Saaya Irie challenges Layla

This is Saaya's first match in months, and she is eager to make it a victory.

R1: Layla's performance seems to preclude a victory for Saaya. She pushes the Japanese back to the ropes with overwhelming force then holds her there despite Saaya's best efforts. The round goes to Layla by a large margin.

R2: Saaya Takes it back by going under Layla's guard, focusing her blows on the stomach - being short is an advantage after all. This round goes to Saaya.

R3: Layla remains unadjusted to fighting someone with such a short stature, and going low to boot. The round again goes to Saaya by a wide margin.

R4: Layla catches Saaya on the head early on, and it allows her to take advantage, having disoriented the smaller girl. This round goes to Layla by a wide margin.

R5: Layla has learned to just go for the head, and this gives her the advantage. Every sign shows that the match would go to her, but Saaya would not give up, hanging in there by a thread.

R6: Saaya's tenacity pays off in round six, when Layla makes a mistake, swinging too hard and going over her opponent. Saaya takes the opportunity to slam a rising uppercut into Layla’s chin, taking her down. The older and much bigger woman doesn’t rise before ten, giving Saaya the victory.

Winner: Saaya Irie via KO6!
