Lili Reinhart versus Natalie Alyn Lind (Unified Bantamweight Championship)

BEFORE:

Pair of top young bantam blondes set to battle for the bantam gold, and both have reason for confidence. Lind, who just turned 23, has already won the JMD Championship and fought for the bantam straps and is coming off a huge win over former Unified Bantamweight Champion Naomi Scott. For her part, Reinhart, at just 25, is 29-2 over four and a half years in the FCBA and recently avenged one of those losses by taking the belts from Elizabeth Olsen. So, yes, there's plenty of confident talk in the prefight. "Obviously, she's very good," Natalie admits. "You don't get the gold unless you are. BUT, while she's clearly a top-level bantam, so am I. I'm also BETTER than she is. And, I'll prove it."

"She deserves to be here," says a hard-eyed Lili. "No question about that. But, she's NOT the best bantamweight in the FCBA. I am. As she's about to find out."

ROUND ONE:
Ladies get right to it. Nat The Brat, as usual, wants to get physical, and Lili's juuuusssstttt fine with that. So, recon? We don't NEED no stinking RECON! Instead, the ladies simply meet in the middle of the ring and get to work, banging away with both hands, looking to impose will. Until, about a minute in? BOOM! Right hand, REINHART and Lind is HURT! Natalie wobbled and Lili immediately goes ALL IN looking to accomplish the rarest of FCBA feats, the KO1 title fight. Lind reeling backward as "Diamond" Lili backs her to the ropes and has at it, thumping her to head and body, looking to take her out of there. Natalie plays solid defense, however, and, by the final thirty seconds, has shaken the damage and is firing right back at the champion. Soon enough, Natalie is off the ropes and we're back on even terms at the bell. It's Reinhart's round, though, and wide, as the champ takes the 10-9 lead.

ROUND TWO:
Lind turns up the aggression to eleven. She's taken a really good shot from the champ and shaken off the damage, and she definitely feeling her oats. Almost instantly, the champion finds herself on the back foot, as the challenger tosses punches in bunches at her, forcing her to back and cover and suppressing her offense almost completely. Reinhart can't get the feet set or get much of anything going, as Lind continues to swarm her effectively, hooking head and body and landing plenty of hard shot to both. Champ is scoring in counter on occasion, but that's all she can manage. Then, late in the round, BOOM! A NASTY right from Natalie wobbles Lili! But, before the challenger can follow up on the big punch, the bell sounds. And, while Lind's taken the round wide to even things at 19, of more immediate interest to the Front Street crew is how wobbly Reinhart is on her way back to the corner.

ROUND THREE:
The champion is wobbly and the challenger knows it. Natalie steps to immediately and takes the fight to the older blonde. She's digging a little body, but mostly working upstairs looking to press her advantage. And, press it, she does. BOOM! Left hook NATALIE and DOWN GOES LILI! Reinhart dropped to her back by a beautiful right hook from the challenger! Natalie bounces to a neutral corner to watch and wait, but the champion disappoints her, getting to her feet at eight. Ref thinks about it during the mandatory, but he waves on Natalie, who goes right to work, battering the champion back into the ropes and THUMPING her. Ref's looking in closely as Lili covers up, rides out Hurricane Brat as best she can. And, despite Lind's best efforts, the champ is able to stay on her feet to the bell. But, it's a huge 10-8 round for Natalie, who moves into a 29-27 lead.

ROUND FOUR:
Lind all in early, backing up the champion, battering her around the ring. She's determined to get the finish here, while all the listing S.S. Reinhart can do it try to control the damage as unrelenting fire continues to rain down on the ship. Lind again working a little body, but mostly concentrating upstairs. Lili playing solid defense, keeping the guard high despite the work to ribs and midsection, and mostly able to stay off the ropes. But, that's about the extent of the good news for the older blonde. It's all Natalie all the time as Lind continues to dominate to such an extent that the ref is on high alert, ready to step in and stop this thing at any time. But, once again, Lili holds on and manages to stay afloat despite the damage. When the bell rings, Lind has pitched a shutout and extended her lead to 39-36, but the champion is still on her feet.

ROUND FIVE:
Lind again on the offensive, but the challenger has slowed considerably. She's still stepping to, still firing hard shot, but the volume of the last three rounds isn't there. Natalie's used a ton of energy in those stanzas, and it's showing up now. She's still getting the better of things, but, Reinhart's getting the respite she needs, and that begins to show up as the round goes on. By the final minute, Lili's legs are coming back, and she's able to give as good as she gets in the exchanges. In the final thirty seconds, Reinhart starts to take control. She's moving much better now, getting punches put together, even throwing the younger woman onto the defensive a couple of times. At the bell, Lind has still taken the round and pulled into a huge four-point lead, 49-45, but the champion is back in the fight.

ROUND SIX:
Lili coming forward now. Lind getting backed up. Natalie not hurt, but Reinhart's found the range and she's getting things going. She's snapping that jab into her rival's face again and again, following on with hard right hands. Lind trying to hold canvas, fire back, but she's mostly unable to do so. Instead, it's the champ who's taken control of this thing, and she's not just piling up points, but punishment, as hard right hands keep landing, snapping back the younger woman's head. Late in the round, Lind gets it out of reverse and begins banging back, resulting in three scintillating exchanges that see heads snapped back and sweat flying, but, when the bell rings, there's no doubt that Reinhart's taken the points and wide. But, the champ is still facing a significant 58-55 deficit with just four rounds to go.

ROUND SEVEN:
Lind trying to turn things around, coming at the champion and BOOM! A right hand from LILI and NATALIE'S HURT! Lind GOBSMACKED as the champ now begins calling in artillery strikes on the challenger. Natalie driven back into a corner, where Reinhart lets her have it with everything in the arsenal. Ref on high alert as the younger blonde hangs on in a tight guard. She's taking a licking, but still ticking, as Lili begins hooking ribs, punishing tummy, trying to bring that guard down. Natalie crouching, keeping the elbows tight, giving her rival as little as possible to hit. Challenger doing very little offensively, but she's doing enough to keep the ref from stopping the thing. The champ, meanwhile, is piling up the points, but she can't find the 'Off' switch. At the bell, Reinhart's pitched a shutout of her own, but she still trails 67-65 with three to go.

ROUND EIGHT:
Reinhart pressing. Hard. She's well aware what the cards look like and she's determined to get Natalie out of there right now. Lind in retreat, trying to manage, landing the odd solid counter, but mostly playing defense and playing for time. BOOM! Right hand, LILI and Natalie stumbles and nearly goes down! Reinhart quickly all in, winging away with both hands and DOWN GOES LIND after a short right hook! Natalie dropped to her right side as Lili heads for a neutral corner. Lind struggling to hands and knees at six, stretches for the nearby bottom rope...and crumples back to the canvas! It's OVER! Lind can't beat the count and it's OVER! And your winner by KO8 after an instant classic of a fight and STILL Unified Bantamweight Champion is "Diamond" Lili Reinhart!

AFTER:
Lili looking like someone who's been in two or three fights in the post, but she manages a tired smile. "I told you all she belonged here," says the champion. "That was a tough a fight as I've ever been in. But. I ALSO told you all who the best bantamweight in the FCBA is. And, you're LOOKING at her!"
