Champion Demi Rose vs Selena Gomez

Before: Selena strangely a perennial dark horse in the FCBA. She’s got a record in this, her 65th fight, that will put her comfortably in the Hall of Fame sometime in 2025, and yet this also only her second title fight in her career. And it’s isn’t as if she’s fighting a Front Street schedule. Thorne, Mitchell, Olsen, Bellisario, Lilly, Chopra; those are just some of the names on her dancecard the last two years.

The same cannot be said for Demi Rose. She made her FCBA debut in June of 2017 and had received a JMD title shot by November. She’s held a title every year of her career so far, and she shows no sings of slowing down!

Ringposts in sand setup. Selena enters with a royal blue with red, yellow and orange pattern paint one-piece, hair back in a battle pony, white gloves. Demi in an ultra-mixed pattern paint bikini. Hair loose down to her famous butt, black gloves. Fighters barefoot in the sand.

R1: Demi dukes up, aggressively in behind a stubby jab: Selena relaxed in the pocket, weaving poke and answering stubby left check-uppercuts to Champ's chin in trade. Gomez flashes right/left handspeed to Rose’s gut, hooks tits while keeping right tight to temple. Demi scowls, shoots a left to left shoulder; clubs a right at her head, Selena weaving in the pocket, straightens up out of crouch while dragging right hand to belly. Back and forth - nice high work rate at close range; no clinching; elbows in; forms compact. Rose busier as Gomez basically timing counters, Champ working fight to ropes and outworking Selena hup-hup-hup to bell.

R2: Energetic little rumblers get close without smothering: hands up, elbows in, active bobbing and dipping in the pocket. Demi busier; Selena calmer - finding the chin again and again via slip-and-counter uppercuts from either hand. Chippy little touches well handled by Rose's curvy legs, but Gomez expertise on show in the second as she keeps things midring denies Champ the banging runs she needs.

R3: Demi pressing, grunting and gasping with exertion: Selena calm in the pocket, fighting economically. Gomez dippin' and slippin' - bobbing then coming up with left or right uppercuts off that front (left) plant-leg...she's ringing Rose up little nibblers - nothing dramatic, but it's good, stout, consistent contact. By the middle minute, Demi starts to unravel - realizing she's taken one too many shots...she backs off looking flustered. Selena stalks Rose to ropes, but finds a willful little brawler there: Champ baring teeth, slugging from her hips and outpunching Gomez as contenders open up, both hoping to finish strong.

R4: Demi stubby-jabbing Selena out of the crouch, negotiating fight to ropes: Rose moves in with top of her head on Challenger's chest and we're back in the trenches. Holding and hitting by Demi - her left arm snaking in under Selena's right - sometimes even grabbing the ropes, or curling the hand up and around to grip at challenger's shoulder. Meanwhile, pumping right hands continue laying siege to Gomez gut - just thick, thudding single shots plowing in every few seconds as girls jostle and strain for position. Demi coming off body to clout jaw every once in a while: Selena looking ragged, taking a beating here. Gomez answering back left hands to Rose's midsection or breasts in spots, but it's mostly Champ atop Challenger, digging. Bell: Demi continues to invest in tummy - ref has to pull her away as Selena slumps against ropes, hugging her battered body.

R5: Selena working behind the jab - showing the hesitation right - pivoting round either flank. Demi bobbing/weaving/turning - mitts curled into hollows of her cheeks as she follows Gomez around. Selena just too cute - pushing Demi behind either elbow to turn her; shoe-shine smokescreens; fish-hook uppercuts picking Champ's head up; body lather; slap-chop to jug. Bell: Gomez demurely back to her corner as though she hadn't just shut out one of the best pressure fighters of her generation.

R6: Demi once again sees Selena's ante and raises her--coming out with renewed vigor, bobbing and weaving her way in, using her hips to torque her hooks. Gomez forced toe to toe with Rose again--misses over the top by an inch as Champ bobs, then hooks, finishing up with clouting right hand that has effectively closed Selena's left eye at this point. Smash mouth boxing wanders to the ropes--Demi shoving and slugging effectively to the bell.

R7: Demi reading Selena’s hook, interrupts the flow with a poking straight right, then CLOBBERS challenger’s chin flush with a crashing hook out of the crouch--GOMEZ GOES DOWN! Selena scooting to a stop on her backside, gets painfully to her feet and doesn’t look right as Demi hops up and down in the neutral corner. After 8, it’s rampaging Rose assault, Gomez bullied into the ropes, Champ pushing and palming at her girl, reefing to the body and head with hooks, punching straight right hands in underneath. Selena getting rag dolled as the beating goes on and on and on. Bashing lefts up underneath the ribs dislodge Gomez’s mouthpiece from sleepy lips--brunette stares glassy-eyed as the champion piles on. Demi just standing Selena up and working her over with the right hand and THE REF STEPS IN! It’s over--a trembling Gomez lolling helplessly in the ref’s arms as Rose jumps around the ring in celebration—TKO7 for the Winner and STILL Bantamweight Champion, DEMI ROSE!

After: Demi charitable in victory, coming over to check on Selena in her corner, giving her a big hug. Gomez comes up empty again, despite the first half dominance, but at five years between title fights does she have time to make the third time the charm?
