Intro: We kick off the second round of this years Diamond Boxing tournament with Emma Corrin (1-0) looking to keep on the winning path, Lais Ribero (0-1) meanwhile is still seeking to get her first ever win in the squared circle.
Before the bout as usual with this tournament the fighters record a message about their thoughts on the tournament, along with ones about their upcoming fight, first on the stool was Emma wearing a blue dress with black heels, looking serious as she sits down.
"I am happy I got the first fight out the way with a win, Kate (Bock) was tough but I showed what I can do between those ropes, hopefully my opponents saw that, this tournament is a marathon of course so I am ready to get banged up to win it" says Emma with her eyes locked firmly on the camera, this tournament is all businesses for her.
She moves onto her opponent, saying "now I have Lais, who is going to be the easiest person in the field for me to beat, she hasn't impressed me or anyone for that matter, all she has is height on her side, so let's see how she does when I chop her down to size and add another loss to that record" Corrin with a hint of malice behind each of her words, standing up making sure to rub any creases out her dress before she leaves the set.
Lais meanwhile sits down wearing a white dress with black stripes up the sides to match her heels, sitting down on the stool, she admits "so my first fight didn't go to plan, I felt good in the early rounds, Charlotte showed she has some moves to hurt, I'll show her mine next time we share a ring together" pointing at the camera with her right index finger when she males that warning.
Now onto this fight, she tells the camera "I have to focus on your Emma, I have watched you and you look smooth in the ring, all that training you've been given looks impressive, I am betting once I land my punches and keep you at arms length, you'll regret quickly signing onto this tournament, I know I'm the underdog on paper, once I start knocking out people like you, the respect I deserve will come" Lais closing her right fist in a warning to her opponent, leaving the set with still some swagger to her step.
Fight night in Atlanta's State Farm Center, first through the curtain is Emma with Jeri Ryan following behind as her coach, Emma slowly walks to the ring, looking fully focused on the fight ahead as she stares at the ring, once inside it Emma bows to each side before settling in her corner, her attire consists of a navy blue sports bra, matching gloves and boots, navy blue trunks with her surname in silver letters, her hair tied into a ponytail.
Here comes Lais now pushing aside the curtain, she has her coach following behind as she blows kisses to the crowd, looking in a relaxed mood for someone still after a win, she steps through the ropes posing for her fans with arms in the air as she gives them a big beaming smile, her attire consists of a yellow sports bra with green trim, matching trunks and shoes, green gloves and her hair into a braid.
The fighters come to the center of the ring, the height difference clear as Lais stares down at Emma with a hard look, Emma looking up at her with disdain, not much respect here by the looks of it, especially when they just swipe their gloves with their opponent's set, focused more on getting to their corners, once ready the bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1: At the bell both women test each other out with jabs, Emma is dipping down early to dodge then strike to the body of the Brazilian, who tries to double up her jab to keep Emma on the outside, an early chess match forming here as they feel each other out.
Lais manages to back up Emma when she lands a one-two to the top of her head, a left cross doesn't land flush but must give Ribero some confidence, though that might disappear as she misses with a straight, instead being clocked over the top by an overhand left to her jaw to turn her head to the side.
Soon enough Emma is proving to be a pain for Lais, moving around her and striking around the body, Lais not quite accurate enough with her punches to keep Corrin in one place, with the smaller fighter proving elusive.
An uppercut knocks Lais to the ropes late in the round, Ribero needing to clinch with the actress, keep her wrapped up till the referee can break them up, where Lais lands her best punches in a while when they resume, Emma maybe losing focus as a one-two combo lands square into her face, back goes Emma to the opposite ropes, the bell rings with Lais taking a breath to keep calm after a bad start to the fight for her.
Round 2: Lais comes out doubling up her jab, looking to drive back the smaller woman, who continues to find her way to the body of Lais to keep her on her toes, fighting around the ring as they seek to control the action, so far you'd have to say it's the mouse leading the cat around by its nose as Corrin is landing the crisper punches.
That's till she gets caught by a right cross as Lais reads her movements finally, a double jab follows as Emma now finds herself being pushed back to a neutral corner, trying to match Lais punch for punch, instead she is now being bullied in this head to head exchange, forcing her to clinch when her back touches the turnbuckles.
Resuming fighting after being broken up, Lais is quicker on the draw, knocking back Emma behind her gloves with a flush one-two combo to her face, forcing the English fighter to cover up more tightly now as she is being driven back to the outside part of the ring, Lais looking good holding the center.
