lovely young lady coming to ringside, Lauren Cohan!"

Tess: "Cohan is a Philly girl, so it's fitting that she's making her first FCBA appearance since 2015 here at Asylum..."

O'Dell: "Lauren into the ring and helped off with the robe, and she's looking good in that lime green number if the crowd reaction is any indication..."

McCarthy: "Philly. Low standards!"

O'Dell: "Aaannnddddd, that's 'California Gurls' you hear behind us, and here comes the singer of that tune, 'The Santa Barbara Slugger', Katy Perry!"

Cassie: "Katy one of the fighters on the roster most affected by some of the coming changes, as she's definitely got the size and power to fight welter and she's JMDD qualified as well..."

O'Dell: "Perry into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve to reveal that red number we've seen before. And, it's about time for some picks. Tess likes Katy. Mac?"

McCarthy: "Cohan HAS an FCBA win, but she's from Philly and this place SUCKS. Perry!"

O'Dell: "Cassie?"

Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"

O'Dell: "And, we're underway. Cohan setting up the gun platform and going to work. She's getting the jab on early, keeping it in Perry's face, making Katy fight on the outside. Front Streeter can DO that, but it's not what she WANTS to do right now, as she's clearly trying to work in..."

McCarthy: "Cohan doing a good job with pace."

O'Dell: "Definitely is. Keeping that left going. Not slowing down. And, it's working in a major way. Perry can't get much going here, not getting to her spots. Instead, the older woman's calling the tune, and she's definitely enjoying the music here in the opening stanza. Katy, meanwhile, wants to change the station..."

Cassie: "That's pretty good stuff, Jenny O!"

McCarthy: "Flattery will get you NOWHERE, twerp..."

O'Dell: "Heading into the final seconds of the first, and Cohan's had control the entire way. She's kept Perry at bay with that left hand and scored plenty in combination. GOOD right from Katy there and that was her best punch of the night so far, but, too little, too late. There's the bell and it's Lauren wide."

Tess: "And, Cohan grabs the 10-9 lead."

ROUND TWO:

O'Dell: "Major adjustment from Perry here. Katy going to go ahead and go gun platform with her fellow brunette and we're seeing a completely different dynamic now. Rather than Lauren in control, we're seeing good, two-way stuff, with Katy giving as good as she's getting..."

McCarthy: "What do you know? Maybe Dancing Hookers CAN learn..."

Cassie: "Well, none of us Front Streeters will ever be as smart as YOU, Mac, but we're trying..."

McCarthy: "Of COURSE you won't, because I'm the Noble Lauren Bacall of the FCBA and everyone knows that!"

Tess: "Noble Lauren..."

Cassie: "Nobel Laureate, BFF..."

Tess: "Wow...that was almost completely unintelligible...."

McCarthy: "What ARE you two babbling about?"

Cassie: "Just talking about how SMART you are, Mac!"

McCarthy: "Well, that IS something we need to discuss MORE around here..."

O'Dell (sighing): "Coming down the stretch in what's been a very even second round. Good exchange there as both brunettes land solid shot. Perry jabbing, Cohan jabbing with. Five seconds to go. And, there's the bell. Nothing at all in it this stanza. Even round."

Cassie: "And, that leaves Lauren up a point, 20-19."

ROUND THREE:

O'Dell: "Back to ranged warfare in the third. Cohan and Perry exchanging jabs, dropping in right hands off those, building nice combinations. No one gaining much of an advantage, though, as both brunettes have shown they can fight and fight well on these terms..."

Cassie: "This is impressive stuff from Cohan. Katy's a former lightweight champion, ranked in the Top Ten, and Lauren's hanging with her very well."

O'Dell: "Is at that. She's one of those girls that you wonder, what kind of a career she could have had if she'd have gotten good management in or before her prime. I suspect she'd have won her share of FCBA fights, because, as you point out, Cassandra Lynn, she's acquitting herself very well against a top lightweight right now..."

McCarthy: "Can we STOP singing the praises of this tomato can?"

