Results: Lookout!; Story: Caspian & The Dollhouse

BEFORE:
"I'm feeling good about tonight,” Winnick says first from the press table earlier that night. “Haven't fought in 3 months, time to get back and kick some ass. I've had good success ending last year, and I’m looking forward to completing a 3 fight win streak tonight. Taylor is no pushover though, she beat Brie Larson in November. That's big! I know she's strong, but is she strong enough to beat me? I don't think so."

Her opponent tonight is Australian actress Eliza Taylor, who had a nice 4-0 win-streak last year broken by a sudden loss to Brie Larson back in January this year. How the thirty-three-year-old fares against a veteran like Winnick remains to be seen, however. And for now, the blonde is showing all sorts of respect when they exchange remarks in front of the assembled press.

“In some twisted sense, I aim to do what Katheryn is doing when I’m at her age. She’s not letting a simple number stop her from kicking ass. She may be twelve years my senior, but I’m not underestimating her resolve tonight, as I’m hoping she won’t underestimate mine.”

Other than that age difference, both blondes look about the same in terms of height and build as they square off on the podium moments later. Eliza looks like she wants to make a comeback by winning big and making a claim on the division, though Winnick herself has made her intentions clear of extending her winning-streak to three. However, they’re both cordial about it, shaking hands after the staredown and then smiling for the cameras, before both women separate to head back to their backstage areas.

Hours later, we’re back in the business of boxing, with Kat’s music first hitting the airwaves and the Dollhouse blonde striding onto the stage dressed in her white sports bra and short tights, with black trims. Her blonde hair is in a high ponytail as she’s bouncing lightly on her toes, raising both her hands into the air when the official announces her name to the crowds. Next, Eliza waltzes into the arena with an equal air of confidence, and the fans clearly know her from her television roles and other on-screen appearances. The Aussie girl struts down the ramp in a black sports bra and blue boxing shorts. Her hair in a tight ponytail and she’s wearing white gloves for this contest.

Made ready in their respective corners, the referee signals for the bell! HERE WE GO with ten rounds of Bantamweight action!

ROUND 1:
Winnick’s solid as usual in the opening rounds of a fight, marching in to pressure her opponent but keeping her arms tightly locked over her face to prevent incoming damage as well. First round has the Doll always keeping a safe distance from her opponent, this time as well jabbing at Eliza’s head to test her defences out, then quickly swerving to bob out of the way of Taylor’s return fire. Eliza, for the most part, has the same idea, eagerly circling about the ring but getting outclassed by the Doll’s more precise and powerful shots, taking a second-minute blast to the arms that rattles her bad enough to keep herself away for the remainder of the round. That’s fine by Kat, who continues the same pace till the bell rings, satisfied with driving Eliza backwards and landing one or two more clean shots to the face to take the first round wide.

ROUND 2:
Kat roars in once more - the same strategy as before as she initiates with a bob to the side, followed by a wide cross to the centre of the guard. Eliza’s more than a little ready for her this time, however, blocking the attack and then ripping a straight cross of her own to stun Kat back on the mouth! Kat looks stunned briefly but shakes it off quick enough, resetting at a distance, and the two women fall back into the same holding pattern from before, trading jabs to the head from afar. Eliza’s surprise attack keeps Winnick on the retreat for the rest of the round, however, and the actress displays a whole lot more aggression to try and capitalise, ripping more combinations into Winnick’s arms and body to try and see how fast her footwork really is. Winnick ain’t troubled too much, responding with some overhand swings of her own that force Eliza to cover up or risk getting blown off her feet in turn. The two ladies are definitely trading more leather than usual this time, but it’s Eliza’s aggression that gives her the slight edge when the bell finally rings.

ROUND 3:
Kat’s trying her luck a third time - slow and steady wins the race after all, no? She lights Eliza’s arms up with an early barrage to show her that she’s still alive and in full control, and Eliza lets out a grunt after the multiple-strike combo ends with a right hand delivered to the forehead. Taylor retreats a couple of steps but has the bad idea of roaring right back in, hoping to surprise Kat with a counterattack. Winnick however deftly ducks under a return cross, and NAILS her fellow blonde back on the chin with a power uppercut! OUCH! Taylor’s head gets sent upwards with a sickening crunch, the Aussie girl stumbling backwards, looking dazed! AND HERE COMES WINNICK, sensing an opportunity to end this! The Canadian is marching steadily forwards, her left hand pulled back to deliver a powerful hook overhead, then another right hand rammed straight down the middle to drive her foe back further. But Eliza holds onto her marbles well enough, grunting as another of Winnick’s hooks slams into the side of her arms to send her reeling off to the ropes even further. But another swing misses overhead, as Eliza makes it out of the pocket alive, but not exactly well. Bell rings soon after, and it’s a wide ass scare for Taylor, but at least she’s still standing!

