Two star cougar lightweights boxed in California last night as Julia Roberts took on Jennifer Lopez. Both made tabloid headlines in the past couple weeks and this bout quickly came together.
Jennifer is newly signed to the GBS stable and is excited about that after the folding of her previous stable. “It is tough but I am still a valuable boxer to the FCBA and GBS saw that. I would be glad to manage and box as I did before. That should be in the offering for me.”
Julia is on a newly found interest in boxing as some of her older bouts have been discovered recently.
“I’ve wanted to fight J-Lo for some time. I thought I had missed my chance, but its great that am finally getting my crack t her.”

The first round saw Julia come out quickly towards Jennifer. But Roberts got two crosses to her face for her rush. That put Lopez in control and she went back to the redhead’s face with a left hook to her chin. Now Julia was backing away after taking 3 great shots to her face. A charging Jennifer closed the distance and went to a great left hook to Roberts’ rib cage. Julia then goes to cover and clinch but winds up with her torso open to Lopez. Jennifer then goes to right and left hook in there as the red haired actress took hard punches as her clinch attempt failed. Her middle then took some straight punches before she did clinch up with Lopez. After being separated, Julia got outside of Jennifer and had to work to stay there as the round drew to a close. Jennifer won it widely as she smiled on her way back to her corner.
The second round began and Jennifer came out now pumping gloves towards Julia. But Roberts surprises fight fans by snapping off a backhanded jab and then going with a chopping right into Lopez. She backs away from Jennifer’s answer as Julia is back on her toes. Soon Roberts’ lets loose a couple straight punches that ROCK LOPEZ’S CHIN as she was coming in with her own punches. Fans cheers now as Julia follows up with a nice left uppercut which put Lopez backed to the far ropes. The Georgia born boxer then goes to set up shop in front of the New Yorker. Soon Julia misses a left hook and that allows Jennifer to duck and move off the ropes. She also lands a nice right cross to Julia’s face after a left hook to her body. Roberts then went back to her long range jabs and the bell rang ending the round. Julia smiled now as she won the round widely evening the bout.
The third round open with some TOE TO TOE SLUGGING which caught the fans by surprise but the noise in the arena went up as these two boxers showed off some terrific exchanges. Then Julia seemed to be beating Jennifer to the punch with some excellent clipping uppercut from both hands. But Lopez was not stopped and continued to come forward at Roberts. She slipped in some great hooks to the Georgia’s boxer middle. A nice big round of action ended with the bell ringing. And it was scored closely by won by Julia.
The bell rang beginning the fourth round and the boxers came out to answer it. But Julia got surprised when Jennifer cut off the ring with her foot work and her gloves. Soon The New Yorker had the Georgia boxer hemmed in one quarter of the ring. Bobbing and weaving inside, Jennifer began to work Julia’s ribs and waist with her gloves. Julia seemed to be folding up and Jennifer went to her face with some hard vicious uppercuts of her own which put Julia on the ropes near a neutral corner. Roberts tries to slip away but finds herself hounded by Lopez there. Julia seems to be seated by the turnbuckle as Jennifer then rips some left and right hooks to her body. The bell rang ending this shutout round for Lopez. Jennifer’s power shows as Julia is groggily walking to her corner.
The fifth round began as Jennifer now went with some whacking hooks to Julia as soon as she was in range. Roberts almost doubling over in the ring feeling major pain no doubt. Lopez goes to now bludgeon her with some short pounding punches to her opponent’s body and face now. Julia on the far ropes blown there by the Latina’s punches as her gloves come up to her face. Lopez then goes to hook her ribs and midsection with right and lefts. The Georgia boxer now goes to grab for the New Yorker but Jennifer goes with a sharp right and BOOMING left uppercut to her chin. JULIA GOES DOWN! The red haired actress falls to the canvas in a heap. Jennifer stands there over her before going to a neutral corner thanks to the female referee.
After: “That sure felt good!” exults J-Lo in the aftermath of her KO win. “I will confess that I have dreamed of taking Julia Roberts down and now I know what a great sight that was. I can't wait for my next fight! I am so grateful to GBS for giving me this opportunity! I will not disappoint him.”
As for Julia Roberts: “I guess this is a case of ‘Be careful what you wish for!’ I wanted to fight Lopez and I did—and ended up getting smelling salts stuck under my nose. Still, it was chance I had to take and maybe my next fight will go my way.” |
