BEFORE:
"I've got nothing to lose here," says Ellie with a lovely smile. "Everyone thinks she's a big deal and I'm a 'never was'. So, I'll just go out there with no pressure and shock everyone!"
"She's absolutely not a pushover," says a hard-eyed Olivia. "But, if she thinks she's getting her hand raised tonight, she's delusional."
ROUND ONE:
O'Dell: "Back at ringside and that is 'Lights' you hear behind us, and here comes the singer of that hit tune, the beautiful Ellie Goulding!"
McCarthy: "AJA 'Typical Dancing Hooker Opponent' with NO FCBA wins..."
Tess: "A what now?"
Cassie: "Worth it, BFF?"
Tess: "No, we'd still be explaining it in the middle of the JUNE card..."
McCarthy: "What ARE you two babbling about?"
O'Dell (sighing): "Ellie into the ring and helped off with the robe, and the crowd appreciating Ms. Goulding in that white number we've seen before. And, that..."
McCarthy: "Isn't bad, unlike a lot of this music, which is an abbrevious assault on my olfaction!"
Cassie: "We're going for the record..."
McCarthy: "For terrible songs played at one venue? We broke that YEARS ago!"
O'Dell (sighing): "Still five fights to go. I may need that bottle delivered right to this table. The song in question, of course, is Good 4 U', sung by the lady coming to the ring right now, 'The Murrieta Mauler', Olivia Rodrigo!"
Tess: "Olivia off to not just a great start at Front Street, but to her FCBA career, and she definitely wants to keep that going tonight."
O'Dell: "Rodrigo into the ring and helped off with the robe by Jewel and Neve. She's wearing that marigold number we've seen before, and the crowd popping as always seeing her in it. Ladies are about ready. Time for some picks. Tess likes Olivia. Mac?"
McCarthy: "NO FCBA wins! Rodrigo!"
O'Dell: "Cassie?"
Cassie: "I agree with Tess!"
O'Dell: "Unanimous again. Let's see if the ladies are right. Goulding working forward early, and this isn't a surprise. Ellie a full bantam with good power, and she's going to want to bring the physical against Rodrigo. Olivia willing to give a little ground, wants to maintain distance here..."
Tess: "Similar dynamic to what we saw in the first fight...."
O'Dell: "Indeed, it is. Goulding showing plenty of head and foot movement here, as she looking to angle in. Rodrigo popping that jab. She's got a bit of a reach advantage here, and she's using it effectively. Not a lot in it at the moment, as both fighters are getting some things done..."
McCarthy: "But, not all that much."
O'Dell: "Fair point, Mac. Definitely some feeling out going on. Goulding getting inside now and working some body. Rodrigo slips away to her right, gets back to her stance, works the jab again. Final seconds ticking away and there's the bell. Very close, but it's the blonde in the first."
Cassie: "And, Ellie takes the early 10-9 lead."
ROUND TWO:
O'Dell: "Ladies back to work on the same terms. Ellie looking to get inside and bang some, while Olivia wants to maintain the distance, get her box on. And, for a girl with half a dozen FCBA fights, she's quite the boxer. Quick, accurate jab. Hands out and back. Good stuff on display from a 19-year-old..."
McCarthy: "Too bad she has horrible management and will never become anything..."
O'Dell: "Olivia putting punches together now. Getting that jab on and following with the right hand. Some nice combinations from the brunette now and SHE ROCKS ELLIE! Goulding staggered with a straight right hand and DOWN GOES THE BLONDE! A three-punch flurry sends the singer to her back!"
Tess: "And, that might get the job done!"
O'Dell: "Olivia to a neutral corner. Referee's count at three. Four. Five. Goulding staring up at him wide eyed. Six. Seven. Ellie sitting up at eight. Nine. Not going to happen. TEN! It's OVER! Goulding still sitting on the canvas as the count passes her by and it's OVER! And your winner by KO2 is 'The Murrieta Mauler', Olivia Rodrigo!"
Cassie: "Maybe Olivia will become something after all..."
AFTER:
O'Dell: "Let's go up to the ring and Tess Valmore!"
Tess: "I have our winner, Olivia Rodrigo, and, Olivia, you didn't waste any time in there..."
Olivia (smiling): "She's a veteran and she can hit. You don't want to play games with her. You get a chance to take her out, you need to get that done. And, that's just what I did."
Tess: "This was only your seventh fight, but you're already impressing a lot of folks around the FCBA. What's next for you?"
Olivia: "Nice thing is, I don't have to worry about that anymore. I just go to work and let management handle all the details."