Landing single punches as they head into the final moments of the round, Emma is mostly being shut down by Lais, who is opening up now with hooks coming in when Lais sets up behind her jab, at the bell Ribero with a solid return there after a slow start to the fight.
Round 3: Looking more confident now as she steps out her corner, Lais is drilling in punches as she steps into them, Emma is pushed back early in the round by a stiff jab to the top of her head, followed by a right cross onto her cheek, subduing the smaller woman as she is tightening her guard up.
Keeping Corrin herded near the ropes, Lais is landing several crisp punches into the chest of Emma to try to open her up, barking with effort as she sends in hooks around the guard, Emma again only landing single punches in return, Jeri looking worried as her fighter isn't doing enough right now.
Past the halfway point in the round, maybe Emma was playing possum as she suddenly ducks a right hook and comes back with an uppercut that rocks back Lais, Emma now unloading on her as Lais is forced to backpedal towards the opposite set of ropes, Lais pulls Emma down into a front headlock, getting a warning from the referee when they are pried apart.
Final minute sees Lais boxing more on the back foot now, forcing the smaller fighter to come at her, both looking for openings as they sting each others faces with straight shots till the bell rings, Lais maybe took the round on control but Emma showed she can hurt the model.
Round 4: Trading punches out the gate as Emma seems to want to get stuck in more, Lais trying to keep her at arms length, finding it hard to do so against the fired up opponent, with both women eyeing each other up wanting to really knock the stuffing out their opponent.
A missed straight from Lais allows Emma to do so, with a straight to the body causing Lais to gasp, air driven out of her and she looks vulnerable now, with Corrin knocking her back onto the ropes with a flurry of clean punches, Lais holding onto Emma to slow her charge down.
Broken apart so they can fight on, Emma keeps moving forwards now, happy to take a few jabs as Lais doesn't appear to have the sting in her punches as she did, Emma getting back to the body, landing more hard punches as she plants her feet, driving back the taller fighter to the ropes again, Lais holding on to her as she clearly isn't enjoying this one bit.
Final moments of the round sees Lais throwing more combinations in desperation, Emma taking most on her gloves, it does a good enough job so that Lais reaches the bell, it's clear as she sits down and spits out her gumshield that she was badly winded by that punch flush into her solar plexus, Emma meanwhile has marks on her face but looks raring to go as Jeri tells her to be smart about this.
Round 5: Out they come with Emma starting to feint more, using her footwork to create openings, right away she lands a right square into the stomach of Lais, who grimaces as she bends slightly, A LEFT CATCHES HER AROUND THE EAR BEFORE EMMA LOADS UP THEN POUNDS IN A RIGHT SQUARE INTO THE LIVER, DOWN GOES LAIS WITH A CRY OF PAIN, ON ALL FOURS WITH TEARS IN HER EYES!
That looked a killer punch as Emma jogs to the neutral corner with a stone cold expression, 1...2...3... Lais kicks the canvas with her right foot as she spits out her mouthpiece, 4...5...6... Rolling to her left side, Lais is holding her stomach as she can be heard sobbing, 7....8...9...10 it's not long till she is counted out!
Winner Emma Corrin KO Round 5
After: That's two for two in this tournament for the winner, Emma smiling as she looks over at Jeri, who steps into the ring applauding her protégé, while the crowd whistle and cheer the young fighter on another sterling performance that surely puts her in good stead for the tournament.
As Emma gets her gloves taken off in her corner, Jeri jokes "that's one giant down, just two more to go and you can get the treasure at the top of the beanstalk" Emma chuckles as she shakes her head, Jeri proudly smiling at Emma as she pats her on the back for a job well done.
Lais right now though is more then happy to be getting an ice pack on her body, she slowly sits up with help then up to her feet with a pained look, those body shots took the fight out of her as she winces when heading to her corner, apologizing to her coach for another defeat, the coach brushing it off as they tell her "always the next one" with Lais nodding in response.
Soon enough Lais leaves the ring with help, she is more interested it seems in getting in the ice bath right now to sooth her sore body, then watching her opponent get her hand raised, Lais came into the tournament with pundits believing she will finish last, she needs to find something extra if she is to get wins on the board as she is missing something right now to be dangerous in the ring.
Back in the ring Emma gets her left hand raised, she is smiling warmly to them as she bows to each side of the ring in a thank you to her supporters, posing for the cameras after with Jeri beside her, Emma seems to have a real chance at winning this tournament if she can use this game plan against the likes of Karlie Kloss and Robyn Lawley, she steps out the ring looking excited for the next challenge ahead.