O'Dell: "Into the final seconds of a very competitive third. Perry stepping forward, landing a couple of solid shots that back up Lauren and Cohan fires back with a SOLID right hand that takes us to the bell. Very, very close for the second round in a row, but this time, Perry gets the points."

Tess: "And, we're even at 29."

ROUND FOUR:

O'Dell: "Cohan winging away as we start, backing Perry up. Katy looking a little buzzed and I'm wondering if she got hurt by that last right hand from Lauren! Cohan surely thinks so, and she's taking full advantage, taking the fight to the younger woman and now backing her into the ropes..."

McCarthy: "Now's the time to FINISH this Dancing Hooker!"

O'Dell: "That's exactly what Lauren is looking to do! She's throwing everything she has at her fellow brunette as the ref looks in closely. Katy jabbing back in spots, keeping the guard high, but she's taking an absolute SHELLACKING from Cohan right now, as Lauren piles up the points and the hurt..."

Tess: "Lauren getting a TON of work done."

O'Dell: "Definitely is. We're down under thirty seconds in the round, though, so Cohan's running out of time to finish this thing. Perry in a high guard, blocking, rolling with. Lauren pushing, pushing, but there's the bell and Perry's still standing. No doubt about the cards, though. Shutout, Cohan."

Cassie: "And Lauren leads 39-38."

ROUND FIVE:

O'Dell: "Cohan pressing again to start the fifth, Katy giving some ground, countering in spots, seems like she's getting those legs back under her...and Lauren sensing that and going right back to the gun platform stuff. Perry willing to fight on these terms, and we've gone right back to where we were in the third..."

Cassie: "That's good, veteran stuff from Lauren. She could see right away that Katy's basically recovered...so she stopped pressing."

O'Dell: "But, she hasn't stopped working and working hard. She's getting the jab out, following up, putting punches together like she has the entire fight...but, so is Katy. Perry giving as good as she gets again, just like she did prior to the fourth. Getting both jabs and power shots on target..."

Tess: "This is pretty good stuff from both fighters right now..."

O'Dell: "No doubt about it. And, down the stretch we come with both brunettes remaining active, working hard, scoring with both hands. Ten seconds to go. Sharp exchange and then another and then ANOTHER to take us to the bell. Very, very close, but Perry gets the points."

McCarthy: "And evens things up again, 48-48."

ROUND SIX:

O'Dell: "Sixth begins the way the fifth ended. Ladies boxing at range. Both putting punches together well. Moving feet, heads, hands, setting up punches all while playing good defense. And, despite being in the second half of the fight and both of these ladies being well over 30, nobody slowing down..."

McCarthy: "Nothin' but a number, as I keep telling you!"

O'Dell: "Nice combination by Cohan there, and Perry responds, backing Lauren up a step. Cohan back to working the jab, getting it in Katy's face over and over again. Really good stuff from the older woman and DOWN SHE GOES! Oh, what a straight right hand from Katy!"

Tess: "Might not get up from that..."

O'Dell: "Perry to a neutral corner. Count at three. Four. Five. Lauren sitting up at six. Seven. Eight. Cohan to her feet. Lauren takes the mandatory and the ref waves on Katy! Perry quickly battering the older woman back into the ropes and ROCKING her with a right hand and THE REF LEAPS IN! It's OVER! And your winner by TKO6 is 'The Santa Barbara Slugger', Katy Perry!"

Cassie: "Heck of a fight!"

AFTER:

O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Cassie Scerbo!"

Cassie: "I have our winner, Katy Perry, and, Katy, that was no walk in the park..."

Katy: "Didn't expect it to be. She can fight and she's physical. But, I'm the better fighter, so it was just a matter of time."

Cassie (smiling): "Couple of retirements at Front Street in the past few months. This is the last day of 2021...Front Street 3.0 starts tomorrow. Anything you want to announce?"

Katy: "Damn right. I'll BE here in 2022, and I'll be looking at regaining the lightweight belts and maybe fighting on the beach and JMDD and the Ice Hotel, too!"
