Says Wallis Day at the prefight press get-together: “My management thinks it’s important that I show I can take the defeat the best “rising lightweights’ like Sophie Turner. It’s no secret Foxfire considers her Mary Winstead’s successor. So that makes her a prime target for me and I am happy to be fighting her.”
Says Sophie Turner: “Some of the ratings have Wallis ranked higher and myself. Well, I can’t have that. I am not in the Top 10 (yet), but I know the way to get there is to people fighters ranked ahead of you. That’s Wallis and so I am eager to take her on.”
Not much ill-wiil between the fighters, but a clash of ambition makes this a potentially important fight for both. Sophie is suddenly on rubbery legs and just trying to cover up as Wallis fires away at her to the body. Sophie’s knockers and ribs getting worked over as well as her belly. Wallis using belly hooks t try to drive Sophie against the ropes. Sophie jabbing hard to try to get Wallis back. Wallis keeps pressing and finally able to rip home a chin shot that sprawls Sophie on the rope. However, Sophie has been able to delay Wallis enough for time to run out. However Wallis emerges with a wide win in points from the judges.
R5: Sophie seeking to counterattack this round. She goes right at Wallis, aiming for her head and landing good shots early. Wallis put on the defensive as the first minute progresses. Wallis working to protect her head from Sophie Turner follow-up. Sophie adjusting, now hiring nasty boob bangers into Wallis’ rack. Wallis not liking that, strikes back at Sophie’s breasts. More body punching follows, though more in the ribs and stomach areas. Wallis evening things up as the fight progresses through the second minute. Sophie trying to claw back her advantage, but she is leaning in to pound abs and leaving her chin open. BOOM! Wallis Day fires in a BLASTING right upper that catches Sophie flush under the chin. Sophie’s head snaps back and she teeters backwards helpless. Wallis heaves a shot to the jaw AND DOWN GOES SOPHIE! Sophie lands ln on her back, her knees bent upwards, her gloved hand at her face. Wallis looks down at the fallen blonde with satisfaction then heads for the neutral corner. Referee arrives and starts counting. Sophie pulls herself up into a sitting position and looks around. She suddenly realizes she’s down and being counted out. Sophie then pulls herself together and rises to break the count at “EIGHT!” Fight resumes after ref checks Sophie over. Wallis eager to finish the job, but now runs into a barrage of jabs from Sophie. Wallis and Sophie bang shots off each other’s heads, but can’t get the other down. Bell rings. Knockdown assures Wallis Day of a wide win thi round.
R6: Wallis again being aggressive as the nee round begins, but this time Sophie is aggressive. This sets off a raging battle back and forth across the ring. Punches are flying to head and body. Sophie presses Wallis back, but then Wallis rallies and pushes Sophie back. Then Sophie comes back behind a fierce barrage of belly hooks to send Wallis backwards once more. Then they are trading punches to the head and Wallis beins to falter as repeated jaw shots force her to pull back. Sophie moving to follow, but runs out of time. Intense round leaves both fighters lumped up and bruised as they slowly return to their corners. Sophie Turner has the satisfaction of pulling out a narrow win.
R7: Last round seems to have taken a toll on Wallis and Sophie. They both move out slowly and make their way towards the center of the ring. However, once they start punching, the two start to come to life again. Wallis going right after Sophie to the head, but Sophie giving right back at Wallis’ head. Two begin to shift around, trying to find a good angle of attack, but the trading is even. Then Sophie suddenly drops down and this draws Wallis off balance. Sophie then shoots to her feet and KA-BOOM! Right to the chin lifts Wallis off her feet and WHAM! Wallis Day’s body THUBDERS to the canvas. Wallis on her back, arms thrown above her head awith eyes fluttering. Sophie gets to the neutral corner and then watches. Referee counting. Wallis is trying to rise, but when she tries to sit up she promptly swoons back down. Wallis still flat on her as referee calls out:
“NINE!...TEN!..YOU’RE OUT!”
THE WINNER SOPHIE TURNER DEFEATS WALLIS DAY KO7.
After: “That was a very hard fight,” says a weary, but triumphant Sophie Turner following fight. “I thought she would a challenge, but she as even bigger one than I expected. Fortunately, I was able to take more punishment than she did and, basically, that’s why I think I won. She is reall good though. I am sure this is not our last time in the ring together, but I am not afraid. I think I can handle her again.”
When Wallis Day hears these remarks, she is not very pleased: “She said that? Well, she may have gotten the better of me this time, but let me assure Ms. Sophie Turner that is NOT going to ‘handle’ me that way again. NEXT time she is going to be the one on her back looking up at the lights!”
Hmm, this was pretty even fight, at least until Sophie Turner managed to get that KO in the 7th Round. Not surprising Wallis Day is not about to concede Sophie’s her superior n the ring. Fans will no doubt be looking forward the next time these clash. It should be another punched packed go-round. So Sophie looks to be advancing up the Lightweight Rankings while Wallis is going to going to be looking for a bunce back fight while savor the memory of this fight. |
