Katy Perry vs. Bridget Regan (Results: Lookout. Words: Wiz)

BEFORE:
Rematch from seven years ago, nearly to the day, and a lot of water under the bridge since that "Clash of the Champions" that saw welterweight champ Regan stop lightweight champ Perry in six. Bridge went on to another run with the welterweight titles and several years among the elite of the division before a slip and lost management after the closing of Bazz. But, Bridgy Regs has gotten back on track and gotten new management and looks every bit like having another run or three in her. As for Perry, she's had no fewer than FIVE opportunities to regain the gold since dropping the lightweight straps a few months after the "Clash of the Champions"...and she's gone 0-5. But, tonight isn't about titles. It's about Regan looking to build off her momentum and Perry looking, perhaps, to establish something at welter. And, both big girls are coming in with confidence.

"Bridget is, frankly, a LOAD," says Perry with a smile. "I've been in with most of the top big girls in the FCBA, and Bridget is as tough an out as any of them. She's long and she hits like a truck. But, I SHOULD have had her the first time. This time, I'll make no mistake."

"Katy, as I said back then, hits as hard as anyone in the FCBA," says Bridget. "I'm, frankly, amazed she's never won the straps up here. As for tonight, however. I beat her once. And, I'm going to do it again."

ROUND ONE:
No feeling out here. The ladies get right to work. Regan wants gun platform stuff, and Perry willing to go along with that. Ladies about even when it comes to reach, so both are able to work at range effectively. They're moving the feet, hands, head, and there's not much in it. Until Katy lands a HARD flurry that backs up the redhead. Perry quickly commits some reserves, coming forward behind the jab and dropping hard, aggressive rights on Regan, who finds herself unable to hold canvas as she's forced to the back foot. Redhead countering in spots, but the brunette's fighting lead and taking command now. Regan's not hurt, but she's taking the worst of it in a big way as Perry gets everything working and keeps Bridget on the defensive to the bell. When it rings, it's Katy wide and with the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:
Ladies back to range and REGAN LANDS A BIG RIGHT HAND! Just seconds into the round, Bridget hits Katy with a damn buster and Perry is rumblin', stumblin', fumblin' across the ring. Redhead quickly all in, driving Katy into the ropes and making with the heavy leather. Ref watching closely as Bridget looks to finish this thing right now. Perry, however, keeps the guard high, rolls with, blocks, jabs back in spots, rides out the worst of it. Late in the round, the brunette is even banging back with solid shot and manages to work her way off the ropes. Regan's still getting the better of things, mind, and she continues to do so right to the bell. But, when it ring, while the redhead has grabbed the points wide and evened things at 19, Katy's survived the danger and lives to fight another round.

ROUND THREE:
Regan, knowing Perry's legs are back, returns to gunnery range and works the left, dropping right hands off it. Perry responds in kind, and we're right back to where we were in the first. And, once again, both fighters effective on these terms, scoring well with both hands. And, there's plenty of heavy leather being landed here, no surprise considering the power the two fighters have at their disposal. But, despite all that, nobody's hurt until BOOM! Straight right by Katy and DOWN GOES BRIDGY REGS! Regan splashed to her back after a perfectly-timed right from the brunette! Perry quickly to a neutral corner to watch and wait. Regan rolls to left shoulder and haunch, pushes to a sitting position, begins to rise, and DROPS BACK TO HER KNEES! It's OVER! Bridget can't beat the count and it's OVER! And your winner by KO3 is Katy Perry!

AFTER:
Perry scuffed but all smiles. A huge win for the brunette beauty after another tough loss in a title fight last month. "Like I said," Katy says with that lovely smile, "She's a LOAD. Still hits as hard as anyone I've been in with. But, I knew I could get it done. And, I got it done."
