Samara had been preparing for this bout for months. Demi’s simultaneous capture of the bantamweight and JMD belts left her paired with O&E’s “Mila clause” in their contracts had left her in a position to contest two title fights if Demi made it to a fifth defense. Her utter demolition of Sophia Bush showed she was in tip-top form for this bout. And she was going to need it.

Two full frontal fighters edging in shoulder to shoulder, then hooking the bejeezus out of each other’s body and breasts would be the tone of this fight for round after round. Demi would stampede the fight to the ropes in the first two rounds, but after that Samara would get her feet set and keep things more even. The fourth was particularly hotly-contested as they would throw their lefts over each other’s shoulders and form up a mid-ring Cauldron to punish each other to the body.

The fight would turn on a sixth round knockdown. Demi hit the canvas on her famous butt in the final seconds, and had to be saved by the bell. It wasn’t the same fight after that. Rose was still eager, aggressive and competitive; but she wasn’t holding her ground anymore. She stayed on her feet and kept punching till the final bell, but she spent so much time stacked up on the ropes. Samara came out with the biggest upset of the first round, but the price she paid for this UD10 may have knocked herself out of contention as well.