ROUND 4:
Winnick seems determined to end this in the fourth, and you can sense the rest of her body brimming with power as she marches in for the kill. Eliza is determined to not let that happen, however, proving spritely for her size as she constantly leaps back out of range to avoid some of Kat’s early attacks sent towards her face. Instead, Taylor’s paying the Doll back with crisp jabs to her own face, leather sunk into the cheek or slammed off the top of her head, making the Doll pay for underestimating her this early on in the fight. After another blitz attack gives little to no results for Winnick, the Doll decides to hang back, breathing harder than at the start of the round, and shaking the stinging pain from her jaw after another fast combo slipped past her defences earlier on. Eliza doesn’t have much time to capitalise, however, with Winnick fending off her counterassault with a defensive shower of punches sent towards her as well, and the end result is both blondes circling each other at a good distance to end the round.

ROUND 5:
Winnick’s breathing a little harder at this midpoint of the fight, but she’s still confident in her ability to fell her fellow blonde. Problem is: Taylor’s recovered enough to give her a proper run for her money, and when the two meet in the centre of the ring, suddenly all the fists are flying and slammed in regardless, with the two girls going to work on each other simultaneously! Winnick’s relying on her power to swing big, driving hook after hook up and into Eliza’s arms, no doubt looking for that elusive chin of hers. Taylor, however, seems to be taking the abuse in her stride, absorbing the attacks with her raised arms locked over her head before taking snap swipes back across the Canadian girl’s face in tandem, and delivering some nasty shots that seem to daze the bigger woman. Katheryn’s backing away all of a sudden, realising that this exchange might not be the best course of action going forward, but it’s too late to reconsider when Taylor’s already in her face, not letting up with her punishment! Eliza looks hungry to see what Winnick is made of, rocking the Doll again with a hook up high, before a low left-right combo bangs into the side of her body, and through the arms! Winnick gets STUNNED by another double-hook combination off her chin, and OFF SHE GOES, reeling into the ropes with a grunt! This could be it!! Winnick’s suddenly in trouble, getting hammered by more incoming shots, as Eliza leaps in to continue the abuse: more lefts and rights pounding into her body before an uppercut ROCKS her head skywards!! DOWN THE DOLL GOES!! Bad news for Winnick’s fortunes as her dreams of making 2022 the highlight of her career goes up in smoke as she spins off to the side, then hits the ground with a loud THUD, her eyelids flashing wildly as she turns over onto her back, looking completely out like a light!! Taylor’s already rejoicing in victory, pumping her hands high in the air as she parades back to the neutral corner. Referee’s quick to be on site, hovering over the fallen blonde and shouting indiscernible numbers into her face, but Winnick only manages to groggily roll to her side, lifting her head off that mat for mere seconds, looking glassy eyed and out of it as the ref reaches 8. Katheryn is out of commission folks, those big punches from Eliza surely did a number on her - she rolls to her back again and stares at the arena ceiling in defeat as the count passes her by with the referee finally signaling for the bell to end this contest! IT’S OVER!

Official Decision: Eliza Taylor defeats Katheryn Winnick via KO5!

AFTER:
“f*ck yes!!” Eliza exclaims, elated in victory, immediately letting out a shout of triumph before running back to her corner in tears of joy. She later speaks to reporters still with a wide smile on her face. “My opinion of Kat remains the same: she hits hard and fights smart. But maybe she’s not as fast as she used to be, even only 2 years ago…I can’t imagine what it’s like to still be fighting at 44. Props to her! Whenever she wants a rematch, I’ll be happy to give it to her.”

Winnick looks crestfallen in the immediate aftermath of the fight, hiding her face in both hands whilst still prone on her back. What began as a promising night for the Doll quickly descended into an incomprehensible hellscape, and no fighter would want to start the year off with such bad luck.

“I got cocky, that’s all,” Winnick speaks to the press later by ringside after regaining her composure. “She’s tough and pretty damn strong, and I let her get in too close when I should have relied more on my instincts, playing it smart, staying back and all. I’m gonna take her up on her offer though for that rematch one day - she can bet on it.”
