BEFORE: Classic Germany vs France battle on the beach as Ann-Kathrin Brommel is ready to kickstart her championship ambitions one more time. It's debatable whether she truly has what it takes to become a BBU champion or is she simply a boxing 'ozeki' to use the Far East terminology. However she's not going after a low-hanging fruit here since Malika Menard remains the most accomplished French lightweight even though Nabilla Benattia has probably passed her on the national rankings in recent months. 'Le Grand Malika' is always up for the challenge and eanjoys the bigger ovation among the Dubai patrons while Ann-Kathrin kicks the sand around in visible frustration...

Ann-Kathrin Brommel wears a green one-piece swimsuit with a carved pattern around the ribcage & golden gloves. Long brown hair with blonde dye tied in a custom ponytail. Malika Menard wears a white bikini set & red gloves. Long dark brown hair tied in a curled ponytail. Both women are barefoot. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the lightweight division.

Round 1:
Slow start from the French woman and Ann-Kathrin makes her pay with a well-executed jabbing blitz that triggers a hectic exchange in the center of the ring. Malika tries to follow through on her punches but the German rival stretches her elbows quicker every time and beats the French stunner to the punch several times which finally forces the former champion to think better off it. The chase is on though as Brommel wants to expand her superior position and she clobbers the slightly subdued Menard to the post outright come the two-minute mark. Malika swings back from the tight hole but struggles to put enough weight behind her efforts and has to soak up another head-hunting pounce that allows Ann-Kathrin to carry the round on points with room to spare.

Round 2:
Malika comes back to smack a jabbing drive into the German's face early on but she doesn't quite punish her in a sudden phone booth burst and has to embrace an overhand swing as Ann-Kathrin steps into her shots kicking up some dust as she pivots for better angles wary of the elite French defense after all. Then again Malika leaks too many of these punches and gets pounded back to the ropes down the stretch which allows Brommel to work the high octane pounce for remainder of the round - until Menard clinches her out of sheer desperation in the end.

Round 3:
More of the same in the third, Malika takes the first minute but only lands some second rate punches and fails to cover up when Brommel mauls her up the middle in response. Not the best of showing from the French pageant winner who cuts a rusty figure as more time ticks off the clock while Ann-Kathrin knows exactly what she's doing here working the brunette to the body and keeping her under wraps in composed fashion. Even Black Eagles coach Gina Wild remains unusually quiet in the corner and simply lets 'Vida' do her thing. More body shots barge Menard onto the makeshift turnbuckle and it's all Brommel here as she pummels the subpar brunette into loud spasms at the bell.

Round 4:
Another brief jabbing burst allows Malika to knock the blonde around the area but Ann-Kathrin is almost too confident for her own good now as she taunts the French pageant to blitz her in more aggressive fashion. Uh-oh!! And there goes 'Le Grande Malika' pacing an uppercut series on the cleavage that catches the younger woman out... Ann-Kathrin stumbles to the side and has to swing from her heels but only finds thin air while Malika blows her up in vintage elite fashion to smack more leather on the exposed chin until she spins the German foe onto the ropes. She drives a harpoon series on the exposed liver area and it's panic station in the Eagles corner as Malika storms back into a superior position pounding away at the German flesh until the bell halts her charge! Woof! Ann-Kathrin cannot believe what just happened here...

Round 5:
More trouble for the Germans as Malika delivers the head-hunting blast and cuts 'Vida' under the left eye before a left hook drops the blonde on her heels. She digs deep in the sand anyway but Menard lands a right hook on the nose and connects with a flurry of punches up the middle while Brommel's high guard collapses in shocking fashion... she is getting pancaked from both sides until Malika wrecks her with a brutal right hook on the jaw moments past the one-minute mark... DOWN GOES 'VIDA' CRASHING DOWN FLAT ON HER BACK amid a loud cheer from the Dubai patrons!!! Ugh! Even Gina Wild is lost for words and stares down at the sand where the stable's lightweight hopes suffer another huge setback!!! EIGHT... NINE... TEN... Ann-Kay is counted OUT!!! What drama here in the Middle East!!! KO5 Malika Menard in mild come-from-behind fashion!!!

AFTER: An absolute disaster for the Eagles who missed out on a golden opportunity to take one of the top scalps in the lightweight division and BBU TV's Kate Abdo points out Brommel can shake hands with Yasmin Verheijen when it comes to wasting prime setting to get over the elite hump. There are some experts who still think the German model can be equally as effective as her compatriot Sophia Thomalla down in the 120 lbs divison but this defeat drops her below .500 mark and she'll have to rebuild her stock almost from the scratch again.
