LUCY HALE VS EMMA ROBERTS

Results: Lookout Writing: Archer

Lucy: 33 YO, 5’2 (1.57m) 36-39-0, 35 KO since 2010, Pretty Little Punchers

Emma: 31 YO, 5’2 (1.57m), 34-19-0, 34 KO since 2016. Dollhouse

Before: “I make no bones about it.” Says Emma Roberts at the prefight press meeting. “I got to a lousy start this year losing my first 3. Then I started turning things around by beating Williams and King. I am now ready to get back to .500—and beyond. Lucy’s also a target because she got a fluke of a win on me back in 2019 and that’s something that needs fixing. The fact that Lucy has lost her last 4 fights and this would pile it on with Loss #5 just makes it all the sweeter.”

“Charming, always so charming, that’s Emma Roberts, all right,” Lucy Hale retorts sarcastically. “Nice of her to notice that I have been having trouble this year and I am sure she sees this as her Big Chance to get back at me. Well, that may be your plan, but I am here to tell you I am ready to make sure it backfires on you. If you want to get to .500 this year, you’ll have to do with some other fighter. I am not cooperating.”

Emma just smirks: “I never expected your cooperation, Lucy dear, I just expect you to lose.”

“Not going to happen,” Lucy growls.

“Famous last words,” snarks Emma.

The ill-will seems string as the two stand staring daggers at one another during ring instructions. Emma in different ring attire than usual going for a lingerie look in a faux leopard body suit with black trim. Yellow gloves and boots with black laces. Hair pulled back in ponytail. Lucy in black bra and briefs (from her Hunkemoller lingerie line) with black gloves and boots, red laces. Lucy’s bobbed hair loose, but wetted down.

“Gee, Emma, I thought your usual ring attire was a sports bra and tights. You find out I;m wearing my designer undies,” Lucy needles.

“Don’t flatter yourself. I just wanted a different look this time,” Emma insists. “Not that you’ve given me anything to worry about with those tacky undies.”

“It’s not my bra and panties you need to worry about, Emma, it’s my gloves.” Lucy says holding up her black mitts I a menacing fashion. “And I helped design this lingerie myself!”

“Ladies, enough of this! We have a fight to run and I want to get it started,” the referee interjects impatiently.

Lucy and Emma settle down and let the official do his ring instructions. Then they give a curt tap of the gloves and go to their corners. A breathless pause. DING! It’s on!

R1: Emma and Lucy move out quickly towards the center of the ring. Emma strikes first with jabs that smack Lucy right in the face putting her back on her heels early. Emma then going for Lucy’s jaw and chin with next punch flurry. Lucy trying to backway, disrupt Emma’s advance with her jab, but Emma’s continuing to press forward. Lucy gets a couple of smacks to Emma’s chin, but takes a barrage of right and left counters to the head. Lucy covering up at the bell as Emma works away at Lucy’s flank ribs. Round to Emma Roberts wide.

R2: Lucy quicker out of the gate this time and it pays off as lands head swiveling right to Emma s jaw and sends Emma lurching to one side. Lucy stays with Emma, pumping in punches to head and body, keeping Emma from steadying herself. Lucy lands another hard right clout to the side of Emma’s had that sends Emma sideways into the ropes. Emma’s right side pinned against the ropes as Lucy pounds away. Emma clinches to force referee to break it up. Emma gets a bit of a breather, enough to have her jab ready when Lucy comes back at her. Brisk exchange, Emma look better on defense, but still getting whacked steadily by Lucy until the round ends. Lucy Hale wins this round wide.

R3: Emma counterattacking as the new round begins, but Lucy seems ready for her. Two are circling exchanging head shots early on, but then the attack shifts down to the body. Tough, grinding, high speed piston rod like punching as the two stand toe to toe, glaring into each other’s eyes as they slam home short rights and lefts. Punching rages from the abs, to the ribs and into the breasts. Two small furies going at it as crowd cheers them on and gradually Lucy Hale is pushing Emma Roberts back. Emma faltering late and it’s enough for Lucy to seize the round by a narrow margin.

R4: Lucy and Emma go right back at it up close and personal. Body punching raging on and on this round as the sound of leather against wet flesh and fabric can be clearly by ringsiders. Crowd is again cheering them on and Emma seems to be gaining the upper hand as Lucy is being forced back, but then Lucy makes a sudden move to the side. Emma drawn off balance and WHAM! Lucy brings a thunderbolt right against Emma’s jaw. Emma staggering to one side. Lucy trying to catch up with the dazed Emma, but Emma able to shake it off and stay on her feet. Two are exchanging middle distance jabs as the round ends. Another close round, but again Lucy Hale able to edge out a win.

R5: Emma not shifts tactics. No more toe to toe body busting battles with Lucy. She keeps to the middle distance but shoots in to smash Lucy to the head. Lucy trying to get back in close, but gets busted up every time she tries. Emma finding the range against Lucy’s chin and jaw. Lucy trying to counter, but she’s not able to inflict the same kind of damage against Emma. Emma looking more confident as round draws to a close and she has Lucy’s face all lumped up and bruised. Emma Roberts wins this round wide.

R6: PLP corner crew working hard to get Lucy Hale ready for next round. They have her face fairly well cleaned up, but Lucy looks slow coming out of her corner. Emma moves in warily, firing out exploratory jabs to see if this a a trap, but Lucy responds sluggishly. Emma then goes to the attack. WHAM! BAM! WHAM! Emma brings full power rights/lefts into Lucy’s jaw and chin. Lucy stumbles back, her legs lock up AND DOWN GOES LUCY! Lucy toppling onto her side lies in heap with a bewildered look on her face. Emma hastens to the neutral corner. Lucy shaking her head and then somehow finding the strength to get back up and break the count at “NINE!” Referee allows the fight to resume, but it quickly becomes apparent this was a mistake. Emma rushes in, pounds away at Lucy’s head as she stumbles back int the ropes. Lucy desperately sliding along the strands as Emma slams away at her head. LUCY IN DEEP TROUBLE!—AND THE REFEREE JUMPS IN! A Swooning Lucy is cradled to safety as Emma steps back and raises both arms in triumph.

EMMA ROBERTS DEFEATS LUCY HALE TKO6!

After: “I knew I would win,” Emma tells the press later, “sure she gave me some problems trying to fight her in close. Then I realized she was suckering me into fighting her fight. I stopped doing that and you all saw how I took her apart. I suppose I should have done that earlier, but I am quite satisfied with the win. On and upward with the rest of my 2022!”

Next day, Lucy Hale comments: “Her shift in tactics in the 5th caught me by surprise. I gt banged around hard and I was still feeling it in the 6th. You all saw what happened. She just finished me off. She won and I lost. I will just go on from there. It hurts to lose, but I refuse dwell on it. This fight is over and I will looking towards the next one.”

Brave words from Lucy Hale, but losing streaks are a drain a fighter and Lucy now has a 5-fight streak. Hopefully she can get back on track soon. Meanwhile, very good win for Emma Roberts who showed her smarts in switching to longer range tactics when the close-in action was going Lucy’s way. Emma now has 3 wins in a row and is at .500 for the year to date. Very encouraging as she looks head to the latter half of the year.
