BEFORE: It's time for a high-profile championship rematch between the unbeaten Sophia Thomalla and challenger Maisie Smith who bids to become one of the youngest champions in BBU history. The Southend actress turns 22 years old in July and she was close to upstage the German powerhouse in January of last year before a stoppage loss in round eight. Since then Maisie has racked up four more wins and believes she's ready for a second bite at the Thomalla cherry. On the other hand the German champion might be a little bored with the lack of genuine competition, there were rumours she might pick fan favorite Lucy Pinder for a mandatory defense but in the end she chose the Maisie Smith rematch which is not a bad idea at all according to most of the BBU pundits and fans alike.

Sophia Thomalla wears a red bikini top, black micro jeans shorts & golden gloves. Long dyed blonde hair tied in a custom ponytail. Maisie Smith wears a white bikini top, blue micro jeans shorts & blue gloves. Long red hair tied in a braid. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds in the bantamweight division.

Round 1:
Sophia means early business and gives the challenger a heavy dose of hooking menace but Maisie was ready to embrace such an approach and she goes out to slug it at the long-time champion which triggers immediate war of attrition in the center of the ring much to the crowd's delight. Maisie holds her own in the exchange and lands some solid shots into the blonde's face but then Sophia carries a wild left/right combo on each temple that wobbles the Brit onto her heels. Maisie can't do much from there and gets beaten for another jabbing rally which flushes her out of the close range and allows the German actress to chase her around the ring. Sophia lands some single punches for additional value and gives the redhead a lenghty stare at the bell.

Round 2:
Maisie comes back strong to land the better slugging value during the opening exchange but Sophia can still take a mean series even if her head snaps back in repeated fashion. Smith realizes she has to hurt the German champion but she settles for artistic impression in the early stages of the fight and keeps going forward which is the most important thing for any challenger in championship action. Sophia taunts her to punch harder and then gets licked with a nasty left hook on the eye that forces her to abandon the cheeky verbal tactics; she runs up her side of the charts with a sudden body assault but eats another overhand on the eye to stagger backwards at the bell amid a loud cheer from the EastEnders fan club.

Round 3:
Maisie goes for another aggressive burst and chops more leather into the blonde's midriff which gives her an early advantage in the third until Sophia fires back over the top herself landing a cruel double on each temple. Smith shakes off the effort but loses her precision in counter-punching drill to open the door for a Thomalla dominance in the second minute. Old habits die hard and Sophia remains as dangerous as ever when just piling on the hear. Maisie hangs around the experience and lands some noteworthy response but she is losing the exchanges by the numbers and then gets busted back to the ropes when Sophia works her over to the body again. A late clinch limits the damage for the redhead challenger.

Round 4:
Sophia cracks a left/right combo on the nose before sliding downstairs to drill the redhead's midriff and the quick switch stuffs the younger actress in the center of the ring upon impact. Thomalla still means slugging business and wastes no time to double down on the gut-checking series; she adds a not-so-stray elbow before blasting a hard right hook on the eye that staggers Smith onto the ropes. She tries to deke away from the incoming follow up but just can't beat Sophia's right hook that tears a visible gash under the eye. Ugh! Maisie sinks on soft knees and has to punch herself out of the trap... which Thomalla denies with a brutal head-hunting rally instead. She buries the challenger behind a tight earmuff and keeps raining punches until the referee pulls her back at the bell.

Round 5:
Maisie realizes she has to become even more aggressive but Sophia slips by the initial burst and hands her more head-hunting misery. Smith is brave enough to actually follow the swarming plan; she knocks some heavy leather into the German's face yet she has to account for vastly superior battle damage as Thomalla gives her another bloody gash - under the right eye this time and pounds her back to the ropes come the final minute. Ugh! Maisie gets vocal as she tries to stun the blonde with a vintage haymaker... to no avail... Sophia keeps the slugging pressure on to sink the challenger in loud spasms come the bell.

Round 6:
Sophia breaks the redhead's resilience when she thumps her in the stomach and carries a well-measured harpoon into the liver area seconds into the sixth. Maisie cries out in pain and wobbles to her heels while dropping her mitts low enough to allow the German champion to SMOKE her with another wild hook on the previously wounded left eye. Uh-oh!! Maisie takes a step back before SLIDING DOWN TO HER KNEES as vertigo takes over and drops her for the count!!! Black Eagles coach Gina Wild is ready to celebrate already however the proud Brit returns to upright reality at eight and refuses to accept the rematch defeat. However Sophia gives her little hope when she thumps more leather between the gloves and pounds her onto the ropes where she somehow opens yet another gash under the left eye that finally renders Smith done & dusted. She sags on the turnbuckle with her eyes closed and probably doesn't even see the last hook on the temple that FLOORS HER for the second time. Ugh! Even the referee knows it's all over as Maisie lands on all fours and bends her head against the canvas trying not to ache out her surrender. She gets duly counted out so Sophia Thomalla takes the rematch as well. KO6 and STILL the BBU bantamweight champion!!!

AFTER: Some pundits thought Maisie would finally end the German's reign of iron (sic!) but Sophia is quick to point out she found extra motivation not to lose focus and defy the upset odds: "It's not even about the rematch thing, Maisie is probably the toughest cookie I faced so far and she will ascend to the throne one day BUT it's still my time! Oh, and I'm really the BEST pound-for-pound fighter in BBU right now! No offense to Hailey Clauson but since when Sports Illustrated portfolio gives anyone free bonus points? These models really have all the luck! So yeah, guess I'll have to defend the belt more often to earn my publicity share... if only some of these girls were actually worthy of the challenge!"

Shannon: ‘Hi Maisie! How you doing!’

Maisie: ‘A bit sore, if I’m honest!’

Shannon: ‘So what’s your view on Sophia Thomalla?’

Maisie: ‘Yeah! She’s a great fighter?’

Shannon: ‘In fact, what’s your view on anything, after that fight?’

Maisie: ‘If you’re talking about my cuts – yeah – I needed 19 stitches! 11 under my left eye, and 8 under my right, so even now I’m not seeing too well!’

Shannon: ‘What went wrong for you, Maisie?’

Maisie: ‘I got into the ring with probably the best fighter in the BBU – but I tested her!’

Shannon: ‘That’s odd, because from what I saw, she gave you what can only be called a f**king good hiding the other night?’

Maisie: ‘Look! I gave it my best shot!’

Shannon: ‘To be honest, you weren’t fit to be in the same ring as her really! The way she worked you over and finished you off in round 6 was sublime!’

Maisie: ‘Enough!’

Shannon: ‘C’mon honey! Admit it! She f**king owned you!’

Maisie: ‘OK! OK! Sophia beat me up! But I’ll take her some day!’

Shannon: ‘And next up you’re fighting Natalie Alyn Lynd (again). Why?’

Maisie: ‘Because I want a return bout to even the score!’

Shannon: ‘Can I just remind you and the listeners that she knocked you out in 6 rounds as well in your first fight – and broke your nose!’

Maisie: ‘Yeah! But I floored her first!’

Shannon: ‘Then she humiliated you bigtime! Rode you bareback, didn’t she?’

Maisie: ‘This interview is over!’

Shannon: ‘And now you’ve agreed a ponysaddle for the winner of the rematch, huh?’

Maisie: ‘Bye!’

Shannon: ‘Spoilt bitch! Natalie’s gonna do her in 3 rounds next month’
