Words: Fates

Before:
The final fight of the night sees Ana Beatriz Barros making her final appearance in the ring against her stablemate and fellow model Emily DiDonato. In her swansong fight, the Brazilian bombshell was given her choice of opponents and chose one of the toughest girls in the FCBA, and has the chance to go out on the win of her career. But it won’t be easy – DiDonato has fought top welterweights including Kate Upton, Courtney Tailor, and Brooklyn Decker before, and has beaten them all. The sports books heavily favor Emily, but perhaps Ana has some last fight magic to score an upset with.

The press room is full of flashing cameras as the two models enter and meet in the middle, briefly hugging each other in a display of affection that won’t be replicated in the fight. Ana picks up her mic first and glances at Emily. DiDo motions for Barros to speak, and the Brazilian starts talking.

“I wanted to go out fighting the best fighter I know,” Ana says, “I’ve fought some good fighters including Kate Upton. But that’s why I chose Emily – she’s the best I know.”

Barros drops her mic and leaves the press conference to the flashes of cameras. DiDonato looks blankly at her mic as the press asks her questions. She picks up her mic and pauses before speaking.

“I’m going to give Ana the fight she wants.” DiDonato promises before leaving the press conference.

The crowd is chanting Ana’s name, and the fans can barely hear the fight announced. Emily is the first girl to make her way to the ring and the American wears a purple bikini set with matching gloves, the brunette calmly pacing around the ring despite a smattering of boos which the model does not usually get. Ana is announced and the crowd goes wild, the Brazilian stepping out in a green and yellow bikini set with matching gloves, the colors of her home flag. Ana strides to the ring, pausing briefly outside and exhaling before stepping foot into the ring. The crowd gets even louder and starts cheering her name again as the ref gives final instructions, and he calls for the bell.

Round 1:
The two brunette beauties carefully circle each other, both models knowing the other girl’s tendencies from the fights they’ve fought in front of each other. Emily is the first girl to strike, the American feinting left and going right to catch the Brazilian in her chest before retreating. Ana groans and shoots out a left that catches Emily in the chin, the older girl taking advantage of her longer reach. DiDonato quick on her guard as Barros surges forward with her long legs, the Brazilian hammering DiDo’s ribs and chest. Emily wincing as she clinches with Ana and forces the break. Barros feints right out of the break but DiDonato reads her and pops the older girl in her face with a right. Barros retreats and DiDo chases after her. Emily catches the older girl with a left into her ribs, but Ana plants her feet and hammers a left into Emily’s liver. The bell rings and the two girls go back to their corners. Ana wins the first round on points, close.

Round 2:
The models both leave their corners with energy and Ana starts with a jab at Emily, but the Goshen Goddess is ready for her. DiDo sidesteps the blow and crushes a short right into her stablemate’s face. Barros recoils and barely gets her guard up to block the follow up left. DiDonato shifts her focus to Barros’s body and pounds the bigger girl into the ropes, hammering her midriff and drawing groans out of the older model. Ana is quick on the clinch to force a break. Barros and DiDonato start circling each other and the younger brunette works her jab. Emily may not have the reach Ana does but the American didn’t become lightweight champion by luck. DiDo working the bigger girl back. Ana knows she has to fight back and the Brazilian lands a right into Emily’s face. Barros tags her stablemate’s chest as a follow up but DiDonato pounds her right back and the bell rings.

Round 3:
Ana and Emily charges at each other as they both kick up sand and the Brazilian lands the first blow. Barros follows up with a left into DiDonato’s jaw and knocks the American girl back. Emily not used to fighting girls this much bigger than her and the Goshen Goddess doesn’t measure the Brazilian’s range and gets jabbed back into the ropes. The Brazilian crowd roars as Ana tees off on Emily’s jugs, but the smaller model is quick on her clinch to force a break. The ref pulls the two girls apart and Emily lands a quick left out of the break. Ana fires back with a right into Emily’s chest and the American girl slugs the Brazilian right back. It’s turning into a slugfest in the third and while Ana is bigger, Emily has knocked out girls like Decker and Upton and Tailor with those blows, and the bell rings. Ana takes the round with her early aggression on points, wide.

Round 4:
Barros working her power as she knocks the smaller brunette around the ring and DiDonato is covering up. Ana hits Emily in the ribs and follows up with a left hook, the Brazilian steadily working the American back into the ropes. Emily backpedals and plants her feet as Ana advances. DiDo feints left and connects with a right that staggers Barros! Ana stays up and gets her guard up in time to block a left from Emily, but the small model shifts to Ana’s body and chest and powers the bigger girl backward. DiDonato pummeling Barros’s body and midriff and driving the air out of the Brazilian’s lungs. Both girls kicking up sand as Emily works Ana into the ropes. DiDonato slams a left into Barros’s solar plexus and Ana shouts out in pain, barely able to clinch Emily to save her from a knockdown. The bell rings and the ref has to pull Ana off of Emily, the Brazilian barely able to stand on her own and make her way back to her corner.

Round 5:
DiDonato with a fire in her eyes as she leaves her corner like a shot out of a cannon and the American pounds leather into Barros. The Brazilian girl is covering up as the younger model works her into the ropes, and the older model desperately hangs on to clinch. The ref gives the break, but Ana’s troubles aren’t over as Emily chases after her. Barros plants her feet and shoots out a right, but DiDo sees it coming and ducks the blow before crushing a left hook into Ana’s jaw. Barros goes wobbly butt and DiDonato unloads with a flurry of uppercuts into Ana’s guard. DiDo’s third blow splits Barros’s protection and connects with Ana’s chin and down goes Ana! The ref starts to count over the older model, and Ana rolls herself onto her stomach. The Brazilian gets to all fours to the deafening roar of the crowd, and pushes herself up at nine on unsteady legs.
The ref checks in on Ana and looks ready to stop the fight, but the Brazilian tells him, “Let me at her.” The ref waves Emily back in and Ana’s back to covering up as DiDonato unloads on her midriff, chest, and ribs. The bigger girl clinches and the ref pulls the American away from the Brazilian before the action resumes. Ana goes for a left straight that connects with Emily’s chest, but the American nearly takes off Ana’s head with a right and drives her into the ropes and here comes Emily! DiDonato showing no mercy as she pounds Barros’s body, the Brazilian sinking lower and lower into the ropes. The ref doesn’t want to intervene but Ana’s arms fall to her side and he pulls Emily away as Ana is defenseless. Your winner by TKO5, Emily DiDonato!

After:
Emily gets her arms under Ana and helps the Brazilian down to the sand and hugging her  defeated stablemate. Barros pats the younger model and the face of Fates Boxing on her back, the two girls embracing as they both hold back tears. The medics help Ana to a stool and Emily steps back, but the American model doesn’t raise her gloves or celebrate. Barros steadily gets cleaned up and once the staff steps away, DiDonato extends her hand and helps Barros up, raising her arms for the crowd. The crowd roars for the hometown girl and DiDonato lets go of Barros’s hand and joins in on the applause before letting the Brazilian have the ring to herself.

Ana waves to the crowd, fighting back the tears as she enjoys her final minutes in the ring before swinging her leg over the rope and leaves for the post fight press conference.

“It would have been something to go out on a win against Emily,” Ana tells the press, “But Emily is the face of Fates along with Lizzie. I knew choosing her would be a challenge for my final fight, but it was an honor I wanted. I’ll still be part of Fates – just not in the ring.”
