Rachel Brosnahan vs Abigail Breslin

By: Celebff / Results: Lookout!

Rachel Brosnahan

31 / 5’3” / 3-0 / Global Boxing Syndicate

Abigail Breslin

25 / 5’1” / 9-3 / Free Punchers

Pre-Fight:

Brosnahan, when asked about fighting after nearly a year between bouts: “Yeah it’s been weird… I certainly would have liked more fights but it just hasn’t happened. Not a lot of challenges coming my way. But this is a chance to make a statement on a PPV card. So that’s what I’m planning to do.”

Breslin, when asked about taking on an unfamiliar opponent, “Well I don’t have a ton of fights under my belt so a lot of opponents would be unfamiliar. But yeah, not a lot of tape on her. To be honest… I LOVE Rachel. As an actress. As a person. It’ll be great to get in the ring with her, but she’s someone who regardless of the result I hope gets some more opportunities!”

R1:

The blonde Breslin in white, the brunette Brosnahan in pink, the two touch gloves and the fight is on.

Not a lot of tape on Brosnahan, so Breslin tries to simply ease into the fight. A few skirmishes in the round, but nobody lands anything major for the first two minutes. Breslin does hit a nice couple of jabs that open Rachel up. But Brosnahan responds with a quick uppercut to the blonde before she can close the gap. As the round ends it’s a close round, but Breslin does just a bit more to take it.

Breslin up 10-9.

R2:

The flirting continues for the first minute of round two. Neither boxer really gets too close. Brosnahan is a little weary of Breslin’s power. Breslin doesn’t want to get caught flat footed with Rachel’s good hand speed.

Eventually though Rachel starts to find a little something. She begins to work her jab through Abigail’s guard and walks the blonde back. Breslin goes for a clinch. They break apart and Rachel continues to show off some tremendous hand speed with combos that are really marking Abigail’s face up.

The blonde has to raise her guard, which lets Rachel start working the body. A few quick hooking blows to the ribs and Abigail is doubled over. The bell rings as Rachel looked excellent that round while Breslin twinges in pain as she walks back to her corner.

19-19.

R3:

Rachel’s quick hands are doing a number on Abigail early in the round, but a nice duck and a counter uppercut has Brosnahan staggerin backwards. Breslin presses forward. She lands combos to a reeling Rachel.

The brunette is up against the ropes, guard high as Breslin swings away. Rachel is able to dodge a right and follows up with a right of her own that hits the blonde on the jaw. Breslin is forced to back off and that gives Rachel a lane to escape towards the center of the ring.

The two boxers start throwing combos at each other in the middle of the ring. Rachel’s punches are landing at a 2:1 rate, but one right hand from Abigail sends the brunette staggering back again. Breslin on the hunt. She hits Rachel with a left. Then she sinks two blows into her abdomen. The bell rings and despite Brosnahan landing more punches, Breslin clearly did much more damage.

29-28 Breslin.

R4:

Abigail gets a bit too aggressive early on and misses on a big right hook that Rachel ducks. She counters with a straight right to the nose that snaps the blonde’s head back. She’s in trouble!!!

Rachel with a right that lands on the jaw. She ducks a left hook and sneaks an uppercut that puts Abigail in the corner. Breslin forced to cover up as Rachel goes to town. She’s marking the smaller blonde with furious combos.

The Free Puncher is able to work her way into a clinch and push her way out of the corner. When they’re broken apart Breslin goes defense mode again and waits for Rachel to get sloppy. Brosnahan leaves herself open on the left and Abigail sneaks in a right hand that dazes the brunette. Breslin starts to work the body, but before she can get anything going the bell rings.

Brosnahan takes the round and ties it up, 38-38.

R5:

The two fighters settle into the middle of the ring. Rachel’s hands are fast and continuing to rack up points, but they aren’t doing much damage to Abigail. The blonde takes a deep breath and wades through the flurry.

She then ducks a left, snaps her hips, and sends a left uppercut that floors Brosnahan!!! Rachel goes down in a heap!!! She’s on her knees, but as she goes to stand she loses her balance and falls into the ropes! The ref counts her out!

WINNER VIA KO IN ROUND 5: ABIGAIL BRESLIN

Post-Fight:

After going over to check on Rachel to make sure she’s okay, Breslin goes to her corner and is engulfed with hugs by Claire Danes and Amy Smart. The two blondes help their young protege out of the ring as Rachel is treated by her corner.

Brosnahan, when asked about her first FCBA loss, “Yeah well you don’t get to take a year off and just come back fully functional, I guess. It’s disappointing of course, but she’s got a hell of an uppercut. And she was really classy coming over to make sure I was okay. She’s a sweetheart, you know?”

Breslin, when asked about what it means being unbeaten with her new stable, “Yeah just… something is clicking right now. Um, obviously I’m being trained by an all time great in Claire. And Amy has been great too. Elyse has been very supportive as the other flyweight in the stable. It’s just… I feel like I’ve started to turn a corner.”
