Dove Cameron versus Camila Mendes (Unified Flyweight Championship) (Results: Lookout. Words: Wiz)
BEFORE:
Rematch of a bout from April sees blonde beauty Cameron square off with brunette hottie Mendes, but, this time, the stakes are a LOT higher, as Dove's Unified Flyweight Championship is on the line. And, if you think BOTH of these fighters aren't thinking about their battle on the sand in late April, well. You're wrong. "I have to admit," says Camila with a smile, "I'm surprised to get this shot. I mean, I left Dove flat on her back on the sand and then humiliated her. And, she's back for more? Fair enough. I'll beat her again AND take her titles."
"She landed a lucky shot," says a hard-eyed Dove. "But, she's going to need more than luck tonight. She's going to need divine f**king intervention!"
ROUND ONE: Mendes aggressive early, looking to replay the heavy trading the fighters engaged in on the sand a couple of months ago. But, this isn't the sand, and this isn't JMD, and Mendes quickly realizes both as Dove begins bouncin' and misbehavin' right off the opening bell. Cameron here, there and everywhere except where the challenger can find her. Blonde SNAPPING that jab in Camila's face as she circles and dances, putting together some nice combinations when she stops to pop, then slipping away before the brunette can do much in counter. Camila's game, staying aggressive looking to get some offense going, but it's not happening. Instead, Cameron's in control from the opening seconds to the final bell, and, when the latter rings, the blonde's taken the points wide and the 10-9 lead.
ROUND TWO: Mendes adjusts. She tones down the aggression and begins working the feet, looking to cut the ring, square up. And it works. Now, the champion isn't able to roam the ring. Instead, she's being brought to battle, and the challenger is more than holding her own in those exchanges, forcing Dove to back and cover again and again. As the round goes on, Camila gets stronger. She's in rhythm, getting to spots, getting off, crowding Cameron, making her uncomfortable. Dove is never hurt, but she's definitely taking some punishment, and, of course punishment isn't ALL Mendes is piling up. There are also points, and plenty of them. By the time the bell rings ending the stanza, Camila's dominating the champion. The brunette's also taken the round wide and evened the fight at 19.
ROUND THREE: Camila in control. She's got the geometry down and she's getting the terms she wants. And, when she's doing that, well, Dove has a problem. And, that problem is tons of hard, accurate leather landing in her face courtesy of the challenger. Cameron's trying to figure out some solutions here, but nothing's working. She can't get space and can't get anything go...BOOM! Right hook, Camila! And Dove is staggered! Champ steppin' in fence post holes and GOING DOWN after a straight right from Mendes! Brunette bouncing to a neutral corner to watch and wait. Cameron flat on her back just like the last time, but, this time she's able to beat the count...barely. Ref thinks long and hard during the mandatory, but waves on Camila. Mendes BATTERS Cameron around the ring and forces her to the ropes, then gives her a beating. Ref looking in closely, but the champ hanging on, doing enough to stay alive to the bell. When it rings, however, Mendes has taken the round 10-8 and the lead 29-27.
ROUND FOUR: Mendes looking to finish, visions of April on the sand dancing in her head. As for Dove, LOTS of things might be dancing in hers, because she's clearly buzzed in a MAJOR way, and the brunette is taking full advantage, banging away, looking for the "Off" button. The only good news for the champion is that she's managing to stay off the ropes and counter in spots. That's about it, however, as a dominant Camila gives her a thumping for a third consecutive round. Final minute sees some better stuff from Cameron. The legs are coming back and she's moving better, but it's still Camila getting much the better of things right to the final bell. When it rings, there's, once again, no doubt about it. Mendes has taken the points wide and built up a big three-point lead on the cards, 39-36.
ROUND FIVE: Two-way stuff for the first time in the bout. Dove's shaken the damage and is back to moving very, very well. Camila, maybe a bit arm-weary from all the energy she's used the last two rounds, starts slowly, and Cameron controls the opening minute much like she did the opening round. Challenger quickly shrugs off the lethargy, however, and gets back to work, cutting the ring, stepping to, bringing the blonde to battle. The exchanges favor Mendes once again, though Dove is doing a better job of keeping them short in this round. Final minute sees more of the same, with Camila in control when they're in close quarters and Dove dominant when she can range around the ring. When the bell rings, it's very, very close, but it's Cameron, who's cut the challenger's lead to 48-46 at the half.
ROUND SIX: More two-way stuff as the fighters work hard for favorable terms. Mendes moving the feet well, cutting the ring, forcing exchanges, and outscoring the champion in almost every one of them. But, at other times, it's Dove ranging around the ring, snapping that jab, staying in open canvas, stopping, putting together a quick flurry, then getting out of Dodge. Back and forth, in and out, for the entirety of the round, with neither fighter able to hurt the other or establish any sort of control. Instead, the round hangs in the balance from the opening seconds all the way to the final bell, and, even late rallies from both fighters designed to create some space fail. When the final seconds tick off the clock, there's absolutely nothing in it. The round is even, and that leaves Mendes on top by two, 58-56.
ROUND SEVEN: Ladies back to work on even terms. Neither slowing at all, and, if anything, both may be a bit more active in this stanza, with Dove again here, there, and everywhere and Camila working hard to reign her in and force her to battle. Again, Mendes doing better in the exchanges, while Dove offsets that with her excellent work on the move. Thus, once again, there's not much in it, until Mendes cuts, closes, and BOOM! Dove lands a short right hook to JUG that FREEZES CAMILA! Cameron quickly follows with a four-punch combination to the head and DOWN GOES MENDES! Challenger dropped to her back by an absolutely BRUTAL series of shots! Blonde quickly to a neutral corner. Brunette struggling to get off the canvas...but CAN'T BEAT THE COUNT! Camila is still on elbow and haunch when the referee reaches ten and it's OVER! And your winner by KO7 and STILL Unified Flyweight Champion is Dove Cameron!
AFTER: Dove more than a little scuffed, but the champion is ebullient. "THAT'S what I'm TALKING about. I TOLD my management I wanted THAT bytch again! She got LUCKY on the sand and had her fun. Well, guess who had fun TONIGHT? The freaking UNIFIED FLYWEIGHT CHAMPION, that's who. The Unified Flyweight Champion, who won't just be having a cup of coffee with this belt like CERTAIN girls did, right Camila?" |
