Before: “I know Troian’s been around a lot longer than I have,” says Neriah Fisher in the prefight, “but so was Ashley Benson whn I made my debut by beating her. OK, I didn’t do so well against Evangeline Lilly, but I am learning with every fight. I think I know enough to stay with Troian and even beat her.”
Troian smiles: “I would not bet your lunch money on beating me. Ashley is only 5’4, so I am not surprised you had an advantage on her. There is no such advantage with me. I lost to Anya Taylor-Joy earlier this year and I am not about to let a ‘social media personality’ beat me.”
“You may not have any choice in the matter,” Neriah retorted. “I am one social media personality who knows how to win boxing matches.”
“Not against me!” Troian replies bluntly.
Neriah just smiles confident which irks Troian all the more. It is the same confident smile she sees when encountering Neriah in the ring on the night of their fight. Troian doesn’t like it any better this time. Troian in a light purple one piece swimsuit with dark purple gloves and boots. Her hair is pulled back in a battle braid. Neiah in a neon green bikini with match gloves and boots. Hair is pulled back in a battle braid. Meeting with the referee is cool, but with an undercurrent of tension. Official is glad when Neriah and Troian finally just touch gloves and go to their corners. Then the bell rings.
R1: Neriah on the offensive early with lightning jabs that swat Troian hard to the chin and jaw. Then she circles around and pumps more jabs into the side of her head. Troian trying to get organized but the speed and volume of Neriah’s punching is keeping her off balance. Neriah then shifts to working Troian to the body with hard, whacking hooks especially to the abs. Again, Troian trying to get set up to counter, but gets disrupted by Neriah’s spirited attacks. Troian looking frustrated, though she does keep trying to get some counters going, but it’s not nearly enough to keep Neriah from winning the round wide.
R2: Troian now crowding in on Neriah as soon as she can reach her. Troian jerking her short rights and lefts up into Neriah’s body. Neriah seems confused at first, but adjusts and starts firing shirt hard ones into Troian’s body. Now they settle into a bruising body battle of attrition as they hammer away at ribs, bellies and breasts. Strong, deep punches start to draw gasps and gurgles from both fighters as these blows increasingly reverberate through their bodies. It’s only in the closing minute that Troian seems to gain the upper hand in this and force Neriah into a slow, stubborn retreat. Bell rings and Troian Bellisario emerges as the close winner of a hard-won round.
R3: Troian tries to repeat her up-close-and-personal tactic of the previous round, but Neriah is ready for it. As Troi tries to come in she comes into a buzzsaw of Neriah’s hard punching. Troian tries to press forward, but she rights and lefts smacking into her head are too much. Her jaw, cheekbones and chin were all showing signs of red swelling patches and then Neriah caught her in the right eye opening a cut in her eyebrow. Troian fell back and tried to circle in hopes of finding an opening. However Neriah was moving with Troian and keeping her at a distance with steady punching, now adding body blows to the bombardment. Troian was punching back, but these did not seem to slow Neriah down at all. Round ended with a bruised and sweating Troian and a happy Neriah who had won this round wide.
R4: Neriah now took the offensive as the new round began. She went at Troian punching steadily as Troian now forced to cover up. Still, Troian was not surrendering the offensive to Neriah without a fight. Troian made was jabbing back as Neriah came in but the need to protect her head limited this. However as Neriah kept punching her in the face and head, Troian tried a revers circle. Apparently heading left, but then moving right to swing at Neriah’s jaw. Unfortunately Neriah didn’t bite at the feint, when Troian started to throw the right, Neriah struck first with a lunging right that RIPPED into Troian’s chin. Troian was lifted off her and feet and CRASHED ONTO HER BACK! Neriah happily went to the neutral corner. Troian managed to sit up and try to clear her spin head. Meanwhile the referee was counting, but Troian was able to make it up to break the count at “EIGHT!” The fight resumed soon after ,but Troian prudent put her face in her gloves and gave Neriah no chance at a finishing punch. Neriah had to content herself with the knockdown and winning the round wide.
R5: Thwarted in close, Troian now attacks early from the middle distance. Troian plants big banging jabs into Neriah’s splitting her lower lip and bloodying her nose. Troian is moving very nicely in as she bangs Neriah with these shots. Neriah’s face rapidly lumping up and he blood is trickling down her face ad chin. However Neriah then swipes a page from Troian and goes at her in close. Now Troian suddenly getting hooks in her belly ribs and chest. Troian seems startled by this move, but swiftly adjusts and starts banging Neriah back. The two are toe to toe and forehead to forehead as they hammer away. Troian slowly gaining the upper hand late and forcing Neriah back under the leather storm Troian is flinging at her. Bell sounds. A close round, but it goes to Troian Bellisario.
R6: Troian and Neriah come out for the new round. O & E corner crew did their best to patch Neriah up, but she is seen to be moving slowly. Troian is moving much more quickly and comes at Neriah bobbing and weaving as she punches. Neriah sluggish as she deals with this barrage and Troian now bores straight in. Troian first doubles Neriah up with ravaging hooks to the midsection and then Troian bashes Neriah hard to the jaw. Neriah stumbles back and Troian cracks a right/left to the chin. DOWN GOES NERIAH! Neriah lands on her side and struggles to rise. Troian to the neutral corner as referee counts. Neriah desperately trying to rise, finally makes it fully up at “NINE!” Referee lets the fight go on and waves Troian back in. Neriah trying to get her mitts but she Troian driving straight rights and lefts into Neriah’s face. Neriah sprawling back against the ropes as Troian pounces with rights and lefts to the head. Neriah is helpless, too stunned to fight back AND THE REFEREE STOPS IT!. Neriah bundled to safety by the referee as Troian raises her right arm in victory.
THE WINNER: TROIAN BELLISARIO DEFEATS NERIAH FISHER TKO6
After: “I was just too tough for her, that’s all,” Troian explains later to the press. “She’s a decent fighter. After all, she did get that knockdown on me, but my knockdown wrecked her and she didn’t last much longer after that. So now I’m on yo my next fight, whoever that turns out to be.”
Neriah Fisher not quite seeing things that way: “Belliario got me good. I just should have covered up and not tried to keep fighting with her. Next thing I knew I was on the ropes, getting my face turned to hamburger and the referee jumping in. I still think I could have beat her with some quicker thinking, That’s something Ill be working on. I don’t know if I will ever get another shot at Belliasrio, but if I do the outcome will be whole lot different!”
Interesting fight. It did look pretty even between the two while it lasted, but that R5 knockdown of Neriah was clearly the turning point. Troian had gone down in the 4th, but she was able recover and Neriah was not so fortunate. One could easily imagine the result turning out differently (and Neriah Fisher certainly does), but the fact is that Troian Bellisario won and it was solid win for the veteran. Neriah lost, but she showed some encouraging signs of talent so she could well be back on track soon.
